I watched 'Shirley Valentine' with my dear friend Sue yesterday in honor of her birthday. I had never seen the movie before. For the uninitiated, it's the story of an unhappy middle-aged housewife who decides to take a trip to Greece with her friend and ends up changing her life. It reminded me that a little over 4 years ago I decided to change my middle-aged-soccer-mom life in for a new one. I didn't know exactly where it would end up, and I still feel like the story hasn't fully unfolde...

The squirrels attacked my beautiful pot full of bulbs artfully covered in winter pansies (as directed). They made off with about half the crocus bulbs. I bought more bulbs, another pot, some landscape netting, more pansies and replanted everything today. Hopefully my bulbs are well protected from the garden predators. I couldn't help myself, the promise of crocuses, tulips, and daffodils in the spring caught my imagination.

Back from my sojourn to Portland. I LOVE the color of my house, but now it needs trim (actually new windows would be even better), the front planting beds look all wrong and I definitely need new front steps (a new porch would be nice!). I'm itching to replant, but I just talked to my friend who's an expert in these matters and she told me to wait until September:-(. I think I'll go dig and trim and make things look better in anticipation of the fall planting season.

I never go to live jounal anymore, so I'm putting my blog back on Tribe. I'm getting over my fear that someone will actually read what I write.

I've done a tester of the color that my house is being painted, but I'm still afraid it will look like shit when it's all done. This actually happened to a friend of mine and she just had to live with it. It will be done by the time I get bac... read more

Such a sweet testimonial, and such a vibrant memory. I only wish that we had more time to spend, to buzz, to talk, to not say a word, to lie in the sun, to laugh over a drink (or several), to eat breakfast, and to philosophize about the mundane to to meaningful. You are in my thoughts, and I hope you are happy 97.8% of the time (you need the other 2.1% to make sure you realize the value of the happy stuff).

Here, here - I second that. The force runs strong in this one! Definitely a kindred spirit with a knack for spotting treasure. She is the K in Special K™ - good with milk and a spoon.

If you're smart, turn back now! Do not engage with this being! She has powers that most mortal creatures cannot (and WILL not) resist! As one of the smitten, I can only say that I have crossed that line, and don't intend to ever come back...mmmmmmmmm!!!
