So perhaps some of you have noticed I haven't been around much lately. I have been focusing on work since the last burn - and it has paid off rather well. I'm finishing my PhD July 2nd, leaving SD permanently right after the burn, moving to Boston for 6 months for some extra experiments with my advisor (who moved to Harvard) then moving to Plön (N. Germany) for my post-doc in Jan/Feb.

It seems the end is in sight - I should be finishing my PhD in about a year then will be leaving SD and starting a post-doc somewhere (right now top candidate is a lab in Madison, WI - changes weekly though). Over the past few weeks, I've decided I want to travel for 3 - 9 months after I finish - probably taking off 9/07 after the burn. We just did a little photo shoot in lab for new pictures for the website, thought I'd share this one as it's so horribly nerdy. If only looking like I'm working hard actually accomplished something! In truth, I've been staring at the computer all day working on one stinking figure (and procrastinating by hangin' out on tribe!).

Okay, so this is my first ever blog and it's super-negative which is pretty lame but I need to vent - I went to Trader Joe's last night and on the way in I ran into my psychotic ex-roommate, who I lived with for 5 weeks 3 years ago - it's a long dramatic story but involved courts, cops, and moving out with one day's notice.
