LOL! I've been listening to Radio Disney with my eight-year-old, and one of the songs we both like is Ashley Tisdale's "Fabulous." I've been thinking that would make a fun belly dance. There's even a new dance mix out now.
Be gentle with yourself about that new mommy depression. It comes with the territory, and your horizons will expand, and your body will be yours again. |

It is very normal to have body image issues when you're post-partum. Just be gentle and patient with yourself right now. I think you look fabulous personally!
Sometimes its hard to make time for a class, but you can try to sneak in bellydance during your regular baby routine during the day. When you're walking him around in the sling, you can shimmy walk and do hip ups. If he's sitting in front of you, you can amaze him with snake arms and wrist circles. And my baby boy just LOVES it when I play with veils - he chases me all over the place! And I get a great upper body workout from the veils. This sounds silly, but I went through the same body image issues all over again when I had my 2nd child last year. I thought I would handle it better the 2nd time, but no! The thing that made me feel better about myself was getting a new hairdo and some new clothes that flattered my body shape. It doesn't matter that it's a bigger size than you used to wear, nobody's going to see the tag, they're just going to notice how great you look wearing it! Best wishes |

You both look so beautiful and happy!! Don't worry about the body stuff, it's normal and you'll get back to something pretty close to what you were before. After I had my daughter, my back went out (maybe a harbinger of things to come, for me) and kept me from dancing again. But I got there eventually. Playing music is the best inspiration. And doing what ever moves you CAN do, is a nice way to keep strong. Did that after the spine surgery, couldn't maya or undulate at all, but I could still shimmy up a storm.
I have to say again, you both look so BEAUTIFUL in that picture!! It's a keeper! Gosh, makes me think I'm ready for number 2... |
