Here is a clip from "the Bacchae". I am doing a death dance of sorts -- reveling in the impending doom of King Pentheus.

Go ahead, you can say it -- "what an excentric performance". HA!

I have exciting news - the "BeLLy RooM" is moving right across the street from SLU campus. My loverboy - Adam - found us an extremely large new house that seems to have been designed with a home studio in mind. All I can say is... it's ideal.

There is a large room that will quickly be transformed into the new and improved BeLLy RooM (TBA in May). The space offers a studio enviorment completely isolated from the rest of our home. My students will enjoy free parking, a private studio entrance, access to a restroom, as well as space for hangin' out. The positives are great - no more hot classes during summer! I will be able to fully opporate out of my home... which means I can offer day classes and private lessons to suit most schedules.

My pole dance students can look forward to the same small classes, BUT we will no longer be using the stage-based poles. (Yeah!) This space allows me to go ceiling to floor!

We will be making the move May 1st. The studio is our #1 priority, so look forward to a Grand Opening Party later in May. So, ahh... does anyone know how to hang mirrors or where to get them? HA!

I've got wonderful news... I'm going back to laLoVely NY in March for a very cool gig! A director there is filming an adaptation of the Greek play "the Bacchae" (by Euripides), and I have been contracted to do several things for the production: choreograph the dance numbers, and play the role of the Chorus Leader and principle dancer!

Fun!!!

I've been keeping it to myself until everything was set, and it's a go! Production begins March 23. I'll keep you all posted and take lots of pictures. www.macmillanfilms.com

Ahhhh... (the sweet sound of relief) Another semester is behind me, and though it was great, I was so ready for this break. I had an outstanding semester and I'm proud to have made the Dean's List again. Woohoo! Enough about that though.

Each year, I extend the Holiday challenge to troupes to perform at their local nursing home or childrens hospital. I'm a little late getting the message out this year, so if it's too tight... go for New Years, or plan something now for Valentine's Day. I think it's important that we dance for the joy it brings and these venues will certainly deck the halls with joy. Bring everyone! All your students, basics to advanced - have them bring their families. Fill the place up with friendly faces. If they don't want to dance, they can mingle with the people, pass out candy, or hugs. It can be VERY casual and you will still be deeply appriciated.

Well, I have all this desire to say more but I am at a loss. I think I'm still a little brain fried from school. HA! Perhaps I'll have a clue later.

I feel like I have been so neglectful to my online life. HA! It's like living in two worlds. My physical world has taken over for a short time... cause I'm hard a work in a new semester. For the most part my classes are fairly general, but I am taking a few courses that really stick out like Yoga, Intro to Acting, and Globalization.

Yoga is everything everyone says it is. Though I resist popular trends (I can't help it), I will gladly line right up with everyone else and say "yes, take yoga"... the semetry it has returned to my body is irreplacable.

Intro to Acting has been challenging and fun! My teacher is fantastic and he's really helping me to get into character. Most of you know, I have very few inhibitions... after this class, I may have none. =)

Globalization is waaaayyyy depressing, but it's so vastly improved my knowledge of the social problems of the world and, how we got here. For myself, I am taking on personal changes and acknowledging the cultural responcibility of economics and how I as a consumer play into that. I could go on and on... but that's better left for another blog.

Please keep me in your thoughts as I work hard for my grades. Thanks to last semester I am now a member of the Honors Club, a National Honors Society "Gamma Beta Phi", and I am working towards an honors degree in Sociology. Despite all this, I still dance at least 4 times a week (gotta keep those hip rolls tight), and every night I make time to hold onto my loverboy close. It's all about the little things.

										<div>Salutations dahlin'

I have a whole bunch going on this summer. I'm really excited. For starters, I finish my finals this week and my 1st semester of college will be complete. I impressed myself. I'll let you know the offical word after finals. I also took my first aerial lesson to learn the Silks (I gotta another one this weekend). It was a challenge, and I laLoVed it!

May27th I leave for New Hampshire to guest instruct at Pole Bliss in Manchester. It's such a great place. I will be staying in a guest house in Salam, MA (which is just 30mins away). It's gonna be fun. We will be celebrating Leela (the owners) birthday, and the grand opening of the new addition to her studio: an advanced pole work room with 12 beautiful brass poles. I can't wait to see them

From there I leave June 24th, and fly to Ohio to film the 1st in my BeLLy Dance DvD series. The program is called:

"Beautiful Belly - Style &amp; sk'Zils"

You know I had to work a pun in somehow. =) It's going to be fab. I will cover 5 different Arabic beats, with zils and dance to accentuate them! The program will also include a 20 min "dance-a-long" that help dancers practice for that "effortless" look. Thanks to Shelly (Blue Lotus Society) and Jeremiah (Solace), the music will totally RaQ! I'm not sure of the finished release date but soon... and it will be available on amazon.

Once I finish filming, it's off to KY to visit the family for the 4th of July. I'll be returning to Louisiana around July 14th. *ahhhhhh... home sweet home

I hope you all have an amazing summer. See you soon!

I haven't been around much. It's probably been odd (me being so quiet). HA! Well, college is keeping me busy... but I love it. Sociology is an amazing science. I'm so excited about the doors it will open for me. I've got my eye set on studing how dance relates to culture. I just got about 4 years of hoops to jump through.

Arabic classes started up again, and they are going wonderfully. I'm learning to say things like "the cup is empty". I look forward to it no matter how tired I am. I'll just learned how to say the numbers 11 through 19, they are gorgous to say. I imagine that would be funny to someone who has spoken them their life, but to an outsider, I find myself walking around and saying them like a little mantra. =)

The only other thing to note is that while I haven't managed to write a blog recently, I have managed to keep up with my love of Belly Dance and Pole Fitness. I just spent a wonderful weekend in Lake Charles, LA teaching a "How to Tribal" workshop. It was an absolute blast, and in the next two weeks I will be starting a Belly Dance program at SELU (info on my site). I'm also jazzed cause my Pole'rotica classes are thriving and keeping me in good shape... not too mention a side of spicey love life.

I hope you all are well... cudling those you love, laughing, practing your arts, and taking care of yourself!

										<div>Salutations dahlin'

WoW!! I totally love college. I've just completed my 1st week and all I can say is everyone should try this. HA! My brain aches in ways it hasn't for a long time, but much like the way a good workout feels... I like it.

For those of you who don't know, I'm majoring in Sociology (which is the study of how a society functions). I plan to use this to study Mid-east culture, and ideally help our cultures understand one another. Once I have my degree in this, I will pursue my Masters for Anthropology (so I can become an Ethnographer). I've got at least 8 years of school in front of me. That's cool... what else do I have to do. HA!

I'm taking this "Introduction to Dance Technique" class and right now too. Currently we are learning Ballet. It's waaaay different. They don't much like it when you bend your knees or flow naturally in general. BUT, I do like aspects of it... and altering the feet positions will actually make it useful for me. It's certainly not a disappline that I want to pursue, but I am enjoying learning these classic terms/movements. I'm looking forward to Modern &amp; Jazz (which will also be explored in this class).

My big brain teaser is college algebra. OMG! It's only been 12 years since I've been in High School. Let's just say I am feeling alittle like going ???????What???????? HA! I'm sure to do fine though. I've always loved math, so I am actually enjoying beating my head into my notebook.

I was also hired by the campus to teach a Continueing Ed class for Middle-easter Dance. I just finished filling out all the paperwork. Once I have the dates for the program, I will be sure to post them. Thanks for all your support! This is certainly a lifestyle change for me, but I see it fitting in nicely after I've had a few weeks to assimilate. If I'm not around much, you'll know why.

So today, I went through the 60+ tribes I belong to on this site and thinned it down to about 30. I can't even keep up with them all... so I decided to give up tring. Please don't take offense if I resigned from your tribe. Whenever I belong to a million things I can't keep up with any of them... but when I simplify, I am far more active and productive. Let's hope this is the start of a more managable new year for me. HA!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

I'm here in Maine right now, thanking my lucky stars that I have followed my dreams, and I have a career that allows for experiences like this. Pole Bliss in N.H. flew me up here for a amazing weekend of teaching workshops. Which was a hudge success. I arrived Thursday, and "worked" through to Sunday. They've offered me a job (again)... it gets harder and harder to say no. I am a northerner at heart.

The first thing I did when my work was done was drive into Kittery Point, Maine and eat at my favorite resturant "Capt'n Simeons". I didn't even need a menu... "I'll have the lobster and steamers". OMG!! so good. I'll be stopping in one more time on my way back to N.H. where I'll fly home.

After dinner, I headed up into the mountains to spend the holiday with my Maine family (whom I don't get to see enough). THERE'S SNOW ON THE GROUND... IT SNOWED AGAIN TODAY!!

It's just been great. I feel so charged and excited. I had to share my joy with my friends. I won't bore you all with all the details of my visit, but lets just say I'm happy. I miss Maine so much... everytime I'm here I get so home sick. I'll talk funny when I get back, but just for a little while. HA!

Happy Holiday... and laLoVe ya' all.

Many of you already know that I just can't get enough of dancing for those who can't get out to see us... so we go to them... dancing our way through the local Nursing Homes, causing a general racket, and putting flowers in the hair of the residence.

I'm sending out a holiday challenge. =) Call a local nursing home... bring your students, dancers, and belly lalove, and celebrate the holiday season with those who are not as able as we. Of couse, I'd love to challenge you further by encourageing you to go back every 2nd or 3rd month, but I know it's hard to commite to things like that.

Thanks again to all my wonderful students who freely offer their time &amp; energy for no other reason than dancing for the joy it brings.

    </a>
										<div>
WoW!! I kid you not, I have been spending anywhere from 2 to 4 hours a day studying Arabic since I started this class. The funny thing is, it's cause I want to. HA! The writing is addictive, and perfect for a dyslexic. They don't "spell" per say, as much as it is an alphabet of sounds and everything is written phonetically. The trick is learning the vowels, cause they don't have "letters" they are accent marks, and often they are omitted unless they are dramatic enough to include.

It's the reading/writing I am spending most of my study time with currently, as we are focusing on the sounds and learning to recognize the letters. The above picture shows you my effort. I've written the basic greeting and response (as'salaamu alaykum... and wa alaykum as'salaam)... with the added ya (to) so I can address someone specifically. HA!

Below you will see random words I am using to learn to write with. Like "al thawrah" (revolution)... even when I study I want al thawrah =)

Athath - furniture
Jamal - pretty
Khabar - News
Khookh - peaches

OM'ALLAH I have a lot to learn... but I'm loving every wrinkle it puts in my brow.

If you are interested, the program is being offered at SELU. Here is the info. www.selu.edu/continueinged
click "non credit" courses, and then select Foreign Language.

For those of you who don't know... my lover-boy has recently returned to college for a double major in History and Sociology. I think I might join him next year and pursue my own college ambitions. I always wanted to be a professional student. Anyway... I'm gonna start with this Arabic class.

I've been busy being self-obsessed, but having lots of fun... and lovin' to practice. It's been my thing recently... more so than usual (for those who know me, you can be shocked now). Seriously exhausting myself. I must, I must, I must improve my...

This clip is comprised of this mornings pole practice session. I've been working on advanced tricks and variations out of them. I repeat several of the tricks, but they are a little different each time. Some with the spinner pole, some with the pole static, etc.

Take special note of my puppy dog appearing around 3:40. He is so unimpressed. HA! If I had a ball in my hand he would have paid attention. =) It just goes to show, you can't please everyone.

It's good to be home, but I had so much fun while I was away. This time we filmed "the Irresistible Art" the 2nd in my Exotic Dance DvD series. It's going to be releasing quickly... sometime in June. I'm really excited about this one too. It was so much fun, I know it came out great.

I didn't bring my camera this time. I choose to just enjoy it the experiences with my own two eyes. I will have a tone of cover photos, but I forgot the disc so no sneak peak shoots yet, but Neon will get them to me. I do have a few shots posted that Sarah Skinner ("I love Turkish BeLLy Dance") had snapped with her camera. The one above is from my welcoming party: with the exception of Sarah behind the camera... and their talented editor Amy who is camera shy.

It was another in and out New York minute for me, and I can't wait to do it again. It's like being a shooting star. HAHAHAHA!!

This won't be a very wordy blog... it's really just here to let you all know that I have posted a few of my favorite "tourist" pics from New York. I hope you find them fun.

I go back in May to film the sequel. Yeah!!
