It's my birthday. Tomorrow, May 23, I will be turning 37. I'm having a hard time not making a comparison to my marker for "the Best Birthday Ever" - last year, praying for hours as the sun rose over the Sea of Galilee...

Yeah, that was an amazing place to awaken to a new year. I was baptized that day in the River Jordan, spent the evening under the moon and stars talking and singing with friends. The world was indeed made new, and I was new in it.

It's been a long, lovely, sometimes searing, sometimes boundless, sometimes crazy, sometimes gentle, and always deepening road since. Many times back and forth across the great expanse of ocean, the gentle curve of earth. Mile and miles deeper into my own mystery of the "I am that I am," unfolding.

Sometimes it is so hard not to get stuck to, stuck in, those rarified moments.

The comparison draws me into this moment, and as I drop into the IS-ness of now, I recognize a gentler newness that holds me. I breath in, and come gratefully present in this life. My life. The one I am waking up in now. The life I will greet as I open my eyes to the first day of my 38th year - in this body, on this planet.

This is now; my man and kids are in the kitchen, listening to funk and making brownies for Grandparent's Day at the kids' school. I sit and listen.

Even in the moments where part of my heart is trapped in memories, good or bad, I am held - gently, freely, strongly, truly - here.

My birthday has been, for years, an inconstant pleasure. The tendency to measure myself against some internalized list of "to-do" creeps in through some hidden door. The weights and balances merge and diverge, coalesce and transform.

And I remind myself, last year I spent the morning of my birthday greeting the sun over the Sea of Galilee. Tomorrow I will greet the day gazing into the eyes of my beloved.

And, after saying a silent prayer of gratitude for all I have been, all I have seen, all I have known, all I have done, I will get the kids ready for school and move into the new day, and my new year, as it unfolds.

Gratefully yours, from my heart to yours, thank you for being part of this amazing life.

I am, as I have been, as I will always be.

When you feel separation – whether through love, longing, desire, rejection, repulsion, hope, definition, clinging, etc. – realize that you are THAT, too. You are the thing you desire, you have the thing you long for, you are one with the thing that repulses you.

All things are held within the Divine. The Divine is in all things. We are each part of this grand tapestry, and are never separate from the All That Is.

Experience the Power of I Am. Notice every time you say, "I am..." today. If you are creating an "I AM" with the statement that feels less than in total alignment with your most true self, choose a new statement of truth. In every moment you are creating. Lights OUT!!! And, an Ecstatic Presence Empowerment for Play!

Hey love,

I know it's last minute, but I want to add my voice to the many calling for 60 minutes of lights-off this evening, in an effort to call attention to energy consumption and global warming.

It's easy; all around the world, people will be turning all electric lights off for the hour of 8 PM to 9 PM, creating a voluntary rolling black out.

I'm spending this weekend with my brother-in-arms, Travio, his wife Dr. Spieler (yep, that's what we call her at home...) and our kids.... tonight we will sit together with only candles and create a circle of gratitude and love. Share it with us from where you are!

(Honestly, sitting with only non-electric light will remind me of my childhood, but that's another story for another time. Suffice it to say that my parents were some very committed back-to-the-land hippies!)

Earth Hour was created by the World Wildlife Fund in Australia, and serves the purpose of raising our consciousness, making a statement AND actually having an impact on use. Last year the event reduced Sydney's energy consumption by 10.2% for one hour. That may not sound like a lot, but it's the equivalent of taking 48,000 cars off the road for a year.

This year, the movement has gone global. Join in for Earth Hour. Let's see what we can do together!

* fine with a certain level of intensity - some may say "a bit driven"?

* good with the basics - data entry, phones, basic customer service, basic accounting/books
* good problem solver
* interested in learning the ins and outs of running your own business, looking for references, wanting to build your resume

Ideally:
* You are a "Mac" person
* You have your own fledgling business where you can take the skills you learn through working with me and apply them to your own business as well
* Your business is on some way related to mine - most ideal would be in the healing arts (massage, reiki, yoga, physical therapy...)

* scheduling
* filing, and generally organizing my office space

Ideally, you will have your own Mac laptop that you can bring to work with you.


The initial internship will not include monetary payment (but will provide you with tons of value in experience and skills-building). At the end of three months, we can renegotiate terms.
