Ramblings

Just thought I'd share my song for the day with you. Well have you?

Have You Ever Had It Blue - Paul Weller

Have you ever chased the night
That sailed in front of you
On a boat that's bound for hope
But left you in the queue
With your shouting waving
Taunting flaunting friends as crew
Telling you that every lie
You ever heard was true
Have you stood upon that dock
Have you ever had it blue ooh

Have you ever woke to find
The morning didn't come
Undelivered with the papers
Stolen by someone
Found the milkman bound and gagged
And the shackles round the sun
And the holder of the keys
Turns out to be the one
The girl you had your heart set on
Have you ever had it blue
Have you ever had it blue
Have you ever had it blue ooh

Have you ever watched the day
Passing by your door
Powerless to change its course
Your feet fixed to the floor
When all the people
You thought you knew
Are changing more and more
Even the girl you thought would see
Seems only to ignore
The only love worth fighting for
Have you ever had it blue
Have you ever had it blue
Ever had it blue
Have you ever had it blue ooh
(Ever had it blue)

Have you ever had it blue
Have you ever had it blue
Have you ever had it blue

Brrrrr. If you haven’t noticed it’s COLD out there! Several brave souls decided to forge ahead and make the journey to Walnut Creek today. JD and OS met me at Café Strada in Berkeley. We hung out, had a cup of joe and waited for PC and PO to arrive from San Francisco. At around 10:15 am we headed off.

Unfortunately on the Arlington in Berkeley before we even reached the East side of the bay hills misfortune struck. There was some water going across the road and before anything could be done we all realized that it was ice. JD went down. He’s OK but both him and his GTS are scraped up.

OS PC, PO and I continued on ever mindful that the roads were going to be treacherous. Luckily we didn’t encounter any more ice ontheroad but all the puddles along the side were frozen and by the time we reached Walnut Creek, 45 minutes later, all our fingers were frozen as well.

DH at Vespa Walnut Creek had coffee and sweets for us. R and LL met us there and we had time to thaw. PO even took a spin on the new MP3. You’ll have to ask him for his review. Since R hurt her back she couldn’t lead to Orinda so she gave me a map and off we headed.

Somewhere in Moraga I took a wrong turn and we ended up on a “Not A Through Street” looking at my map trying to figure where we were. LL spied a Postal Carrier in his truck and we asked him for directions. “Follow me” he said. “I’ll get you to St. Mary’s Road”. I think he got a kick out of leading 5 lost scooterists out of a maze of residential streets.

We arrived in Orinda with only a short stop because PC's scooter was acting up. We parked downtown (don’t you love being able to fit 5 scooters in 1 car space) and ambled around looking for a place to eat lunch. So we were sightseeing and stopped by the fountain, which was frozen over. Yes that’s right frozen in mid-day, with icicles and everything! Thelovely staff at the Orinda movie theatre let us enter and oo and ah at the beautiful deco murals and décor. If you haven’t been there and you love old movie palaces, this is a place to visit. We opted for burgers at Nations for lunch before heading back West. LL split off and ventured back to Livermore (Thanks for coming!) and the rest of us went up and over the tunnel before splintering in several directions.

Thanks everyone for coming on the Walnut Creek Ice Run! I wasn’t planning on leading but what the heck, I hope you had a good time. And JD – heal quickly, OK?

It's done! Finally! I have been slaving away for the benefit of my scooter club (The San Francisco Scootergirls) for months now on the 2007 calendar. This has been a monumental project and I am very pleased with the finished product. We're selling them to raise money to throw our first rally next September.

Now maybe I can back to chatting online.

For the past year you have transported me 2,000 miles with grace and style! We have attended rallies, gone on group rides, driven in rain and sun and even killed that darn deer together. You hardly ever complain and barely need any fuel to sustain you. Never would I have guessed how much you would change my life for the better.

DangerAngel tagged me.

I tag: Mark, RxOxBx, Michael, Aidan, Autumn, rachel.

1. I make amazing ice cream from scratch. Vanilla is my favorite flavor with cinnamon/chocolate chip, pear and green tea running closely behind.

2. I burst into tears when I get really angry.

3. I will take care of others before I will take care for myself.

4. Being married has never been a dream of mine. I don’t think I should have to ask the State’s or the Church’s permission/approval to spend my life with someone I love.

5. Dying doesn’t scare me but being incapacitated does. I have a hard time relying on others for assistance and try to do it all myself, even when I know it is beyond my abilities and endurance.

6. I love flirting but I go all shy around men I am attracted to. I tend to present myself as “one of the guys”; ignoring all advances towards me in favor of being “friends” and respected as a person instead of as a sexual being. Why do I feel that these two things are mutually exclusive? They’re not really it’s just one of my quirks I guess.

7. I am good in emergencies. I am very calm and task oriented when everyone around me is freaking out. On the other hand I can fall apart over small things that may seem inconsequential to others.

8. I don’t like to eat in courses. I like all the dishes at once so I can move around from flavor to flavor, texture to texture and mix it all up. I also eat with my fork in my left hand, turned back up, and my knife in my right and use it to push food onto the fork – “British” style.

RULES - Once you've been tagged, you have to write a blog with 8 facts/things/habits about yourself, saying who tagged you. In the end you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names and then send them a message so they become tagged.

NO TAG BACKS!

What people think about me

November 17, 2006
laura was perfectly willing to count me as a tribe.net "friend" even though she has not seen me in 20 years. which means she kindly managed to forget all the offensive things i doubtlessly must have said to her while drunk which i can no longer remember, thank god. thusly she has made me reconsider the possibility that this internet thing may be worth something after all.....

Laura is wonderful!

Smart, kind, thoughtful and real. A very nice person to know. Our paths crossed to one degree or another in a past I don't remember very well, but it's been a pleasure to get to know her now.

Laura stopped me from slugging a mod girl at an Uptones concert in 1986, she took me to London for the first time, she baked my wedding cake, and has been a steadfast friend for well over 2 decades. Not only is she fun, funny, is a great cook and has great taste in music - she's had more hair colors and styles than I have. I'm proud to say I've seen most of them.
