Meow Meow May!
Mon, May 11, 2009 - 11:27 AMBeen thinking of the limitations I put on myself in order to fit the belly dancer ideal, and the difference between being a belly dancer, and a performer that happens to belly dance. I think i may have jumped on the wrong side of the fence.
I am thinking about all this because My life is really in need of some change... So I have been looking towards something to push me and thinking of people I admire for some inspiration.
LOL, the problem is
1) many of them I admire because they are FUCKING CRAZY!!! individuals that do things I donna have the energy to keep up with!
2) One I can't speak to- for some retarded reason I just feel like fighting with them- Strange huh?
3) Many do something that is really individualistic and appropriate for them, that would be strange for me to do as myself
ahhh life is good.
This leaves me with the belly dance competition circuit, which would require me to actually learn to go Girly stuff... not just fake it. Like actually remove my make-up at night. GAH!! I will miss raccoon face of death..

Girly
As you get older (like me), these internal questions/discussions/concerns whither as a sense of urgency-of-life and screw-it-I’m-going-to-do-what-I-want attitude takes over. It’s liberating beyond articulation. I am a late bloomer for sure (especially for becoming girly), and wish I had your confidence years ago (not to mention a tenth of your talent now!). In the meantime, revel in your beauty, youth and your innate fabulousness and do it all. You are beyond categorization, my dear. Consider developing an alter ego that you can bring out on stage - you know, someone who takes on a life of her own and would do things that "you" wouldn't - lol! That's what did it for me.
And remember the airplane rule: when the mask drops, put it on yourself first before helping others. Hugs... |
