Me Lost Me Cookie in the Mosh Pit
Where me cookie go?
Me was slamming at the club last night
And me was having a really great time
But me get careless, me don't know how
Me lost something me can't find now
Me lost me cookie in the mosh pit
Me lost me cookie in a sea of slamming
Me lost me cookie in the mosh pit
Me want it back
Me want it back
The music violent, the music loud
Me now a part of the metal crowd
Me boots go crazy across the floor
And now me cookie not be there no more
Me so angry and so me slam
How this happen me no understand
Maybe get cookie back but me not know
Maybe never find out where me cookie go
Me lost me cookie in the mosh pit
Me lost me cookie in a sea of slamming
Me lost me cookie in the mosh pit
Me want it back
Me want it back

the spectrum of human beauty here is breathtaking. between the cracks and the lines... magic still thrives.
-
it's hard to believe that in a megapolis, there are oasis and little neighborhoods, funky and kind.
-
for all the viciousness evil and tyranny that L.A. represents, there is a sympathy here in the people, for each other.
there is a creative range that's astounding....
-
a lot of the creative power i see here isn't connecting with the community i've known.
in fact, the clans seem to be isolated and uninterested in pursuing the worship of other dieties...

the next step
crosspolination between subcultures... los angeles has the juice !

soooo
when the house djs switch to breaks, and then they switch to psyphy,
is it going to make psyphy as unbearable as all these 'djs' made breaks ?
because i am being forced to listen to a lot of people put on the robot glove
and do basic ableton mixing with hip hop and psyphy,
it's making me super depressed.
hearing people 'dj' breaks with no cutting was ultra depressing.
now it's hip hop with robot glove cutting. and it sucks.
oh yeah hit that dblue glitch button one more tim...

wth the exception of Mike Gravel,
none of them behave like a real President.
I enjoyed Baracks' Sermon in Atlanta.
but his limp wristed hoe slapping / hair pulling with Hillary,
blew the regal illusion forever.
sigh.
vote Mike Gravel.
he's the only mutherfucker with real sack.
watch this if you want to hear how a real President Rolls.

so the short story is, in 1986 my high school cheerleaders, being the hottest buffest white teeth grinning bitches in the land,
had an alliance with me to make music. they got me out of class, i made them bomb ass mix tapes.
we actually got together and figured out the timing on these crazy mixes. so they would shake their hot tanned buff little bodies all over the damn place in gymnastic fashion, and i would mashup their beats. for a nerdy high school senior this is plush.
i was pretty insane with the tracks, having evolved from biweekly sessions where would set up a massive pa on campus and i would play for the whole fucking school at lunch. it was gnarly. everyone hated each other's beats. people threatened me, bribed me, you name it. so after a while i started figuring out how to play tracks that would launch from one clicque to the next;
ska to punk to heavy metal to country western to downtempo to pop to electronica to..... shit got straight up insane, pumping each section up into the next. my partners and i did a graduation show for the high school using combined timed slide show with cut tracks to ill effect. so that point the local club djs and i were meeting each other through being active in college radio.
i was also a communist anarchist, which goes along way in college radio survival. haha.
so i'm in an insane castro home -2001- one of those gorgeous ones in the back with terraces and gardens and art and patios ( the amazing thing about SF is the fronts of the houses all look the same, it's BEHIND that house that may blow your mind )... and i'm hanging out with friends, it's a party.... members of the gay professional mens cheerleading team were there. this is the castro, dig. so the guy is talking about judging united states high school cheerleading nationals in 1986, and how the coach of this one team couldn't take second, and advanced on the judges like a snarling hyena... tackled by security, maced, bad scene, three cheerleaders try and commit suicide pact by o.d. on the bus on the way back. silly bitches you can't o.d. on motrin. so this cat is telling me about this incident with the mackenroe mom, and i ask him what he thought about the music for their routine. well he remembered the cut from you spin me right round into people are people with the two girls going backflip. and i said, man, i made that mix. and he said the beats were chronic and they nearly won it was a little technical bobble cuz the girls were pushing it so hard. and i thanked him, we had drinks in this lovely yard on a nice evening. so that pretty much sums up dj'ing for me. no just kidding.
started dj'ing mid eighties, high school junior. senior year i was making insane mixes, and started in college radio as a high school senior. threw mad lsd powered black magic radio sessions, college and pirate in the late eighties. discovered wicked in the early nineties. started beatmatching seriously in late nineties because the whole new generation of djs did not shred. so by 2001 i was shredding.... resident at the fuzzy house, on patrol with the other underground djs SF scene 2000/2003. blew minds @ burning man for a few years and then retired gracefully. you start missing your own gigs when tipper's on the desert... now i like going to burning man as a civilian with a few phatty sessions here and there. always kept it low key, never fronted that dj shit. i'm pro at a couple of other things i also don't front, most people would never guess. but after a few runs at something edge you know it's all going to end up jacked in the end by the fad, so why front the neon oaklies.
stylistically i'm still a pirate radio dj. the whole goal was to make someone tripping in some field somewhere, really fucking believe that the aliens were right there with them. wicked really reaffirmed the extraterrestrial contact theme, plus the multidimensional space opened between two tracks in a dj mix ( jeno, thanks man ). unless the portal is open, you're hearing one track, which is nothing like what the creator of that track intended. the creator of that track intended a dj to bring it into battle and union with another track... now that the political whore djs of the present have ascended, they'd like you to forget what the devil sounded like. and with computers and mailorder the music sounds more and more like the devil... however the psychic unhooking of the shred is something that comes with skill on decks. i didn't step to my job because i wanted to front. i stepped to my job as an old school dj who really needed to hear the sound go off the hook. to feel the uncertainty and confidence of the mix; fluid, random, loose, jiggy, just like the feedback from the dancefloor. there's defintitely room for edit based dj'ing and a lot of phat tracks and multigenre mixes just don't go into two channels. but anyone who thinks there is a limit to what they can put together can always check out garth or vinnie esparza or radar, ming / fs, etc. so i'm pretty humble in that kind of company.
just filling in my corner of the canvas the way i see it.... with Every Fucking Thing Groovy.
dj'ing is actually a tiny fragment of my overall existence. but this tribe profile addresses that slice in the whackiest terms possible.
i didn't even have this info up here but my friends told me i should put it up. so it's up now freaks.
oh currently i am the resident dj / beat wizard selector of anon salon SF where over the past two years all genres walls and styles have been pretty well exploded. i don't book myself relentlessly for my own show and my guests come first. i pull from old school heros, new school heros, bedroom killers who can take them all on. i hire friends and total randoms alike. i put people into tag teams with people they've never met in their lives. and i wish to fucking god other crews would get on the same tip so the whole scene could explode into the public consciousness, before our sounds are packaged and the leaders, sold out.
i believe that raving is a distant second to live, cabaret, true theater and dance companies, actually.
this year's Sea of Dreams will have so much insane talent there really won't be that many djs.
Tipper headlining on saturday, Mark Farina on friday. i believe that a large, epic gathering can't replace
intimite semi formals on twin peaks or potrero, and i totally support the range of events in SF on NYE;
so don't come just to our party ! but you should also make it apart of your night, it will be the most amazing yet.
anon salon started fifteen years ago... it has always been about the intellect creativity and comedy of bright minds,
playing and meeting in a salon atmosphere. well it's a wee bit more off the hook now but i still see the music program,
as being second to the amazing people that come to the event .... which is why i support it.
long live the revolution.
