We've all seen the typical "weirdo" sitting on the park bench and talking to himself, saying, "Remember the grass? Remember the grass?" Well, how do we know there's not another guy sitting on a park bench in New York City talking to himself as well, saying, "Yeah, I remember the grass"... (??)
Maybe we shouldn't take anything for granted...
-- John Bolles
I've seen so much ugliness and stupidity on this planet..... People here keep making the same mistakes, history repeats itself. It's very boring for me; I've been elsewhere, you see. I'd much rather be on Jupiter, there it's inexpressibly beautiful, splendorous, pure happiness. I can see why they say the word 'jovial' come from Jupiter. I was there just the other day, in what you might call a dream or a vision, but it was just as real as you and I talking right here. You got to learn to understand rather than overstand your position regarding so-called reality.

Past Life Memories:
I'm pretty sure I was a goat-herder in Scotland or Iceland in a recent past life, as well as a camel herder in Mongolia and a reindeer herder in Siberia. I miss those lives. Someday I hope to live in the wilderness again. A yurt would be nice.
MY ULTIMATE DREAM:
To be a cave woman / tribe member living & surviving on an unspoiled Earth, or to be an apocalypse survivor helping to build a new, better beginning.
I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and moved to Fremont, CA in 1998 to live with my dad and stepmom for my last year of high school. After graduation, I went travelling all around with a new boyfriend in an RV and got to see Las Vegas, Santa Barbara, San Diego, L.A., Laguna Niguel, and the adorable little country towns of Oak Glen and Julian, as well as Morro Bay, Hearst Castle, and Paso Robles (beautiful wine country). When I broke up with that guy in 2001, I moved up to Seattle with a friend to explore yet another new and interesting place and it was a great adventure; Mount Rainier and the Olympic Rainforests were amazing. But even though I saw all these wonderful places and met lots of great people during my travels, San Francisco still turned out to be my favorite place of all, so in January of 2003, that's where I decided to stay.
Unfortunately, I was back to square one living with my parents with no job, no money and no connections in San Francisco at all. So I got established the only way I could think of: I packed a bag of essentials and moved into a youth homeless shelter that I read about on-line. What a scary move at first, although I won't deny that it was super-exhilarating, and it totally paid off in the end because I learned a lot while I was there and put myself in a position to meet the coolest people of all...
Within a couple of months I discovered an open mic at the Coppa D'Oro Cafe in the Mission, and the poets there accepted me with open arms. The Coppa D'Oro went out of business soon afterwards, so our group moved to the Brain Wash Cafe. Soon it grew so big that it didn't fit comfortably inside a building, so on June 26th we expanded to the 16th & Mission BART plaza and became the self-named Collaborative Arts Insurgency. Now, over three years later, we still meet at 16th & Mission every Thursday night.
That summer in 2003 Patrick, one of my most specialest poet friends, took me with him on my best adventure of all -- Burning Man! I had the time of my life and gained a new family in the Waterboy camp. I'll always remember Waterboy saying on the night of the Burn, "You've got two families: the family you're born into and the family you make."
I don't know if it's all those spiritual self-help books I've been reading or what, but my life is just getting better all the time. I've become surrounded by so many wonderful, caring people, and every day I can hardly wait to see what will happen next!

Lost my job, lost my apartment, and broke up with Bill. : ( Going away now to live at home for a while and save some money. : /

So far, so good. Looking forward to Burning Man (!!!)

My best year at Burning Man so far. Now I'm getting ready to move back to San Francisco in December.

CHILDREN'S DEFINITIONS OF LOVE
A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4- to 8-year-olds: "What does love mean?"
"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."
-- Rebecca, age 8
"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."
-- Billy, age 4
"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other."
-- Karl, age 5
"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs."
-- Chrissy, age 6
"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."
-- Terri, age 4
"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."
-- Bobby, age 7
"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate."
-- Nikka, age 6
"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday."
-- Noelle, age 7
"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day."
-- Mary Ann, age 4
"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you."
-- Karen, age 7
"Love is a secret that everyone knows."
-- Margo, age 5
CHILDREN'S MARRIAGE ADVICE
How do you decide who to marry?
"You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming."
-- Alan, age 1o
"No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with."
-- Kirsten, age 1o
What is the right age to get married?
"Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then."
-- Camille, age 1o
"No age is good to get married at. You got to be a fool to get married."
-- Freddie, age 6
How can a stranger tell if two people are married?
"You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids."
-- Derrick, age 8
What do you think your mom and dad have in common?
"Both don't want any more kids."
-- Lori, age 8
What do most people do on a date?
"Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough."
-- Lynnette, age 8
"On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date."
-- Martin, age 1o
What would you do on a first date that was turning sour?
"I'd run home and play dead. The next day I would call all the newspapers and make sure they wrote about me in all the dead columns."
-- Craig, age 9
When is it okay to kiss someone?
"When they're rich."
-- Pam, age 7
"The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that."
-- Curt, age 7
"The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them. It's the right thing to do."
-- Howard, age 8
Is it better to be single or married?
"I don't know which is better, but I'll tell you one thing. I'm never going to have sex with my wife. I don't want to be all grossed out."
-- Theodore, age 8
"It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them."
-- Anita, age 9
How would the world be different if people didn't get married?
"There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn't there?"
-- Kelvin, age 8
How would you make a marriage work?
"Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a truck."
-- Ricky, age 1o
