Today, I completed a 30 day yoga teacher training here in Sedona, Arizona. The experience has been challenging, demanding, fucking beautiful, and filled with sweetness. This sweetness is the nectar that comes from hard work and shifting through one's shit, or, as they say in yoga terms, karma. Up at 3:30 each morning, in classes until 6 in the evening. Standing outside with 13 people in the predawn air, pouring salt water from one nostril to the next, pounding salt water and then regurgitating it--crazy, I know, but they are yogic cleansings otherwise known as neti and kunjala. Doing asana after asana, falling asleep standing up. Eating ayurvedically even as i craved those bacon and eggs. I loved it, I hated it, I learned so much from it. The lessone were invaluable. Learning my strengths and weaknesses. How to truly be with oneself. How to transform pain into sweetness. Understanding more deeply that life is about love is about letting go. We change from one moment to the next, our cells constantly dying and being born. There is nothing to hold onto in this world. It is so sad and so amazingly beautiful. Each moment is a miracle. And now, as I step out into the world with a clarified mind and heart, I look forward to holding and sharing these lessons. I look forward to breathing in the ocean air once again.
