You are invited to a CLOSING CHAMPAGNE ART RECEPTION featuring 80 magnificent “Celestial Images” by photographer Leland Auslender. Many of the photos are combined with ecstatic poems by Rumi, whose ancient wisdom resonates magically with Auslender’s modern mystical imagery.
The Closing Reception is on Sunday, March 30th, 2008, from 5 pm to 7 pm, at the Woman’s Club of Hollywood, and the photographs are on display daily till then from 10 am to 4 pm.
The historical clubhouse is located at 1749 North La Brea Avenue, between Hollywood Boulevard and Franklyn Avenue, in a pink mansion on the west side of La Brea, just north of the Christ Scientist Church at the corner of Hollywood Boulevard. You can enter the driveway and park free behind the clubhouse.
Auslender’s photographs and films have been critically acclaimed at numerous national and international exhibitions, group and one-man shows. “The Birth of Aphrodite” won the CINE Golden Eagle, the Atlanta International Film Festival Silver Phoenix for “”Best Experimental Film,” and was exhibited at Cannes.
Rather than mirroring reality in photographic detail, Auslender’s films and photographs illuminate a spiritual vision of the world, bathed in divine radiance. Frozen in timeless beauty, the “Celestial Images” reflect transcendental or “peak” experiences of our oneness with the mystical universe as we surrender ourselves to receive whatever it might offer...
