When you’re on the hunt for a new job, networking is everything. You never know where the lead for your next job will come from. The woman sitting next to you on the plane, the friend at a cocktail party, another job-seeker you meet at a networking event⦠any one of these people might be [...]Mon, March 16, 2009 - 5:10 AM permalink
Hi Leslie, I am talking to this company that I am very excited about, but Iâm not quite sure how to answer this question. I told the company in my cover note that âIâm fine with market rate for the jobâ but they are insisting on me giving them a specific range of my salary [...]Tue, March 10, 2009 - 3:07 AM permalink
I got a question today from someone wanting to know how to handle references, so Iâve put together a little FAQ about it.Thu, February 26, 2009 - 9:49 PM permalink
I donât need to be psychic to tell you that a telephone interview is in your future. Itâs pretty hard to avoid really. Telephone interviews save a lot of timeâand therefore moneyâas a first step in a hiring process. Phone interviews help recruiters, agencies and companies screen candidates for skills and experience requirements, and are [...]Thu, February 26, 2009 - 12:47 AM permalink

i am a mango.
big and round,
with a freckled flush of pinks and greens on the outside,
orange and juicy, dripping on the inside,
shielding a solid and substantial seed at my core.
my skin is sometimes too thin,
but i am resilient.
i was good when i was green,
but as i age,
i grow sweeter and softer and more delicious.

I'm having some real deja vu with the new trend by right-wing wingnuts to call those who don't agree with them "anti-American."Wed, October 22, 2008 - 11:12 AM permalink - 4 comments
It was 2004, during the last election, when my friend Ian Rhett put together a compelling video for his song "(didn't know I was) Unamerican" with the message that those who believe in peace and progress are as patriotic as those who believe in war. The song caught on quickly, was viewed by a million people, and he was invited to perform it at many key election ev... read more

August 28, 2007Your feet in your avatar called me to your profile and I just spent some time thinking about how wonderful you are!
March 23, 2007A serious mature woman I know once said "Leslie appears to be serious and mature online but in real life, she's actually usually a joke-cracking silly-ass giggling weirdo!"
so true...so true(o;
June 8, 2006Leslie inspires me, and makes me think that the best years of my life are still in front of me.
April 24, 2006Building what matters, and manifesting a life in tune with the inner-being is such a treasure to find in Leslie. Having had really special time with Leslie is something really special.
Anyone spending time with Leslie witnesses manifestation in the moment.
January 25, 2006Leslie is an amazing soul - at once wise, intuitive and playful. She seems to have collected several lifetimes worth of learning, and yet has mastered the art of never being "too much" of a grown-up. I truly feel fortunate to be able to call her a friend IRL, and anyone that has a chance to get to know her, online or off, should consider themselves very lucky indeed!
January 16, 2006l wish l could describe how nifty, wise, and charismatic this woman is, but it'd end up being a novel, and l don't think l'm allotted enough space here to do so. Suffice it to say that l DEFINITELY want to be Leslie when l grow up! Be flattered and encouraged if you've made it to her friends' list, because her integrity is high and her taste is fabulous!!!
December 31, 2005There are times when I don't really like what you have to say. But I always want to hear it because I know it is honest and thoughtful and meant lovingly and constructively and that if I don't like it...it probably means I really really need to hear it. That is the best compliment I can think of to give someone. Thank you for the hard things you care enough to say and thank you just as much for the beautiful things you say. Thank you for being you and being here in the world and in my world. Thank you.
PS I changed my mind. I am going to spend NYE focusing on being greatful for my blessings. That's what this year is going to be about.
August 11, 2005Leslie is the "Ann Landers" of tribe ( that's a compliment, dammitt ! ). She is the best writer here and gives the best advice, which is always clearly conveyed and filled with warmth, compassion, sensitivity, honesty, challenge and sincerity. She has saved many heated debates and discussions, calmed people down, validated them, and let some know what's what when they were being just plain unreasonable. Bravo for Leslie !
July 7, 2005The first time I saw her online I wanted to know her, and thankfully our paths crossed. though it's been such a short span of time and we havent ever had much opportunity to really sit with one another, but in the small increments of time we have shared in conversation this incredible womyn has known exactly what to say and how to say it. and has touched my soul with her words, her candor, her wit, and her wisdom.... Thank you for allowing me to call you Friend.....

________Very Important Voice________
Not that she needed the testimonial, everyone who posts with her knows she has amazing things to say, but we wanted to remind her how loved she is before she runs off to share her voice with the world in a different way.
Somehow Leslie balances straight forward honesty with support and loving openness. So many of us in Strong Voices feel personally touched by her. We are blessed to have her time and attention, we would not be the same without her. She is one of us, part of us.
