It's this Sunday!!!!

How's it going?

I am competing in my first triathlon this Sunday 7-27-08, the Xterra
Wet suits/Solana Beach triathlon:

And I am very excited!!!! I am a little nervous about the swim but I
know I can do it : )

One of the reasons I decided to do this triathlon was because the
company that I work for likes to pick an event that we can all
participate in and also, a charity we can all get behind. I am
currently raising money for the Monarch School here in San Diego. The
Monarch School is dedicated to providing homeless and at-risk children
with an accredited education while caring for their basic needs.
Today, more than 100 kids between the ages of 7 and 18 are enrolled at
Monarch School.

This is an organization that is close to my heart. I believe that a
good education will help overcome many obstacles. There was a point in
my life when I was a troubled teen and very "at risk" of becoming
homeless. I knew many kids who were living on the streets, fighting
for their survival, and it saddens my heart when I think about it. I
was lucky enough to have a very supportive group of family and friends
who saved me from the streets, but a lot of kids aren't so lucky.

I have pledged to raise $2500.00 for the Monarch School and am well on
my way. I have raised $750.00 so far and I am determined to raise the
rest. I ask for your assistance in reaching my goal and want you to
remember that no amount is too small.......or large ; )

It’s a tough reality that not all kids are given the same opportunities. Monarch School works closely with the community and the San Diego County Office of Education to change that. They provide an accredited education to homeless and at-risk kids while caring for basic needs such as health care, food, clothing and personal hygiene. Your help can make a difference.
