well, we missed 80 cm of snow while we were in cuba. about 80 more fell the week we got back, then the next week the same thing.... the only thing to keep us sane was... yup... the hot tub!

wow - we went to brisa in santigo de cuba! it was absolutely awesome. super cheap, super clean, super relaxing, many many hours by the pool bar, good food and some fun friends. cuba does not have the animals of costa rica, but it certainly is a great place to visit. because we were in an out of the way resort, we did not have to deal with any touristy type stuff. we just enjoyed the beautiful beach, water, sun, mountains and relaxed!

The pride parade was very community orientated this year. Lots of people and families strutting their stuff. There were 350,000 people on the beach for the celebrations, plus 450,000 at night for the fireworks!

update.... it's growing!!! LOOK!!
so... we officially own land in canada, so we've decided to return to our farming roots. So far the garden has:
** lettuce **onions **radishes ** peas (x2) ** red onions ** carrots (*2) ** snow peas (for ian)
rasperries and blueberries, plus hopefully the root we couldn't dig our it is a volunteer yellow tomato from last year. There is a whole other section of garden like the one is this picture. If i have enough energy today i'll rake it and plant corn and sunflowers. (yup i planted the corn, sunflowers and cucumber and pumpkins)
it will also leave space for second planting of stuff we eat lot of! Go farmers!

snow is gone and strange new plants are growing in the yard

now that the snow is gone, we're discovering exciting new plants all over our yard. It seems the old owners planted lots and lots of tulips! yayayayay! we've got our Korms (from Todd and Christa), some roses that survived under hats, some rhubarb (from Linda) and many other surprises! we've also go four of these strange things that have "sprouted" in the yard.... if you don't recognize them, they are bike ramps...?!? Sitting strategically in between the ramps is my green house. If all goes well, we'll have tomatos (red this year), cuc's, pumkins and sweet peas (flowers) growing out of the greenhouse!

Grandma S had us over for some chicken and treats on the farm! Mom and Dad, freshly home from costa rica, stopped in and we met Wilbert and Kelly. Shirley was working so couldn't join us... Byron and Edith met us in Red Deer. They're preparing for their big house move. Wilbert was preparing for wrist surgery, which should make life much happier! Mom and Dad dropped me at the bus to be picked up at the other end by Grandpa and Grandma.

On the weekend - i went to Saskatoon and was hosted and toasted royally by cousin's Tyler and Rachelle (and baby Arielle) and at the Wist family home. Margaret took me on a tour of the Deifenbaker museum and all in all the Sasktoon crew spoiled me. This is a picture of Jan's anglican church. We saw her give the service (what a treat) and then had a big (?) potluck after ... yum yum lemon pie.

I spend 2 weeks in Regina, at Service Canada College, learning how to put Citizens First. It was a pretty good course, where I learned that my dominant color energy is Red. I also took a 2 hr tour of Regina (who knew...) This picture is the aboriginal college with only native teachers. The glass TP at the center is a chapel and the design is environmentally friendly offering shade in the summer and facing the sun in the winter. Each floor is painted white with symbolic trim (red, green, blue, yellow - earth, plants, sky, sun). Regina also has the larger man made inner city lake in the country and a lot of ghosts... and of course - Corner GAS!

Ian, Marty, Tim and I met up with Doug and Chantal, Rob and Jayne for some proper hospitality at Doug and Chantal's newly sold house! They're last blast in the burb's with us! Then the next night we had delux accommodations (thanks jo/darren) and stayed at the delta chelsea with the roof top pool! johanna met up with us for the Clutch concert. For my send off to Regina, Jenny and I shopped til we dropped (Bond Girl Boots!) fun fun fun!

Happy mardi gras and shove tuesday (albeit a week late)!!! Ian and I hosted a potluck pancake dinner! We had potatoes, huevos rancheos, beans, bacon, dessert, waffles, crepes, sausages, fruit, rubarb topped of with mimosa's and lots of fun! Tim, Vic, Colleen, Andree, Eric, Chris, Amanda, Al, Jenny, Harpeet, Stacey helped us celebrate! mardi gras is the eve of an important religious event, but in our case - it was the eve of baby Den TC 's identification.... he's gonna be a BOY!

To celebrate Chinese new year, we all got together and played ma jong at Chris Li's! It was lots of fun and i actually learned a bit about the rules and scoring. Later Sara, Colleen and I went to Mac makeup for a barbie makeover! Now check me out! who would have guessed that the elusive secret to beautiful was less-than-real lashes? Definitely an experience to repeat... maybe as an easter treat! my stylist was Jennifer and she was pretty awesome!
