How do you really define a human being?
Is a person what they do? At the moment, I'm employed full-time at a real estate office, doing general office type things. Long term, I want to be an investor and successful writer/producer. I've published and sold a few short stories already, as well as run my own small entertainment production company. I enjoy doing both. Investing is also fun and interesting for me. I remember being a kid and telling my parents that I was going to retire by age 40.

Is a person where they're from? I was born in New Jersey, spent the last 10 years in Florida, and just recently moved to the Los Angeles area. Florida's nice, but something's always called me out to California. I love it out here. So beautiful, even despite the smog and endless traffic. lol. Obviously, I think the entertainment industry was a motivating factor in driving me out here -- but honestly, there's something else about this place that calls to me, too. Not sure what. Just know I'm supposed to be here now. So here I am! :)

Is a person who they know? I've got friends all over the country, and thanks to the internet, all over the world now too. My youngest friends are still teenagers. My oldest friends are looking at retirement. I've got friends from every walk of life -- from the ultra conservative to the extremely liberal. From atheistic to super religious. Friends who are doing well financially and friends who haven't had a permanent address in the past 5+ years. I know some people who are content to disappear into the crowd and live a simple and normal life. I've also got some friends who will no doubt become huge successes and do great, widely influential things in their life, too. I make friends easily. I like meeting new people. I learn from them. Grow by them. Experience more of life with them. You can never have too many friends. And I've been fortunate to have some really great, true friends in my life.

Is a person what they know? I've got a wide list of interests, including everything from quantum mechanics to fantasy artwork. I love everything from astrophysics to metaphysics, from romantic comedies to science-fiction and fantasy. From techno and pop to rock and classical. I've studied about world religions, business and investing, web design and so much more. I had trouble picking a major in college, needless to say. I read books, talk to people who know more than me, and learn from my own life experiences as well. I love learning. I love growing. But you know what? Of everything I've ever learned, I've come to understand this: the only thing I know for certain is that I don't know anything for certain. I think. ;)

Is a person what they believe? I was raised Catholic, transitioned into a non-denominational Christian, and eventually disbanded from "religion" altogether. I'm a very spiritual person. Have a close relationship and connection to God. I'm intuitive and spiritually gifted. I find truth and value in multiple religions. But when it comes down to it, I hate the "rules and rituals" part of all religions. I seek experience, I seek connection, I seek a real encounter with the Divine. Dogma and ritual has its place and purpose, but I want something more than what humans can create.

And even though I'm ALL these things, I'm not those things. They are a part of me, but not who I really am.

How do you define a human being?

I could tell you I'm "just me," but that doesn't help give you much insight into my heart, life, and soul, does it? :)

I am a soul, having a human experience. I am a mind, learning and discovering and interpreting new things all the time. I am a heart, longing for love and connection, seeking joy and passion in life. I am a body, that needs food, water, sleep, and exercise from time to time. ;) I am all these things, yet I am none of these things. I am more than the sum of my parts. Perhaps that's what makes us human. Being more than what we're made of.

I will tell you this -- I'm a unique guy. I know everybody says that, and it's true. We are all unique. That's another thing that makes us human. But I'm unique among the unique. Get to know me if you don't believe me. :) lol. But just to give you a few fast facts of what makes me so one-of-a-kind, take a look at these other true traits about me:

- I don't settle for broken dreams. It's hard sometimes. But I'd rather be who I really am and pursue my true dreams, than live a settled life of mediocrity. It's just who I am. And I know I've chosen the harder road.

- I'm 25 years old and still a virgin. I'm waiting for my soul mate. She's going to be a special girl. It hasn't been easy waiting, but that's part of the gift, isn't it?

- I have firm and defined beliefs when it comes to God, religion, spirituality, the afterlife, etc -- yet I'm open to learning more, adapting and expanding my beliefs when necessary, and understanding of those who hold different beliefs and values than me.

- I'm both creative and analytical. I'm in touch with both my masculine and my feminine sides. I'm good in math and science, as well as writing and other artistic endeavors. I'm a pretty balanced and diverse guy.

Like I said, one of a kind. So that's a brief glimpse, a snapshot, into who I am. Now, who are you? Can the human soul even be defined in words -- or is it something that can only be experienced to be known? :)
