An Introduction to the Human Subtle Energetic System

What does it mean to be human? Our consciousness regarding ourselves: do we feel we have fully developed this? Do we think we know what reality is via our senses, limited though they are, compared to other creatures that exist in this world? (My dog would have something to say about that statement.) If we can feel it, smell it, taste it, see it and hear it, then is that reality and only that? No doubt we are in a time of great change, of marvelous transformation, of an awakening into a new understanding of our reality. The golden age is dawning (now would all muddy-minded control-freaked politicians and bureaucrats please step off)!

Alas, we can leave this hopeless-feeling mess aside and focus not on finding fault with the arrogant manner in which our world is being abused and misinformed, we can instead focus on our own selves, our own transformations. After all, this is how we will change the world, not forcing others to change.

How indeed do we help to transform ourselves and assist others too? There are many ways, and one is the path of service in the form of a healer. What is the modality? There are many, and some very beautiful ways are to affect the human subtle energy system. In fact it can be argued that all healing affects this system. We will get into more specifics regarding this in good time.

So what if you were one of the many thousands on this planet who already experience many more dimensions than the average Joe? What if it was not even a question whether auras or chakras were real? Or that healing could be as simple as laying ones hands on a body or sending vibrations from a great distance? When the invisible becomes visible, is it anymore a doubt, a question? Okay then, for those who need sensorial truths, what experiments have already been done to support such healing?

Through these articles I wish to present some of the history, philosophy and science that have been accomplished regarding energy and spirit and clearly define and explain much of the energetic healing arts (certainly various forms of reiki). So this will be one of many postings on the topic of Vibrational Medicine and the use of our innate powers of healing to change the world, for the better. I hope you will stay along for the journey.

Now a moment on cultural differences and beliefs: The Yogis of the East do not question paranormal/clairvoyant/esoteric energies as the majority of the Western mindset tend to do. In the East there are many energy arts that are mastered in the air of self-development. In the West, these very same energies have traditionally been suspect, tainted with witchcraft and demonism at worst, or with hallucinations or self-deception at best. The esoteric arts indeed have a very long history. Let us now explore some of the individuals who contributed to this history as can be found in the “literature”.

Paracelsus, having traveled to India, was the first known post-Renaissance writer to describe the sevenfold constitution of humans and the very nature of the higher body. He was the one to coin the phrase “astral”, meaning starry, what we now call the vital or etheric field (also known as the aura). It is clear from his writings that he too, could see the etheric field and that he utilized this knowledge in healing and medicine. Of course, not a surprise, the closed-minded ways of the time rewarded him with a literal poisoned demise. At least now we are a little more tolerant and less ignorant (or are we)?

A gifted and versatile scientist by the name of Emanuel Swedenborg, was a noted palaentologist, physicist and physiologist who studied the functions of the brain and the endocrine (ductless) glands (e.g. spleen, thymus, hypothalamus etc). He testified that he experienced visions and heard mysterious conversations, and was instructed by dreams – highlighting his gifts in both clairvoyance and clairaudience. After an inspiring spiritual experience, he devoted his life to theology and researched psychical phenomenon extensively.

Most noted is Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, founder of the Theosophical Society , who could communicate with the unseen, control elemental spirits and materialize objects (there are masses of recorded witnesses to these phenomenons). She was a prolific writer and predicted many scientific discoveries far ahead of her time or even our current time. She said often that there is nothing “supernatural” in the universe and that paranormal abilities are actually responses to natural laws and forces which have yet to be discovered by science. One of her greatest contributions was a comprehensive metaphysics able to overcome the dichotomy between energy and consciousness, thus helping to further an emergence of a holistic world-view in the West. To study her teachings is to dig deep into knowledge only a select few at this time have a handle upon.

Other great clairvoyants of the time included Dr. Annie Besant , Charles W. Leadbeater , Geoffrey Hodson , Alice Bailey , Nikola Tesla , Walter J. Kilner and honestly I could go on and on and on (and someday, probably will).

I wish to point out that we seem to be in constant want of increasingly more evidence to enable us to accept the paranormal even though there is a plethora of information in existence already. This expounds the fact that it is not the information but our awareness that needs to be sharpened in order to “see” the evidence as truth before us. So it presents as both hilarious and distressing simultaneously: evidence has been presented again and again…and yet so many are blind to it, while others demand more study (while needed, the existing information need not be overlooked)! The work already done seems very much ignored by the majority as well as purposefully suppressed and spun into complete laughable messes (most entertainingly in the West). Why on Earth do humans do this? Well in a word, fear.

As is said, there is nothing to fear but fear itself. Fear destroys truths like gossip and invites destruction and death in its quivering shake. We are often afraid to see and afraid to heal, afraid of change and of our own powers and innate rights. We are so afraid we cling and hoard and become selfish and distrusting of our world. We seem so afraid to let go into our magic. If we are to understand the true nature of our reality, or our existence, we need to become bravely honest and go forth with an open and unbiased heart and mind, and seek truth. The only first place to start is with the self. The mastery of the self will lead you UP the road of truth. Accepting, embracing and working through our fears are crucial steps on that road.

In order to fully comprehend, study and become a master in the art and science of energy healing, the information written in the Esoteric texts must be trusted, the self must be trusted and the experience with the practice, the proof itself.

So take some time to investigate where your beliefs lie, where the limitations of your knowledge are, and seek out the edges of the boundaries you might maintain during your search in understanding the esoteric healing arts. Wisdom does not translate into pessimism, mere logic or skepticism. To be wise is to listen and be humbled, for “there are more things in heaven and earth, than are dreamt of in your philosophy”, to quote a good chap.

You can come to trust that there is a goodness in all of life that cannot even be eliminated by thoughts that temporarily cause you to believe that negativity is the underlying reality of human life on earth... As you learn to trust the goodness of life more and more, you can create moments in which you experience a wonderful openness and deep love... You can feel an expansiveness that becomes a kind of holiness--a feeling that life is truly precious and good.
