1. Yes.
2. Random thoughts, observations, feelings, writings, pictures I've taken 3. Well, my family and colleagues aren't on Tribe (whew!), so friends... virtual and "real." Heck, maybe some strangers too... can't tell. 4. I decided an outlet might be useful, and in fact it has been. There are times when you feel like saying something to no one in particular... Also for opening up more with "friends-only" posts; taking a bit more personal risk. 5. Varies; occasionally more than one post in a day, usually one every couple days, can go a week or more with none. I started blogging 5 months ago. I get very few comments, probably an average of 1 or 2. Maybe less. (I do know from outside conversations that more people read them than comment. No clue how many.) |

1. Do you blog? Yes- complete 100 % blog addict.
2. In one or two sentences, please describe your blog. It is a bunch of lists, notes, fun thoughts, hard thoughts, random whirrings, things I have not yet processed into concrete writing, things I want my friends to know about me... it is a tool for self-purge, flirtation with people who do not know me on a mental level yet, and communication among friends. 3. Who do you think reads your blog (friends, family, colleagues, etc.)? Friends, beach people, and random strangers- my blog is not private, and never will be... i put it out there for anyone and never actually direct anyone towards it. 4. Why do you blog, or if you don't (or don't anymore) why not? I blog to get it all out, what's in my head. I blog because I get bored. I blog because somedays it is easier and less commital to type than to write it on a page. 5. Finally, some stats: how often do you post? And how long have you been blogging? What would you say is the average number of comments per post on your blog? I have been blogging since I started college- so about 18- so about five years... I started about once a month on deadjournal... then I switched over to livejournal and off and on for a couple of years there... and finaly found tribe where I post anywhere from once to five times daily, when I can... my friends read it when they have the time, but they know it is a lot of drival so they don't get upset if they miss one. As far as comments, it depedns on the subject- if it is something lighthearted and funny I will get ten or so comments, if it is something deeper and serious maybe two or three... and if no one can understand what the fuck I am talking about, no one bothers to respond (most often). |

1. Yes I blog.
2. Tribe.net is generally A. requests for help and B. information dissemination. Livejournal is both A & B, plus C. a bit of personal stuff if I feel like it: something random that's on my mind, emotional states, recent happenings etc. 3. Only friends (real-life and online-only) read my blog. Family & co-workers don't know about them, and even if they did would only be able to access the most innocuous of posts. Anything I don't want just anyone to read becomes friends-only. Anything I don't want friends to read I just don't write. 4. A. is self-explanatory. B. a blog is an easy way to share intersting/cool things I come across (often links to artists I think are great), and to send out useful info like info to events I'm attending and want my friends to as well. C. is catharsis and as a personal log. It's different when you put thoughts in a public blog, a bit more cathartic for some reason I can't explain. And having thoughts in a permanent place is helpful, I go back to them. The personal info is more for my own use than anyone else, btw - I write as though no one else reads it. 5. I post a few times a week (3-5?); I've only been blogging about a year, maybe 2; Average I guess is about 1 or 2. |

1. Do you blog?
Yerp. 2. In one or two sentences, please describe your blog. Tribe blog = random thoughts, stuff that bugs me, stuff I think others would want to read. Other blog = law student blog that doesn't talk much about the law, but more about my regular life stories that are fit for public consumption 3. Who do you think reads your blog (friends, family, colleagues, etc.)? Tribe blog = Uber Kevin, Jenn Conspiracy & SaraMitra Law Student blog = spam bots, my old roomate, my friend the poet, some random woman in Kansas and the occasion poor sod who comes across it looking for something else 4. Why do you blog, or if you don't (or don't anymore) why not? I started my law student blog because all the cool law students were doing it. Once it was obvious that I would never ever be one of the cool students I should have stopped. Alas, I'd gotten used to it, and it still seemed like a good way to keep in touch with the two most important women in my life. Sometimes I stop blogging when I can't find a way to make the black cloud funny. 5. Finally, some stats: how often do you post? And how long have you been blogging? What would you say is the average number of comments per post on your blog? I've been blogging for two and a half years, but not in any steady fashion. Lately I've been trying to blog 4 times a week. I generate almost no comments. |

1. Do you blog?
i have 3 blogs and i use my vanity tribe as a personal blog as well. 2. In one or two sentences, please describe your blog. * hellonline.com - professional, hopefully profound geek thoughts, conversations with fellow geek bloggers, exposing my projects, etc. * iblamebeer.com - not very active. silliness and stupid ideas. mostly things that came up during a nite of drinking. * supr.c.ilio.us - web2.0 snark. it used to be funny now... well let's just say Web2.0 has jumped the snark. * vanity tribe - personal wondering about myself and my environment, things people should know about me if they're gonna be my friends. 3. Who do you think reads your blog (friends, family, colleagues, etc.)? in the same order: * friends, mostly geek friends (although i know some not so geeky friends read it as well), some colleagues from around the web. * probably no one. a couple of friends maybe. * mostly web geeks from around the world. and when i say the world, i mean the bay area :) * my posse. i dont publish that tribe, i figure if anyone's interested they'll find it. 4. Why do you blog, or if you don't (or don't anymore) why not? * professional reasons and general geekiness. * i get bored and i like to share that with others. * i like to say that supr.c.ilio.us is our attempt at keeping the bubble down. we failed, btw. * feedback, promoting honesty with myself and others, a warning, showing off, looking for advice, self exploration - writing something down and having friends read it makes it so i can't hide from it anymore. 5. Finally, some stats: how often do you post? not often enough. i write when i'm inspired so a few times a week in total across all. it used to be, when supr.c.ilio.us was young i'd post at least a couple times a day if not more. And how long have you been blogging? first started with a (now defunct) LJ when i moved here, 3 years ago. wanted to keep in touch with my family and friends back home but i stopped when i got bored writing there. started Hellonline about 1.5 years ago, i think. What would you say is the average number of comments per post on your blog? on most usually none. 1-2 is good and means people actually read through the entire thing... on my personal stuff sometimes more but it's mostly my friends being clever at each other :) |

1. Yes
2. Ephemera from my mind. I type what pops into my head, to decompress, or to just meet some inner need that cannot be fathomed...before I start blogging. Hopefully, I'm clear in my own mind when I get done. 3. Friends, like-minded folks, the government. 4. I blog to provide updates to folks on where I'm at. I look for feedback from folks who are inclined to comment. Perspective often requires better optics than I have at my disposal. Some of my blogging might be considered political, some of it is just personal stuff. I also blog about the culture I find myself in as a tribe user. On tribe, I use the "friends only" blog feature if I feel that is wise. 5. I post in spurts. I'm in one know. I rarely have posted more than one blog in a day and probably create a blog entry on average every five days or so. I have been blogging since...December 29, 2005 - 3:11 PM. I'd say I get about, on average, four responses per entry... |

1. Do you blog? Not seriously. 2. In one or two sentences, please describe your blog. The few times I feel compelled to spill something over the side. 3. Who do you think reads your blog (friends, family, colleagues, etc.)? A certain segment of tribe friends. 4. Why do you blog, or if you don't (or don't anymore) why not? Few people have lives and thoughts that are so interesting that the public at large would enjoy reading their thoughts. I'm not one of them. 5. Finally, some stats: how often do you post? And how long have you been blogging? What would you say is the average number of comments per post on your blog? Infrequently. I've occasionally dumped more or less the same amount of data into various forms (.plan file, IRC, VMS profile) since around 1990. Um 3-5, maybe? More if I respond within the comments thread. |
