An Afternoon In Elysium

So I stumbled upon a hidden spot at Presidio Park last weekend that I could not believe; a little gazebo tucked into the forested trails halfway between the Serra Museum and the Taylor Street entrance to the park. As I wandered around the gazebo I started to think how amazing this place was, and what a literal paradise San Diego can be when you get out and explore it a little. This little sliver of paradise made me realize that Elysium, at least for me, is the people and the places that make life interesting. So I want to share this place with anyone interested in stopping by. This Saturday we will be gathering from about 11:00AM to 4PM for some social re-connection at Presidio Park. The gazebo is about half way up, or down (depending on where you park), the trail between the Serra Museum and the Taylor Street parking lot. We will be bringing a small grill and some tunes so please feel free to come on by and soak up the magic that is our community and the amazing place we live. Finding this place is a bit of an adventure but it is well worth the effort just to walk some of these trails and explore this place. I have drawn a red X on the attached “we are here” picture to mark the spot. If you need additional info email me or check the park website for a full size map. You can park down on Tailor Street and Hike up or drive to the top and park near the Serra Museum and hike down. This is not a major hike just a short trial in a beautiful place. Please do not bring any glass as that is apparantly a no no for the park. See you this weekend! Fall Revelations - Bound at The Stake II

A whole year has gone by since the last time we felt like being a little sinister in a public space. What a year it has been! Our first “Bound at the Stake” was mostly fucked up social experiment where we pushed peoples boundaries and comfort levels just to see what we could get away with before people got sick or really upset. Both happened and we smiled the whole time. Sometimes life can get too rigid and fixed in its everyday patterns. And, at least for me, there is real merit in stepping outside that pattern to expose yourself to people and things that make you slightly uncomfortable. I mean, what is it that keeps some people from embracing their goosebumps, enjoying the sensation of raised hair on the back of the neck, or feeling enriched by the surreal knots in their stomachs. While I don’t know what it is that keeps some people locked into their comfortable ways, I do know that I can occasionally use a kick in the ass to get me out of my comfortable patterns. Life can get really interesting when the feelings that are normally interpreted as signs to flee are harnessed as tools to challenge yourself. Are you up for the challenge? I just recieved a CD of photos from the amazing Irish Girls that camped with us at Pangea. They were amazing and seeing these pictures makes me miss them terribly.
