<div>(shameless promotion of product commence)

So I know many of us are all interweb-savvy and all, but my friend Kyra Reed has written a really great eBook on blogging. It may seem like a no-brainer, but there are still tons of people who could use a book like this. Crappy blogs are pretty much a cliche at this point.

So check out her site and if you want to know more about blogging than you ever thought possible or if you know someone who could benefit from this book, download it for the low-low price of $19.99.

My New Favoritest Sandwich or Beauty in Life

<div>So I created my new favoritest sandwich the other day and I wanted to share because it makes me excited just thinking about it.

- One piece of toast (great so far)
- Spread with crunchy peanut butter (matter of preference here, I respect you smooth people, but I'm crunchy. That's just how I roll).
- Cover in pomegranate seeds (tre magnifique!)

And yes, toast and peanutbutter are great both on their own and together, but I must admit what is making me so giddy right now is the pomegranate. And not just the taste, but the adventure in preparing and eating one.

I forget about the pomegranate each year and then it surprises me. It's like a treasure hunt that is is rewarding at every step, each removal of skin yeilding another field of rubies. It's highly complex and geometrical and rational, yet organic in design with a seemingly random order, none the same as the last. It embodies sex: juicy, tart, and sensuous, best shared with someone else, but enjoyable solo as well. It invokes a primal urge in me to sink my teeth in and lustfully devour it, but I know this will just result in a mixture of kernels and un-tasty rind. So usually I restrain myself, daintily picking each kernel out one by one and savoring them, though sometimes I can't control myself and I lunge into it, rind be damned

It's mythological, it's pornographic, it is beauty. I see god in the pomegranate. It inspires me both to be a better person and to create better art in the hopes that I may at some time create something as beautiful and complex as itself.

If you haven't this season, treat yourself to a pomegranate. I also recommend aforementioned sandwich.

Here's to beauty.</div>

Axe a simple question...

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/lobstar/blog/f016241c-0a6e-409c-95d5-22018c2de3cf"> <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/b64/af5/b64af58a-9764-4664-88fd-4549bbf14d72.thumb" width="65" height="30" alt="" />
    </a>
<div>So for those of you unawares, I purchased some Axe shower gel a couple months ago based on its packaging and attractively shaped bottle as I am highly susceptable to marketing. However, I felt that the product did not deliver on all that it promised, particularly in light of an event on Easter Sunday, April 8th and so I decided to write a letter to Axe's parent corporation Unilever channelling my Grandfather's spirit, a master of the indignant consumer letter writing campaign himself. Here is my original letter and the response I finally received (one month to the day). I received one coupon for one axe product valuing $4.99 or less.

God Bless America.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing in regards to your Axe Shower Gel Groove. Granted, the stimulating guarana and power beads have gotten my party moving and resulted in late nights, but I am concerned with the portion of the Axe Effect relating to "unrelenting female attention."

This is not to say that I am not receiving unrelenting female attention, far from it. However, my consternation stems from the lack of specificity in your product. To illustrate, let me confide that there are currently over thirty females in my humble abode and I am the only male present. While obviously the Axe Effect is working strong, I am chagrined to admit that all these ladies belong to a lesbian boating club.

Now I am by no means homophobic and I do not want to discriminate against any women of the sapphic persuasion who may benefit from your products. However, all of your advertising promises womanly attention towards men, so I was quite disappointed to discover that when your product finally began to work, it only succeeded in attracting non-heterosexual females who have absolutely no interest in "giving me some" (as indicated on your website) and have in fact given me none.

In closing, I would like to request that either you change your formula to target only the dude lovin' ladies (though chicks who get drunk and make out with each other occassionally are ok as well) or alter your labelling and advertising campaigns.

Regards,
Mr. Nicholas B. Miner

Bemused Indecision

<div>Very strange end of the year. Normally New Year's Eve is filled with expectations and direction. This year, I seem to be lacking in both (connection?).

NYE is less than a day away and I still have no clue what to do, but I also don't really seem to care. Nothing is captivating me so much that I feel compelled to commit to it. Yes, Sea of Dreams sounds fantabulous, but the effort, energy and money involved in getting my ass down there, shaking it, and dragging it back, seems a bit too much. The funny thing is that I'm still contemplating jumping in someone's car (haven't figured out who's) and heading down there (but only slightly).

At this point, the flip-flop of my mind has grown to such proportions that I am just enjoying all the options and dangling them in front of me and laughing at my indecision. I feel like when I go into Movie Madness stoned, picking up various possibilities, reading the event description on the back, saying, hmmm, that looks kind of interesting, putting it back and looking at another.

So far options include:

- Staying home
- Hanging out with a friend or two and enjoying the evening low key style
- Nice intimate gathering with a number of different friends
- Various house parties
- Getting down to some House in Eugene (sorry Zsa and Nichole, love you both, but it aint happenning)
- Getting down to some Bhangra at the Bollywood part at the Fez
- Getting down to some Solovox at the Ohm
- Managing to get my ass SF to shake it with the honies.
- Cashing in Frequent Flier miles to ring in the new year in Indonesia

As the last two are most likely not happenning and I will be staying in Portland, I'm sending this out as a query to the rest of the Portland peeps:

Water you up to, where you gonna be, wotchu doin?

Me, I'm going to just sit here and giggle.

Ta,
Nick

P.S. This issue of indecision led to a scintillating conversation last night with Tyone regarding evolution and why we as humans are always searching for what we don't have. Nice talking with you brother.</div>
