to the inevitability of loss,
you open youself to freedom.
you also open youself to a depth of emotion
that before this acceptance
was never even thought of,
much less known.
but once known,
the sweetness
and the pain
may also be introduced
like new lovers
first shyly
then full on
oh yes!

Loss of love, of hope and dreams,
Loss of expectations and
fantasy futures not yet fully formed
leaves deep aching in my heart,
that
swells up
from chest to throat to eyes
then spills out
to
trickle
down,
faster, rivulets
wearing tracks on my face
and
in my heart
of sorrow and pain
etched of mourning and loss.

Remember to keep open, to be aware and conscious, to let yourself remain present experiencing what is in the moment – feeling on every level and when fear sends thorny tendrils sneakily in, stop them.

Stop the closing, the shivering withdrawal because that separation from the present leads to the very thing which the fears says it will protect against.
