When you let go of the immediate hurt and anger, hopefully you can also forgive this human being. Because it really isn't about you, after all. It's just some wounded soul trying to make its way safely through this existence (an existence which some would argue is entirely illusory and rife with delusion of all flavors). What is safe for some can be very hurtful to others, but if that sense of safety comes at the price of your friendship, how can you not empathize with this human being? -they have lost the love and companionship of Loki! That's a tragedy that this human will have to deal with. But Loki can choose to release the hurt and anger or to hold on to it, to leave this other human being to navigate its own course and learn its own lessons, or to bear a grudge and keep wishing things were other than they simply ARE.

sometimes you just can't invest a lot in people that you recognize are really damaged. it's shitty but true.
i'm sorry loki. i'd say i know how crummy it feels, but somehow people commiserating with me never makes me feel any better. usually i am most upset with myself -- for knowing better and falling into the trap anyway. it's all a part of living. wallow, slap yourself around, spit as much bile as you need to. you'll be over it in no time and the other person will continue to live with it for the rest of her days. |

I hear you and I am so sorry you have been the recipient of such lashing out. I mean it. I have been blindsided by things sometimes and am left shaking my head is confusion. It is going to hurt for awhile and piss you off. It just takes time to rise above stuff when you get sucked down into a shit vortex. Because it is all someone elses perception of reality that may or may not have anything to do with yours. At least that is what I keep telling myself. |

I've put myself, it was my choice, through some pretty heavy leaning curves in my life. One thing I've learned is that you can be suspicious of people, selfish as well as egotistical, but when you are brought to your knees you find that people, any people, are so important to you.
