I have had so many cameras in my life!

My latest one has been kind of a pain. It was a gift from my man and unfortunately was broken when we got it. So he sent it back to be fixed, and when we got it back, it was still broken. So it is in the process of being fixed...again!

I love having a little snapshot camera to carry with me and click away. Don't you just love the digital world sometimes? Anyway. I am hoping to get it back and in working order soon. My grandson is with me and I am missing alot photos of some very cute moments. You know, those Nana moments I need to make everybody look at so they too can see the most beautiful child that ever lived. Not to mention the wonderful scenery around here. In the meantime, I have had to resort to the camera on my phone. It just doesn't do the shots justice though..sigh..

ok, the heat really isn't so bad, but it has been soooo humid...I mean, really humid...you know, maybe even 10% humidity!!

It is sooo gross.

Yes, I have lived in the desert a long time and 10% humidity is alot of humidity to me. It makes the heat hot. Yuck. I can't imagine living back east. I went to Florida once in July and when I walked out of the airport the air actually choked me with it's moisture. I had to turn around and walk back and to mentally prepare myself for the thickness of the air.

I will be glad when the monsoon season is over!

ok, so I am an evil person sometimes. yes I admit it, I get a chuckle out of watching a mean person squirm with discomfort.

Yesterday at farmer's market a silly mean person was there who doesn't like me. She was with her daughter who obviously doesn't remember who i am. The daughter comes to my soap table that her mother is avoiding. When she walks up to my table I thought, "wouldn't it be funny if she bought soap from me for her mother?" So I was chatting her up and showing her the different soap to take a sniff of and explaining the attributes of my soap and she decided to buy 4 bars. Which I gladly sold. Her silly mother walks up behind her finally and she turns and hands her two bars of my soap and says, "Mmmmm smell these, here I bought these for you." and hands her mom the two bars of soap. Ahhhh the look on Tony's face was priceless!!! I can just see Tony and her toady little husband sniffing my soap and trying to hate it! LOL!!

Yes, it made me laugh. Happy showering Camel Toe and Toady! LOL!!!

Yes, I told you I have an evil side. Laughing at mean people is evil, but funny!

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For the time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Recently I met the spa director from Sorrel River Ranch Resort at the Farmer's Market. She approached me concerning the possibility of having my soap at the spa. Imagine that! She just walked up and introduced herself. I was kinda blown away, but by now I should be use to the seredipitous blessings that seem to drop in my lap on a regular basis. It always confirms to me that I am on the right path.

Anyway, we hit it off right away and I went out for a chat. I though we were going to chat about the soap but as it turns out it was a job interview..and of course i was in my moab best...chaco's, t-shirt and I had just been swimming...sheesh...she invited me back for a hands-on last week and LOVED my massage. Yep, it never gets old hearing "That was an incredible massage"! and for the second time this week, "I can't believe you just graduated from massage school".

I just got the call and they offered me a job. I am limiting it two days a week for now in order to have time to devote to my private practice, which has been going VERY well.

The Spa is in the process of upgrading and expanding with a vision toward a wellness center/retreat. I think it is going to be awesome to be in on the ground floor of such an amazing adventure. Take a peek at the website.

came to visit over the weekend. What a joy! I got to show them some of my favorite desert places. They were impressed by the sheer grandeur and deep, soul touching beauty that is my desert home. Not to mention how fun it was to be talking massage and gettin' rubbed! Damn, I needed a massage badly!!

It was funny to watch the faces of my friends as each new view revealed itself, as the play of light danced across the canyon, as the birds sang in the trees, as we experienced the resonating silence that is this place. Now they understand why SLC was just a bit hard on my system! LOL!!

Last night as I was setting up for fire practice, I noticed the apricots on our tree were ripe! They were picked and this morning were made into a beautiful sauce for John's birthday dinner! Sooo yummy! (Happy, Happy Birthday Mr. Handsome)

I missed picking the cherries this year. I usually just stand at the little cherry tree and eat all of them each year (it is three years old), but this year I thought there might be enough to make a pie! Unfortunately I lagged a day and the birds at the cherries. I am glad they had such wonderful fruit to nourish themselves on. Next year I think I will make sure to pick them and combine them with the mulberries that are all over the place here in Moab. There is section of the trail I ride everyday that is covered with squished mulberries. It smells very fermented!! I think next year I will also go on a mulberry gathering expedition so that John can make wine from them also!

It looks like we may get almonds this year as well as a few apples and peaches. I am hoping to plant about four or five more fruit trees in the yard. It will be a regular orchard!

btw fire practice was fun, but I hit myself in the head (can you smell the hair singe??) and the chest with my snakes. Sistah Jesstah is great, but even she had some tangled poi and an impact or two. So hard to get over the fear of the fire....especially after seeing the flaming snake heading straight for my face, flinch and then feel the heat of it hit my chest...it makes me NERVOUS!!

Barefoot Massage!

While in school we had to wear a "uniform", which consisted of pants, a school issued shirt and shoes. It was nice not having to actually think about what to wear. I just grabbed a pair of pants and one of my shirts, threw some shoes on and off I go. Easy.

Now as practicing therapist I get to choose what to wear. I am still going with the polo type t-shirt and some pants (short pants actually..whatever they are called..). The best part is I have been doing all of my massage barefoot! Yeah! Feels soooooo good.

At the park I am in nice lush grass, at my house I am on rich thick carpet in my studio, and at client's houses I have been on nice carpet too. It feels great on the feet and for some reason makes me feel much more balanced and connected.

So my new name for a while is "barefoot massage". Just 'cuz I am enjoying the hell out of doing the work that I love in my bare feet...Moab style I guess!

Thursday I spent the day at Millcreek with the grandson. What an incredibly fun day! I had just had enough of work and trying to get things done so I finally took a day off. Yesterday I took him to Ken's Lake for swimming lessons. He seems to have forgotten his boldness from last year. That is ok, little steps. I am certain he will be swimming before the summer is out! We have so much fun together!

What a blessing to have my grandson here with me. We play, we hike, we swim and he helps me work everyday. He loves to explore the outdoors. Thursday he was getting a total kick out of crawdads in the creek. I gotta admit, they are pretty funny.

Also, the cooler is fixed and functioning properly, the water in the bathroom is now functioning AND tomorrow we are getting new tile to go with the Talavera sink!! Yippeee! The sink is really nice. I saw them advertised in town 6 years ago for $225. Then they were reduced to $175. Then the one I wanted lagged for a year (I was watching it in the window of a local merchant). Then it went to $75 for a long time. Then one day, low and behold it was on sale for $40 and I bought it. I knew it was supose to be mine. It is a moon and sun set in deep blue. I have had it for a couple of years, thinking that when I have my bathhouse next to my yurt, strawbale or adobe it will look great! Oh well, I decided to put it in my house now, I can always take it out before it sells and take it with me!

(the photo posted with this is one I found online, it isn't my sink, but is a talavera pot similar to my sink. I will post pics when the counter top and sink are installed. I think I am going to look for a couple of talavera tiles to accent the sink in the deep blue tiles it will be set in.)

Oh and I also worked farmers market today and not only did I have a line three people deep all morning, I picked up three new full body massage clients!!! Yippeee!!!

Oh and the local hippy mart called and asked me to come back. I told them I would do one day a week but no more for now. Don't know why I agreed except I just want to have my foot in the door come wintertime. You know, just in case massage slows waaaay down. Plus it is a fun place to work and they love me! Not to mention what a social place it is and how many locals I get to chat with when I am there. There are so many people I want to see and give business cards to. So I will be back at Moonflower starting this week.

Oh, Oh and we also have regularly scheduled fire practice and poi practice times!! Whooot! I have missed my home girls! I love you ladies (and gents).

I haven't even been home a month and my dance card is filling fast!! I love Moab. I LOVE MOAB!!!

Your kind words to me have touched my heart deeply. After I wrote that last blog post I thought others would think I was just randomly being a bitch. Not so. Your kindness and support have touched my heart. Thank you. I did not realize so many would completely understand where I was coming from.

ok, I am going to give this twelve more months. If I don't see significant improvement in this house in the next twelve months I AM OUTTA HERE!!!

I WILL NOT LIVE LIKE THIS!!!!

I will live simply in an uncluttered environment. I will have a roof over my head that doesn't leak. I will have running water in the bathroom. I will have walls with no holes in them. I will have floors that can be cleaned easily. I will have a floor, period. I will have a yard I can walk in without puncturing my feet with goat heads. I will garden without wrecking my hands with sand burrs. I will have heat during the winter. I will have a man who HELPS me take care the home or I will be VERY HAPPY ALONE and do it myself!!!

sorry. Sometimes I just have to say enough is enough. I reached my enough point. I have said what needed to be done for six years. I have busted my butt working on it. I have been dragging this albatross for long enough. I fucking give up!!!

If you want to call me a bitch then FINE. I AM.
I HAVE been patient. I HAVE been kind. I HAVE been as helpful as I possibly could. I HAVE given all. I AM NOW DONE. Show me the commitment or show me the door. The line in the desert sand has been drawn.

I talked to Chicken Pot Pie, my soon-to-be ex-daughter in law today. She is registering for classes UCMT! Her mother is a graduate too. Whahoooo!!!!!! Not only does that mean there will be yet another therapist in the family, but it means I get to have my grandson with me for the next 7 or 8 months while she is in school.

Life is so funny. I missed my grandson more than I can express while I was in SLC. Now I can have my fill...well for the next seven months I can have my fill. Can you wear a childs skin off from kissing and hugging? dunno, but I think I should try. Good thing he likes to be with Nana!

I love how blessings just drop in my lap so unexpectedly.

They boys went off to the moun'ains to fish (that is 'mountains' to those living outside Utah.). They had a fantastic time and my grandson caught his first fish. It is going to be trout for dinner! He is so excited.

What a joy it is to have my grandson here with me, showing him all around, playing like mad and having great conversations about throwing the ball for the dog, watching dragonflys hover, seeing ladybugs crawl around and making castles in the sand. He is a great kid and I am incredibly blessed!

The First Bike Trip

He panicked, took his feet off the pedals and FLEW down the path by the creek for about 100 yards until, thank god, the path became a gentle uphill. He even navigated a curve. Whoa...

I was trying to catch him, and not crash myself and I could just see us flying headlong into the creek at any moment. Afterward, he looked at me very seriously and said, "That's not fun." No kidding. Poor thing. So Grandad came and picked up the boy and I rode my bike very fast all around town just to work off some of the adrenaline. In retrospect, it really was funny. I now have a leash I can put on his seat post to control any out of control down hill action. It really isn't a steep downhill. It is just steep to my poor grandson. Poor little guy.

The picture is just before we left. He was actually wearing the appropriate skid lid. It almost came in really handy. whew.

Spent the day on Fisher Mesa yesterday. AWESOME!! The views are incredible, the wildflowers were blooming and the weather was perfect. Highly recommend this area for a nice cool hike and picnic lunch. We didn't make it to the end of the trail, just a few miles in. The sign post says 180 miles??? the guide book says 20+.?? I say...it is a long way to the end of the mesa.

I think this would be a great place to go during the hottest part of the summer and spend the weekend. I can only imagine how intense the stars must be on a hot summer night. I can't wait to be stretched out on a thermarest watching the night sky.

For those of you who don't like to hike, there are therapod tracks near the road. It makes a nice stop on the loop road drive. Check it out.

My youngest just left for college. His father came and picked him up for a "guy" trip up there.

OUCH!!! My heart is lonely already. I went and sat in his room. My little one is gone. How did that happen? Only yesterday we were hanging out heads over the edge of the sand box watching a line of ants. Only a few days ago I was cuddling a little bundle of sweet baby and singing soft songs.

I gotta get outta here today. I am off to go hiking in the sun and get some fresh air. At least I am home where I can deal with my heart pain in a way that helps me. If I was still in SLC I am sure I would have locked my self inside my apartment and just cried. However, today I think I will hike, take a picnic lunch, breath deep and be all nostalgic, weepy and mom-like remembering my sweet little boy.

Tomorrow will be another day....AND my grandson will be here. I wonder if there are any ant trails out by the sandbox?

Today I had my first gig at farmer's market. It went fantastic!! I have picked up my first chair massage account and potential full body clients AND I sold a ton of soap (I also did some trade for riconite earrings, a tie dye 'peace' t-shirt for my grandson and modifications to my bike trailer...a hippy has to barter don't you know. lol).

This is the greatest community ever! It was so nice to see all the familiar local faces, chat with everyone and re-introduce myself to my community as the newest massage therapist in town. The response was AMAZING. A local therapist even approached me to say they will refer all of their deep tissue clients to me.

Happy, happy me!
