A human action becomes genuinely important when it springs from the soil of a clear-sighted awareness of the temporality and the ephemerality of everything human. It is only this awareness that can breathe any greatness into an action. ~ Václav Havel

What they say about me

July 24, 2008
Bunny is a gem. Like a precious stone, her true value is hidden in her many deep facets. Sometimes inscrutable, on the surface she's cute, fun loving, sexy and capable, but dig a little deeper and you'll find a warm and caring friend, a penetrating mind, a wise counsel, a rapier wit and a heart of gold. Of all the people I know, Bunny is one of the ones I treasure the most.

I'd say she can move elegantly and swiftly between
- being a fine wine and a double shot of tequila
- between faux fur and the best silk,
- a great hike or a nice snuggle,
- more than best of kin, but way less than a nosy relative
- better than a good beat
...and a great friend that I hold close to my heart and would push the world off a cliff for if I EVER got "that phone call"

Love ya Kbun...

I don't know how she does it. Work, commute, frolic, make brilliant costumes with rose petals and dance all night without stopping! I love her insatiable curiosity for life.

On the slopes or the Playa she'll play
She takes life in big bites,
And often delights,

Things to do...

Walk in the rain, jump in mud puddles, collect rocks, rainbows and roses, smell flowers, blow bubbles, stop along the way, build sandcastles, say hello to everyone, go barefoot, go on adventures, act silly, fly kites, have a merry heart, talk with animals, sing in the shower, read childrens' books, take bubble baths, get new sneakers, hold hands and hug and kiss, dance, laugh and cry for the health of it, wonder and wander around, feel happy and precious and innocent, feel scared, feel sad, feel mad, give up worry and guilt and shame, say yes, say no, say the magic words, ask lots of questions, ride bicycles, draw and paint, see things differently, fall down and get up again, look at the sky, watch the sun rise and sun set, watch clouds and name their shapes, watch the moon and stars come out, trust the universe, stay up late, climb trees, daydream, do nothing and do it very well, learn new stuff, be excited about everything, be a clown, enjoy having a body, listen to music, find out how things work, make up new rules, tell stories, save the world, make friends with the other kids on the block, and do anything else that brings more happiness, celebration, health, love, joy, creativity, pleasure, abundance, grace, self-esteem, courage, balance, spontaneity, passion, beauty, peace, relaxation, communication and life energy to...all living beings on this planet.

bits, bytes, blips...

A week from now there will be playa under my feet.

A few more days of preperation, packing and perspiration,
and then I can chase rainbows and dreams,
and play with sun dogs on the open playa...

I'll be in the Alternative Energy Zone (AEZ) village - Dart & 6:30.
Look for the lightning bolt marking *flash's* camp,
the linen wind fence with tie-dyed spots on it,
covered by a million miles of aluminet...

or ask around for either of us...

Exact location will be logged into Playa Info under K Bunny,
as there might be many "bunny's" out there...

I can't wait.....!!

All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy:
for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves:
we must die to one life before we can enter another.
~ Anatole France

Sending out lots of love and good wishes to those that are pushing out,
trying to escape the confines of their cocoons,
stretching their new wings out into the bright sunlight,
flapping them gently to get them dry and strong,
gathering up the courage,
to flap them harder.. and gain flight.

.. pointing in several different directions. Which one you take is up to you.

The first lesson I learned on the playa, was that plans made: can and do change.

When we left Reno in caravan, part of the party went the wrong way for a few miles, resulting in a turn around to get back on track - which put us some time behind the rest. Being part of the late party.. we arrived at our reserved location and found the smart ones not there. hmmm...?

We landed, unpacked and set up camp. A short walk around the neighborhood found the rest of US a block away. Well.. okay, I thought.. this is what they mean by plans change.

Okey-dokey.. let's just roll with it.

Now, it seems, I've having to relearn this lesson while making plans for BM 2008. Many of my fellow camp mates aren't going this year, for various reasons. Some are still on the fence. A chunk of them are creating a theme camp, Black Rock Bureau of Hospitality - which is quite a bit more than I wanted this year on the simplicity factor. I will be stopping by to say hello.. and to get some hot cocoa and cookies...!!!

I don't know where I'm camping. I don't know who I'm camping with. I will make a SERIOUS effort this year to get to Playa Info and log K Bunny location into the database. This time for sure! But.. as for now... I'm just not set on any plans.

Okey-dokey.. let's just roll with it.

So.. back to real life. Today, I decided to bail on a lower level meeting out in San Bernardino. I just wasn't up for the drive.

Good thing. Mrs. Karl was planning on picking up my floor tile today - I decided to meet her at the tile yard. Wrong tile. Second time in a row. The tile place tried to put the error on us.. and that did not sit will with Mrs. Karl.

Uh-oh.. look out.

There was words and emotions, I was stressed and trying to calm her down... as was the manager. After it was all said and done, we walked out of there with the right order - assured by the manager.. at the price we were originally quoted - a savings of almost 40%.

I swear that woman could talk a lion into shaving off his mane.. and them have him apologizing for looking so rough and wild. Truly, I've met no other person like her. If only she where on tribe.. she'd see this. Karl.. send it along.. oh, and I'm still waiting for a mojito in the bar.

ahem...

tribes.tribe.net/ilovethis...88f1dd812f

Other choices of which green light to take resulted in fruitful and unexpected benefits today. I'm getting closer to getting ready for BM and to having a real kitchen. Whew!!

So.. when you are faced with a choice.. look up and see - how many green lights do you have?
May seem like just one, but there are probably many.

Take some time... choose what you think is the best option,
... . and if it's wrong......
Dont be afraid to turn around
and go a different direction.

Okey-dokey, let's just roll with it.. shall we?

They say all things come to an end, but hopefully in this case.. it's not the end.. just maybe a hiatus.

After 8 years of providing bumpin' beats in the hot sun of the playa, The Deep End is calling it quits. 2008 will be their last year - or so they say. Maybe it just time to re-plaster, retile.. and then it can be filled up again.

If you didn't know.. The Deep End is a pool reference. I've treaded water there several times, never quite being able to reach the bottom of all that fun. Maybe I should bring a snorkel this year.

If you are going to Burning Man this year, make sure you hit The Deep End on a hot, sunny afternoon. Bring a cup, some mixers for the bar... and be prepared to dance your ass off. 'cuz you will..

And if you'd like to support The Deep End.. go to their website and make a donation!
