</a>
<div>YOHOO!!!!! Here is the call for this years course of
********************************************************************************************************************************************
Quest of the Radical Crosspollinators:
A Pioneering Journey That Activates and Supports New Ways to Weave and Tie Together Our Communal Experience as Individual Spirits

In this quest, to commence in the spring of the year of the rat, a group of radical queers of all genders and colors will travel the hollows, meadows, and mountains, seeking wisdom, community, profound conversation, transformation, and spiritual insight. On this journey they will revel in the company of other like-minded folks who also desire the opportunity to reflect and expound upon our experience, dreaming and imagining the future. At various gatherings across the land we will embrace and explore merriment, costume, revelry, humor, wit, satire, love, compassion, wisdom, experience, frivolity, passion, joy, sadness, tears, laughter and the desire to dream.
The genesis of this idea was born in the forest, at the culmination point of three days spent visioning on Halloween Ridge (SMS) about “what the future might hold.” It also reflects ideas and dreams expressed in a number of conversations held at gatherings at ZMS, SMS and Wolf Creek. One topic that persistently appeared was the powerful potential of radical crosspollination. Just think, for a moment, about the vital role bees play in pollinating the fruit trees, the flowers and the vegetables. My dears, bees are at the very core of our subsistence.
The Quest of the Radical Crosspollinators (QRC) intends to hold a series of empowering and thoughtful discussions at various gatherings, beginning with the late-April Beltaine gathering at Short Mountain, and culminating with the presentation of final projects in San Francisco in November. We will explore the power and complexity of describing gathering experience and the power in having one’s voice heard.

Goals
The following is a short list of goals for this endeavor; others will emerge in our crosspollinator discussions:
1.	Exploring the power and complexity of the gathering experience.
2.	Invigorating local “faerie” cultures.
3.	Fostering the enhancement and evolution of our “web” of connection.
4.	Creating a common voice for discussing our broader culture without speaking for each other.
5.	Attracting new opportunities through exploration.
6.	Engaging in powerful work, while maintaining an emphasis on play, frivolity, and lightness of being.

We hope to attract new opportunities into our lives through readiness and a clear understanding of our common interests. Opportunities are in abundance, and by practicing honest self-awareness, organizing our resources, and forming clear intentions, opportunities will result in substantial personal growth and achievement.
There are many benefits to be gained from discussing the gathering experience. Yet how do we create a common voice without speaking for each other? Collectively we will generate a method of discussion without making assumptions about the thoughts and views of the other members of our greater community.
Questions we might ask ourselves when embarking on a quest that furthers our individual and collective spiritual growth: What opportunities do we want to create? How might we implore the universe to assist us in the manifestation of new projects and ideas? What other ways can we prepare ourselves to be ready for new opportunities that, in turn, will open space for extraordinary events to occur?

Participation
Crosspollinators will begin with an in-depth conversation intended to help each of us formulate intentions for participation in the quest, as a formal way to open individual portals. It is our experience that the formation of intentions leads to paths of empowerment. Also, everyone involved will be asked to commit to attending the first and last gathering (Short Mountain Beltaine ‘08 and Final Paper Presentations in San Francisco), and to attending 2-6 of the other gatherings (i.e. a minimum of 3-4 gatherings total from the list, we would prefer 4 but realize that work and financial considerations may be hindering). Please consider all that this may entail for you in taking on this commitment and responsibility.
Another goal of the quest is to build a network of caring and sharing among fellow Crosspollinators. We will form carpools for travel to the gatherings, and do fund-raising (grants and fundraising events) to help meet the transportation costs of any Crosspollinators who have financial limitations. All of the events in the quest are “No One Turned Away For Lack of Funds” events, but we also ask the participants to contribute coins ($) to the gatherings (according to each gathering’s suggested donation scale) if that is in your realm of possibility.
At each gathering there will be many opportunities to contribute in non-coin ways. We plan to do some of this work as a group. At each sanctuary we will take on a (manageable) land project to benefit that particular community; at some gatherings we will cook “crosspollinator dinners” (possibly with fullpull dance parties and some great djs); and at other gatherings, such Utah and San Francisco , we will need to meet nearly all of our cooking needs collectively.

Our Calendar
Gathering #1

April 29 Short Mt. Sanctuary , Liberty TN :

A convocation of all participants will be held prior to the Beltane Gathering at Short Mountain Sanctuary. This extensive introduction to Quest of the Radical Crosspollinators (i.e. QRC 101) will be held at the sanctuary or at a nearby location. These meetings will provide the groundwork for the Quest and provide opportunities to outlay individual and collective intentions. We will also discuss the ethical issues and responsibilities surrounding the quest.

April 25-May 4, Short Mountain Beltaine Gathering, Liberty TN :

At the Beltaine Gathering, the crosspollinators will focus on putting into practice the ethical considerations discussed in the previous gathering. Ultimately, a crosspollinator code of ethics will surface and receive consensus. The second focus of this gathering will commence in a public event, a round-table (or round-robin) discussion facilitated by Ganesha entitled “Seven Generations of Faeries to Come.” Following this event will be a smaller discussion within the QRC group aimed at organizing the ideas that came from the public event. Finally, fitting into our need to begin organizing our communal resources, QRC will assist and help organize a series of skill-shares taught by people at the gathering.

Gathering #2

June 6-10, Wolf Creek (spiritual gathering) , Wolf Creek , OR:

The Wolf Creek spiritual gathering will be the central focus of this gathering—as there is so much work to do at a this spiritual gathering. QRC discussions will be focused on a better understanding of the ceremony for Crosspollinators involved, and a forum for discussion our dance, which can involve deep emotions and powerful experiences. In fact, QRC will be a silent humble component of the this spiritual gathering experience. Crosspollinators who participate in the Naraya will be asked to follow the lead of the Naraya elders and facilitators. Participation in spiritual gathering requires completing a gate keeping process. QRC group discussions will occur before and after the 4-day experience.

Gathering #3

June 26-29, Embracing Our Queer Spirits Gathering Salt Lake City Utah

Embracing and Experiencing our Queer Spirits: Are you prepared to have an extraordinarily stunning life? The Utah QRC gathering encounters our lives as living Queer Spirits. Together we will strive for a new paradigm of profound living as Queer people as envisioned and defined by Queer people rather than monolithic heterosexist culture. Through the embrace of our Queer Spirituality we will create a container, a place of permission, to freely follow the heart to a place that liberates opportunity on a deep soul level. In this container we will create a process, a journey, in which we Queer Spirits inhabiting human form will gather in circle, in ceremony, in ritual, in our sexuality, our sensuality, or psychology and our deep, and at times, unknown essence. The vision includes tapping into the magic and the ancestral knowledge of who we are as individuals of a Queer nature. This Queer Sprit quest has an ambition to create an intimate space in which individual truth; vision and stories are explored, expanded, embraced and then witnessed and brought forth. By embracing our inherent power
we can work to break through the hurdles that challenge us in relationships, sustainability, intellectual pursuits, spiritual growth, and prosperity. Through this work we will enhance and enliven our dance with all of humanity as our planet encounters profound change and evolution.

Gathering #4

Shamans Gathering Zuni Mt. Sanctuary, Ramah , NM Aug 15-24 :

The Shamans Gathering will continue the quest of engaged personal practice by exploring ways to bridge the individual process with the communal. Group discussions on building, sustaining and creating new models for community will anchor the work of this gathering. Additionally, Crosspollinators will have the option of joining a wide variety of workshops presented by attendees of the Shamans Gathering and presenting their own workshops if they so choose.

Gathering #5
TBA

Gathering #6

Late Sept-Early Oct Fall Gathering Short Mt. Sanctuary, Liberty , TN :

The work or the quest at the fall gathering is to honor and exquisitely celebrate faerie history and our faerie history makers. Luminaries of the faerie community’s past and present will be invited to record an oral history series. Tentatively, the Crosspollinators will stage a collaborative performance during the gathering entitled: “Faerie Elder Storytelling,” encouraging elders to tell outrageous stories of our collective history.

Gathering #7

Oct 25-Nov 3, Samhain Gathering, Wolf Creek , OR:

Samhain at Wolf Creek Sanctuary is a paragon of faerie ritual culture. This gathering provides an opportunity for Crosspollinators to experience a profound ritual that has been revived and nurtured for decades by the Wolf Creek community. At Wolf Creek Samhain, pagan ancestry is truly explored and the expression “the veil is very thin” is vividly experienced. It is strongly requested that all Crosspollinators attend this gathering, as it plays a pivotal role in ending the faerie ritual calendar.

Gathering #8

Nov 8, Final Paper Presentations, San Francisco , CA

All Crosspollinators will present a final project that reflects upon their journey through insights gained in gathering experience and introspective thought. The form of the final project is open to a wide variety of avenues of expression such as formal paper presentation, a series of poems, a slide show presentation accompanied with a narrative of your journey, a dramatic or comic play, a performance piece. Final projects can be collaborations between Crosspollinators. After all of the presentations, a group discussion will be held to provide emotional and intellectual closure.

Nov 9, Faerie Symposium, San Francisco , CA :

The Faerie Symposium will be planned and facilitated by a group of individuals—from both the QRC community and outside—interested in deep, thoughtful discussions of issues concerning the faerie movement and a variety of other workshops and individual presentations. This will be an opportunity for crosspollinators to participate in discussions and present individual work (if they so choose) as well as an introduction to some of the great thinkers/do-ers of the “faerie” community. Goddess willing, there will be an awesome final party hosted by a fabulous Bay Area faerie yet to be determined.
Faerie Pop-ins
At several of the gatherings, guest instructors will provide short workshops covering a variety of topics and skills. If you or someone you know is interested in information regarding being a Faerie Pop-in, contact Lapis Luxury.

Facilitation
QRC discussions will be facilitated by beekeepers, who will help to weave the threads from gathering to gathering. Although facilitated, discussions—and the quest in general—are not intended to focus on any one individual. There will also be a group of check-in facilitators, who will provide check-ins for all crosspollinators in the course of the QRC.

Registration and a BeeKeeping Conversation will be required for this quest, to commence for each cross pollinator.

Our beekeeper will be:
lapis luxxxury lapisluxxxury@gmail.com

Our maiden of registry will be
jimmy rose trojandove@yahoo.com

    </a>
<div>It as been a good time. I have been giving reading at the psychic tarot fair which has been a great reclaim for me, from being fired from the bok project i was involved in for two years. It is good that spirit has given me the opportunity to share my gifts of divination and use it as a gift to help others, moving past ego and the needs of others.

It has been very good to see the support i have past the ways of those who don't really get it. I see that in our times my witch doctoring have come in the ways of attuning my people with sentences much like a chiropractor will adjust with a movement to the body. My job is sometimes to adjust with a silence or a feww sentences to help move people in the right way. Lots of times these conversations are telephonic where i must send my spirit to the folks and also listen to guides to give right adjustments to those in need.

I am making my way, through and past my experiences in rural tennessee. I have been there for eight years and iam seeing the good work i have done and looking past the needs of my ego. This is not easy but a worthwhile spiritual practice to see that my soul work is for others to learn through my heart medicine. Instead of getting caaught up in what i dont have i look to make space for goodness to come. This has been a huge clearing and lessons of forgiveness are always needed. The suffering i have had as a black gay male allows me to become a master teacher and a allows me to excell in my witch doctor practice.

Currently i have taken on allowing my spirit to move out and be more open to helping others. This has been a good change for me and i am taking this leap with trust in the great mystery to help my fly.

many blessings

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/luxxxury/blog/9817b56b-9330-4ef1-a612-6dc14c283348"> <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/768/188/76818810-feda-4f08-8722-87a5862115c3.thumb" width="65" height="64" alt="" />
    </a>
<div>In the coming rat year, i will be a very busy shaman working on a double movement.

The first movement will be "The Quest for Radical Crosspollinators" i.e THE HIVE. The Hive is the seed for creating a paradigm called Mountains Institute. We will be setting forth a curriculum of gathering this year, showing that gathering is in fact our new way of learning, connecting, loving. A new type of education. The Paradigm of Mtns Institute is in its beginnning stages with the goal to create a system of upliftment that is outside of money, hierarchy and power. Instead focusing on educational upliftment and enlightenment. This process has been scary and a bit frightening because we are hoping to reowrk the educational system that is currently in place and hope to move the faerie (and their friends ) movement forward that does not allow drama to be the impetus of our lifestyles. But instead transmutating ignorace, oblivion and lack of care into upliftment and forward thinking that is inclusive of all genders, classes, races, and ways of being.

The Hive seminar this year will be an option of attending 3 to 4 gathering out of seven that will occur around the country hopeful to include most faerie sanctuaries and some yet to come. Our intention in these gathering is to be service oriented and meant to give more than to take. Educate rather than ridcule and alchemze the gray area into a platform of power for our people to catapult and use our wings to fly us where we want to go.

The second movement i will be working on is he Skull Project which will happen in Novemeber in New York CIty. You can check out www.theskullproject.com which is an organic record of the public art ritual that occured in St. Marks Church in the east village to commemorate those lives lost in the Iraqi conflict.

Four years ago i was one of the co-facilitators of the project and i am honored to be a parto fo again in the coming year. This public art ritual was a great way to push through the malaise of apathy that our our country has been conviently allowed to fall into. I am honored to be a part of this movement again to allow people a helpful way to grieve and to bring validity to those whose lives have been lost in the Iraqi conflict. I have also started a skull project tribe.

If you are interested in participating in any one of these movements i completely encourage you. I am excited and i hope that you will be too. Lets think outside of our boxes and spread our wings .........

    </a>
<div>This piece is dedicated to my friend Tim Kellner, HA!, who has just passed. He is such a beautiful and eloquent man who in his state told me he would see me on Thursday, just like he always would. Ha! Told me the one regret he had was to love fully the men who loved him unconditionally, if he could have loved them in a different more fulfilled way he would not have had this regret. This text is for those men who love men to have some guide some push to love like my friend would have wanted you and me to have created the stepping stones for ourselves to move forward.

***********************************************************************LOVE222******************************************************************

Love is not a competition sport that you must duel or fight in order to get to some place of love. It seems love happen in the small slices of life that the universe gives us and it is our jobs to make it sustainable like a garden. The symposium love is to bring takes much longer to achieve of we are not able to make room for love to grow to be sustainable in our lives. Taking love from another will not bring sustainability; for it is time to become the Bodi Satvas we are missing in our daily lives. Gay love is not supposed to be competition. With men in ponderous gazes at each other as conquests instead of each other as gardens and sanctuaries that no one owns but shares from , enjoys each other from, and loves as unconditionally as one can. Because someone is so slow and close to you does not give you more reason to put expectation and needs on them. Each others hearts are the sanctuaries we must steward if we unleash bravery to be vulnerable and open to the nurturance; the nurturance we are in drought of.

Instead of every morning of asking what someone is going to do, might I encourage instead, “ how is the lover in you doing in loving?” Looking past what we have been fed to digest what it means to be a man we define new love that sustains ourselves. This is new love, that which does not work must be composted so that new love and fruit may bare from it. Looking past each others foibles is how we levitate each other into a sky of understanding. Flying together is the bliss of love. They are small slices of time and our expectations do everything to get in the way of making love. Its our duty to make love out of horrid dismal and pathetic circumstances.

Now is the time to create loving circles of health-heart-ass-penis-soul care that is comprehensive and that covers accidents and the wrong doings of the ignorant. The love we make is our insurance that someone will be around in our end times. It is good to not to wait until later in life to make love. We need to be able to wake up in morning that give us love unconditionally like the sun. We need to cultivate lovers as genuine as the unconditionally of cats and dogs. The love we make is all we have to share with each other to make the hearths with, to make the grand halls with, we ave foundations that have turned to ruins before our eyes. Our heritage has left amendments of hate and apartheid that must be rectified in bring our circle together. Undoing the walls of silence that have created moats around our hearts. Old dilapidated building in the mountains of our minds must be renovated. Wouldn’t be great if our hearts were the condominiums we shared, our hearts being the open circles that everyone ate and shared from. Many men do not know how to love, for their loss is the privilege of this society. We are trained if we loose our power we are not worth anything. Our love is the treasure we have. To not think in this way is self sabotage. Love making love and creating love for others is the way we heal each other and our planet.

Love is the hardest work because so many of us do not know how to do it. So many of us choose our expectations instead of cultivating the bliss of love. We have all these reasons why we cant make room for love in our lives, because resentment can seem so justified, the hate can seem so much stronger than the love we must alchemize out of unfortunate circumstances, the love we each manifest and water helps make our lives more sustainable. Share and make love out of nothing, beyond the silly excuses the mind may offer, is the most worthwhile and needed on this earth now, because love may become extinct one day if we do not keep it alive for each other, keep it as a possibility ever day to have and share and live in, not outside of . Let love not be out of fashion or to be too much work for you: because wouldn’t be a shame if the beautiful birdsong had nothing to match us inside. If not for love wouldn’t the sunset get lonely without lovers to look into it. Give it another chance, make love out of nothing, it is the easiest and most beautiful magic we all have the blessing of giving.

We can not expect others to love us and to fill in our blanks. We unfortunately must do that for our selves. Gay men , black men , gay womyn black womyn have thick selves with years, decades, centuries of oppression that must be put through a pyschic back-hoe in order to escavate the real love treasures that are in desperate need of nurturance and not critique and standardization and commodification….

    </a>
										<div>
Jungle love (free verse)
Love 304

In the above apartment, a woman screams, ‘I am the mother the father and everything'. It is a flashback to my childhood, one I have swallowed silent, one I alchemize on a daily basis into love. Arguing is not loving. Disputes show your point over another bringing another person to only find reason in one way. Love is beauty because energies which was once complacent are moving with each other. Love is organic like vodoo like magic gardens..Does the woman’s yelling bring he lovers closer. No, her yelling tears the flowers from their childrens souls. Furthermore she remains loathed. Tears from my eyes breathe the need to educate love production; on a daily basis, as regular as a daily paper, knowingly it will be the key to save our world . Her screams project the holes that do not receive the life-force they need to be sanctuary.

Yes we have folks who make monuments, we have folks who make war, we have those who make cures, who have those who make peace, and we have those who make love. Can we learn to make our relationships the structures that support our ever evolving development. Black in the day, the tribes made this love with a person, but now we have been disconnected in our tribalism; our love must be the new jungle that each of us may grow our tropical fruit that we give to our lovers through our hearts. Our hearts must be the untamed jungles where beautiful tucans may preach their cacophony in.

Yes sister above me who screams when people do not listen , when she knows we all hear her, and when the love leaves anger transmutating scenes that were once good into tragedy .It is never too late to make love .Shirley Bassey says love is the easy thing to do. Yet why is so hard. Because we have more love learning to do. I talk myself out of the yelling workshop from the sister upstairs. Just like now, we must filter water to drink it , so do we with consciousness, Bypassing the hates and attitude and treating its green kryptonite infectious rays into something that works and does not continue the unlistening that plagues our lives. Because often people live the lives that others want them to do

Loving oneself is letting one to shape oneself after the best part of what they see in others. What is reflected back is what you can bring to your own betterment. A lover is the mirror and if it is unconditional, even if it is broken we make a monument out of treasures that the fallen tower has left behind. Yes it not easy to breathe through violence and make love out it. Helping lives to transform into the best part of themselves is how our organic love cooperative loops and hoops and reahes around. For the woman above nothing will be enough until she touches and heals her heart through cultivation and love production in a good daily basis way .

<div>after finishing my internship at short mountain west i have to take this time out to shout out appreciation for all the greatestness of patience and love i have expereinced. Over looking many foilbles is part of life;s great mystery. so many of the gifts i have learned this year have made me grateful for those who know how to treat me well, beyond the infinite need for neediness. The best people for me have been those who have brought out the best in me, and not those who seek silly squabble for attention. I appreciate those who bring out my shamanity gently and do not test it, as if i were aleister crowley needing to prove i can turn a human into a camel. Seeing through this eye of the needle, my body is appreciative of the gardening and bringing me closer back to godisis consciousness. God consciousness still coagulates but godisis energy has shown me to love 101 betterr and forgiveness 504 better. Belief and clearity have been rocks for me, and good friends have become the foundation that i have come to appreciamatate.....

long live you and goodness and the love we have to make and recreate everyday

many blessing

<div>

Ancestors , we have been taught to stay separate
To believe in battles ,gains and lossess as significant
Instead of season’s genuineness and generosity.
You’ve seen seasons change witnessed frost encrusting earth
And watch the death of men for gains and losses
In lands where no flags need be
Instead of celebration of cycles seeking new synonyms in symmetry
And filling the voids we so ever ignore and wonder why we are so so sad
And still proclaim and eat the freedoms of others for independence.

Your blood is in this land
It is not only hardened by the frost but by your tears that bloom the trees
That are in extinction like wisdom like good stories like home cooked meals
Like good friends.

The time that your pain is separate from our pain
Is over. Let these words be the first stones
Of a very long bridge of communication
Where we may witness each other
Acknowledge each other
And breathe once again under sun under moon
Under blossoms of new life that breeds the oxygen
Those to come will certainly need.

How many people
Do we need to consense to give up the entertainment
Of our drama. Remember laughter, the bells of our soul,
It bellows to remind us we are enough.

Remember in touching trees
We are portals gates of life
Close to an energy that should not be denied.

I can not give up my light
To luminosity outside of myself that promises to shine
Flame must be from my center
Remembering the bellowing of heartbeats
Our minds are our hearts and our words
Are the rivers that lead us back into each other
Making those space
Between us closer. </div>

Being all human, on different levels,
I wish for my words to heal you
And to get to you in those places
Where you to get open, to help you,
To fill you
You
You are beautiful no matter what you’ve done
No matter how well you ain’t learnt
To love yet.
Structure can get in the way of love flow:
Push back to get forward. Yeah we can’t do the work for you
But we may try to anyway. See that ever necessary love workshop has become extinct because the lack of care
Tribes
Villages
Community.

We always gonna run away from out demons
Or cycle into them, yet some spirits tell me we can
Carry bundles of people’s intentions hopes and portals
Carrying their new lifestyles
And letting others know they can do the impossible lover--work too.
Yes we become godisis’ now doing the long hard work of re loving and
Re making each of into the gifts
And treasures we are
Alchemizing damaged goods and dilapidated buildings into
Gardens and sanctuaries and opportunity centers
Freedom heart rainbow lovers
Yeah I m talking to you
And yet all of this is a projection
Just like any fractal before being and any possibility before
activation.

<div>Water for Corn on a Blue Moon in May

One minute at a time
One word at a time working with a love that may work
Or may be veiled to reveal a different detail
A different ending; loving someone before their ending
Reminding someone to remember, the way we water people is this
Rather than give up

One minute at a time
One word at a time with the flow
That may work or open a piece of time to make the world better
So that good tears will flow
So that good tears will flow to change life into
A masterpiece
To flourish into a simple symphony seeping water into
Ignorance flooding with swooping sentences all
Into new details alchemically.
Details that light your ways
Keeping us alive and waking us gracefully like the bird’s cacophony--
Their you whoo saves me everyday
Their swooping sentences in chords I need not understand but breathe
In with my sweet ignorance of their translation
And still breathe
The song
One minute at time
One note at a time
So that good tears will flow
So that good tears will flow
And keep our lights on inside
And enlighten the caves in others
When they are ready to wake to change to wake to change
One minute at a time
One breath at a time
One note at a time

The freshest ink on the ancestor wall is often the saddest: it’s hard to see past
The terrifying images of those past, guardians with bewitching eyes sharp jowls
And gargantuan claws make sure the fresh hearts and those filled with blood
Stay on this side of complimentary. The alchemy between the living and the dead
Is time mixed with a little dissonance and some meaning. I heard a man in a subway tell
Another life is about fifteen minutes long. He and you better grab life,
Get a hold of her. I say ride her and when its time for you to fall off you will
And fall like scents to the end of the veil ready for the next one.

<div>Meaning makes sentences? (Triptych to my ladies)

Sense falls as pomegranate seeds (blood from Oya)
In a field of daffodils who just made it through the frost
Getting into the earth; making it with the earth, making fruit out of itself
Like each human does with their bodies making themselves with the earth
Making fruit out of themselves making sure they grow
Inbetween the loudest cries they have: birth and it’s ending.

							Each go finite
Like love, like mangoes (cum from oshun)
Out of season: a simple solution the body needs all along.
All these assessments brought to you by fragility :
Blossoming buds if we take the benefit to accolade and smell them.

Why do they wait to till Sunday to praise ?
And gulp of the milk of spirit (tears from yemeya)
When the fruit of each person can be tamped down
Thrown away and scoffed at. Beautiful passengers must
Take off and land in the hearts again with barrels of chi aloft on their crowns
Enough to allow us to walk with full hearts again and replace the jade.

more about lapis the stone (WARNING!--word fluff about my name geneology)

<div>it seems as though folx are always asking about lapis and what it is...so i took some time for research...

the enclosed poem is by William Butler Yeats...
as well as notes from websites across the large ethereal stratosphere

Lapis Lazuli

I HAVE heard that hysterical women say
They are sick of the palette and fiddle-bow.
Of poets that are always gay,
For everybody knows or else should know
That if nothing drastic is done
Aeroplane and Zeppelin will come out.
Pitch like King Billy bomb-balls in
Until the town lie beaten flat.

All perform their tragic play,
There struts Hamlet, there is Lear,
That's Ophelia, that Cordelia;
Yet they, should the last scene be there,
The great stage curtain about to drop,
If worthy their prominent part in the play,
Do not break up their lines to weep.
They know that Hamlet and Lear are gay;
Gaiety transfiguring all that dread.
All men have aimed at, found and lost;
Black out; Heaven blazing into the head:
Tragedy wrought to its uttermost.
Though Hamlet rambles and Lear rages,
And all the drop-scenes drop at once
Upon a hundred thousand stages,
It cannot grow by an inch or an ounce.

On their own feet they came, or On shipboard',
Camel-back; horse-back, ass-back, mule-back,
Old civilizations put to the sword.
Then they and their wisdom went to rack:
No handiwork of Callimachus,
Who handled marble as if it were bronze,
Made draperies that seemed to rise
When sea-wind swept the corner, stands;
His long lamp-chimney shaped like the stem
Of a slender palm, stood but a day;
All things fall and are built again,
And those that build them again are gay.

Two Chinamen, behind them a third,
Are carved in lapis lazuli,
Over them flies a long-legged bird,
A symbol of longevity;
The third, doubtless a serving-man,
Carries a musical instrument.

Every discoloration of the stone,
Every accidental crack or dent,
Seems a water-course or an avalanche,
Or lofty slope where it still snows
Though doubtless plum or cherry-branch
Sweetens the little half-way house
Those Chinamen climb towards, and I
Delight to imagine them seated there;
There, on the mountain and the sky,
On all the tragic scene they stare.
One asks for mournful melodies;
Accomplished fingers begin to play.
Their eyes mid many wrinkles, their eyes,
Their ancient, glittering eyes, are gay.

Lapis-lazuli, also called lapis or lazurite, is not your normal type of gemstone. It is not pure like a diamond, ruby or sapphire. Lapis-lazuli is a compound consisting of various minerals, such as augite, calcite, diopside, mica, haüynite, hornblende and pyrite, just to name a few. The stone's coloration varies from dark blue to a lighter shade of blue. Because of the shuffle of ingredients found within Lapis-lazuli sometimes green coloration comes out and very rarely will a lapis-lazuli stone be completely green. Because of the pyrite, fool's gold, lapis-lazuli looks like the night sky, with the specks of gold relating to the stars. The color of the stone is very opaque, only really thin cut sections of the stone are translucent. Because of this opaqueness, lapis-lazuli is cut differently than other stones. Diamonds are cut with many facets because of their brilliance. This allows the light to be caught and bounce around inside the stone before exiting. This doesn't happen with lapis-lazuli. It is rare for a lapis-lazuli to be cut with facets as they won't be seen very well, and won't create a brilliant effect like with the diamond. Instead, Lapis-lazuli are cut on either curves or planes, meaning beads or flat and round, like a good skipping stone. However, lapis-lazuli can be used for carving, as a lapis-lazuli buddha statuette has been found in Afghanistan.

Lapis-lazuli is a rare stone, with only three main veins around the world. One of the oldest is found near the source of the Amu-Darja river in the Badakshan region of Afghanistan. The mining process in that vein is very similar to how it was thousands of years ago. Another strong vein is found on the western end of Lake Baikal in Siberia. It is also found in three nearby rivers, the Talaya, Malaya Bistraya and Sludianka. However, these deposits in Russia are considered to be of lower quality to those in Afghanistan. The Siberian lapis-lazuli tends to have less flakes of pyrite, and also a red/violet core. The last major vein, considered to be of even lower quality than the vein near Lake Baikal is the one found in the Chilean Andes Mountains. The vein is located near the sources of the Cazadores and Vias rivers, two small tributaries of the Rio Grande. Here the stone appears in beds of white and grey limestone. The lapis-lazuli found in Chile usually has a greener tint than other sources, and the stones are often marred by the strong presence of calcite, creating white patches in the stone. The Chilean lapis-lazuli also has a lighter color than its asiatic brethren. Lapis-lazuli has also been found at Mount Summa, the crater of mount Vesuvius, as well as the island of Burma.

Lapis-lazuli has had many uses over the years. A powder was made from grinding up chunks of lapis-lazuli and worked into a paint to create the color ultramarine. Nowadays, ultramarine is easily created artificially, at a much cheaper cost. Both the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg and the Castle of Tsarkoe-Selo contain rooms which use lapis-lazuli as a trim. This was pure luxury and a sign of the tsar's wealth, akin to having a golden toilet seat. Lapis-lazuli was also used in jewelry as brooches, rings and amulets.

However, it might have been the ancient Egyptians who had the most interesting uses for the gemstone. Papyrus 3027, an ancient text, from the 15th century and currently residing in the Berlin Museum, spoke of a necklace made of lapis-lazuli, malachite, and jasper beads. The necklace was worn by a sick child and a chant was sung, warding off the disease. In a text from a century before, the Ebers Papyrus, a cure for cataracts is discussed. Ground lapis-lazuli is added to a mixture of milk, verdigras salve, tabasheer, stibium and "Alligator-earth", which was translated as the slime of the Nile. How this odd concoction adds to one's health, let alone cures cataracts, is beyond me. According to the Egyptian Book of the Dead, chapter 26 of the book was supposed to be read or inscribed onto a figure of lapis-lazuli.

The largest "find" of lapis-lazuli belongs to Senor Emilio Montes. Montes discovered a block, 24x14x9 inches in measurement and weighing 312 pounds inside an Incan tomb. The block is complete, save for chipping occuring in one of the corners. Lapis-lazuli was believed to have helped the dead reach their final destination, heaven. This was due to the celestial nature of the chiny pyrite on the dark blue background. The block resides in the Field Museum of Natural history in Chicago.
I
I have no idea about this whole Armenian Stone thing. According to Webby, (aka websters dictionary) "Armenian stone. (a) The commercial name of lapis lazuli.", however none of my sources use the phrase Amenian Stone. A google search produced several sites such as www.cst.cmich.edu/users/dietr1rv/lapis.htm and www.thaigem.com/dis_lapis.php. Neither of these sites say anything about the stone coming from Armenia, just that it's called the Armenian Stone. I .

lapis lazuli
(
A gemstone (also called lapis according to my experience and all my mineral books, despite Webster 1913 saying its shortened name is lazuli). Gem-grade lapis lazuli is royal blue, but the stone can also be found in red, purple and black. The gem-grade material generally comes from Afghanistan (though lower-quality lapis can be found in other parts of Asia, the U.S., and Chile).

Lapis is actually made up of three different minerals: lazurite (major source of the blue color), pyrite (source of the gold-colored flecks often seen in it) and calcite (which can cause white specks)

Some ancient cultures actually valued lapis lazuli as much as or more than gold, and by the Renaissance powdered lapis was used in making paints, including the shade called ultramarine. It has become less-used in jewelry and paint because of plastics and synthetics

getting real with the gay mystery at wolf creek sanctuary

<div>well well well

in my trip along the west coast i found myself needing to reach out to the wolf creek sanctuary sistas because of all of the gender and children issues on the land. I ended up serendiptiously at the great circle meeting ready to speak, unfortuanately the folks at the great circle meeting did not have time to listen because of other seemingly more pressing agenda items.

So we started our own little convocation outside smoking medicine sticks and began talking about what was going with wolf creek sanctuary and the gender issue .a fellow mentioned that orginally the impetus for men only space was to support the gay mystery and the prescence of womyn and trannies and children at times do not let men discover the gay mystery.

Now dont get me wrong i am all for the gay mystery and the pleasures and rewards it fulfills (like getting my dick sucked or loving a man with freedom), but while living at short mountain i have come to find a way to include and not exclude weaving the gay mystery into the mix.
As a black man i find oppression and mythos becomes blockages for moving all of our people forward.

I write this blog because i showed up to great circle to speak my mind and to hear and be heard but unfortunately the process got in the way of heart and people. SO i askpeople not to revolt but to have heart and courage in this time of wolf creek gaining acceptance for the mystery and magick womyn and tranny mystery has to enhance our own gay mystery.
We are creating alternative living and communty to benefit all not a few.

We can still have the freedom to discover our mystery with the inclusion of people of differing diversities. We must be the change we want to see happen and we also must undo the mistakes of our ancestors, not repeat the oppression. It is time to take the priveldegde we have in creating sanctuary for all and not claim one mystery deserves proclivity over another.

Thanks for reading and listening and having open heart
