I feel the love, and It's Wonderful!

July 16, 2007
Bare is one of those amazing people who has most certainly uniquely touched the lives of many.

She has certainly touched mine. Finding a kindred and grounded spirit from across the country, whose voice has on more than one occasion either echoed my own feelings or helped steady me through uncertainty, has been a blessing.

She in a rare and wonderful woman whose laughter can tickle you silly, voice can calm, and love can be felt from 3000 miles away.

each day we hear of the rising death toll in China, it makes my heart hurt and my soul ache.

I have never been to China, though I know many people who have been there and love the people, the customs and culture,

tonight I heard of a few miracles, people found alive, people sharing their food with one another,

and yet, many more people mourning..

though I love earth energy, I am very saddened by the loss of so much life..

I pray for them and will be in meditation for the people

I had an amazing Monday, it began early, I woke to the sounds of silence, and laid in bed for a long time just listening to the quiet... it was so peaceful, relaxing, and allowed for the space I needed to be able to "Feel" the earth energy.....

I love how the earth has a rattle and hum.... and everything vibrates... it's wonderful to be able to not only sense it but really FEEL it...

I crawled out of bed, did all the usual things, from having a light breakfast, lingering in the hot shower, dressing and doing email... working in the garden,

reading, sending out a few resumes, looking forward to going to the bookstore....

Talking to my daughter while she is on vacation in Nebraska, and hearing how much fun she is having, they were visiting the animals at the omaha zoo, our grandson was having a blast.

then talking to my son and hearing him praise the our oldest grandson for being considerate. it filled my heart with joy...

then, off to the bookstore, one of my most favorite places to be, having conversation along the drive.

while at the bookstore I noticed this man sitting in a meditative state, curious, with all the chater and music he was able to stay in his focused meditation.

I sat next to him, and quietly read the book I am currently reading.... Randy Paush's The Last Lecture.. it's emotional. and I am enjoying the way he tells his story

at some point as woman approached this man, brought him into the present, they hugged a long time.. How sweet, there was such tenderness between them..

I had no clue though that this man was about to propose to this woman, right there, in the bookstore, sitting next to me...

I wasn't listening to their conversation, so I was truly clueless that this was happening, though, I did notice he had gotten down on one knee, I didn't give it any thought, and then, in his excitement that she had said YES, he came to me and asked if I would take their photo...

He was thrilled, tears in his eyes, he said "Would you min taking a photo of my fiance and me, she just said YES"

she handed me her camera, I took their photos, several of them, and off they went. how wonderful for them, I could tell they were very much in love..

back to the book, a cup of chai tea, conversation with my lover, and time passes....

as we are leaving the bookstore, we notice a couple in the parking lot, it's now 10pm, the parking lot is nearly empty

this couple is playing with the smallest, cutest, puffball puppy, it was a shitsu mix, small fluffy and oh so cute

I Just had to stop and coo over this little puffball, the couple spoke very little english, and I learned a couple new words in spanish, we laughed as the puppy wagged it's tail and licked my face,

it's name was Ruby....

on the drive home, it occurred to me how wonderful life is.. how many moments in a day that are so special..

spending the time with the special people in our lives and enjoying the little things like being a small part of someones special moments, and sharing a laugh with others even if we dont share a common language..

I have learned that smiles and laughter can communicate even as much as language, in its own way....

just Living and Loving and FEELING the energy......

indeed, it was a very good day...

and, so far, today, it's another PERFECT DAY!!

Life is good....

what a week, I spent from Sunday night when we returned home from Maker Faire, around 10pm until today (Friday) recovering from some bug that decided to camp out inside my lungs and sinuses.....

we had so much fun at Maker Faire, but it kicked my ass,

I guess 3 days of staying up till 1am, hanging out in a crowded room all day that went from dry to humid, with warm daytime temps to cold and windy evenings was the perfect setting to grow a virus in my lungs...

I couldnt even open my eyes because the pressure in my head was insane, I felt like my sinuses were going to make my head burst, lifting my head off the pillow took all the energy I had, and we won't even go into the other body functions that took all the other energy reserves I had...

but, after a week of sleep and homemade cold remedies I am finally feeling much better... Mint and Ginger tea is your friend, along with homemade chicken soup with garlic and veggies, and whiskey, lemon and honey heated to help sleep and sweat out the bug,

for everyone that messaged me this week and I havent yet gotten back to you, know that I am now in the process of catching up,

Ahhh!! to breathe is WONDERFUL!! and to have the energy to go out and water my garden makes me happy to be well again..

Maker Faire was awesome, but the bugs floating around looking for unsuspecting hosts was not at all fun..... hope ya all are well and happy...

have a GREAT Mothers Day weekend..

an all better Bare...

I spent an amazing weekend with some of the most brilliant minds and talented people I have ever met.

I hadn't ever heard of the Maker Fair or the "Maker's" but the mad scientist I know very well has been going on about it for a few years now and we finally had the fortunate opportunity to attend..

it was held at the fairgrounds in san mateo, that place is huge, right next to the old Bay Meadows racetrack.

there must have been 45,000 people, it was a weekend event and the place was packed...

we were part of the "Dark Room" where they put all the "toys" that require a dark cool place, with little humidity..

Tesla Man-made Lightning Tesla performance in Dark Room, This 5-foot-tall Tesla Coil generates dazzling, long, electrical arcs while also revealing basic physics principles with the Jacobs Ladder, Faradays Cage, and grounding. by Vivki Johnson

and of course our own Sparx, www.jacksparx.com/

All the Electricity, and Spinning Blinking Electric and Electronic stuff that does cool stuff, Like My Favorite the Lazer Harp. WOW!! impressive... and I got to hear the Phantom of the Opera music played over and over on the Lazer harp...

Or My Most Favorite the Beautiful BIG Buddha a friend of ours built.... with 360 LED lights and I don't even recall how many computers inside f it that makes it operate.

www.1sky.com/artist/

and of course spent most my time with the buddha, and watching as Charly and John Shocked people Over and Over with the Big Van De Graph generator...

what I dont understand is why people purposly take electric shocks like that.... Hahahah!!

all weekend I heard ZAP, OUCH!, ZAP, OUCH! with a few expletives thrown in for good measure....

there was soooo much to see, but we had time to walk to the ground and visit and shop and see the exhibits..

The GIANT moustrap built like the game, that actually works likes the game is soooo cool,

Mousetrap Life Size Mousetrap Mark Perez
The LIFE SIZE MOUSETRAP is a fantastically hand crafted, 16 piece, 50,000-lb. interactive KINETIC SCULPTURE set atop a 6,500-square-foot game board. This giant Rube Goldberg style contraption comes complete with a VAUDEVILLIAN style show, original MUSICAL SCORE by The one woman band Esmerelda Strange, Sexy Mice CAN-CAN DANCERS, Clown workers, acrobatic HI JINKS, and other SPECTACULAR SCENES dedicated to the pursuit of spectacle-laden FUN!

there's the room with all the prop stuff, Planes of all designs, and everything that can take flight.. even kites.. all built by "the maker's" amazing!! Charly Loves the little Bede..

we saw inventions of every nature, Bot wars, and robotic radio control SHIPS in mock battles, they shot REAL BB's at one another as they worked to sink the others ships... then they repair the ships and do it again, Very entertaining.. and a little scary when a stray BB would make its way out of the warring area...

we saw Homemade instruments of all kinds.. from Guitars bult out of bicycle parts (Shooter, Finally, Nice to meet ya man) to Snow Shovels, that amazingly played with incredible sounds...

is it the instrument or the musician? Hmm!!

there we robots of all kinds, some that could recognize shapes and pick out the proper shapes from cards with the shapes printed on them...

amazing pieces of art, some that we have seen on the playa...

I was surprised at how many burningman people we saw.

this was a little like burningman in capsule form, and without the Dust....

spending all weekend in the dark room with ALL THAT ELECTRICITY ENERGY has Tweaked me though.. Man did I NEED the ground and some water to just realign my particles..

and I am beat, I think its just as much work as burningman is... just without all the extra elements like Dust, wind, and Techno Rave music.. <grin>

there was an area for kids to experiment, and build projects, and learn to create, and of course an area where ya can purchase many of the parts to build your own projects....

Maker Shed Workshop Herbie the MouseBot Workshop
Come to the Maker Shed and learn how to build Herbie the Mousebot. Kits will be available for sale, and the Maker Shed team will be on hand to help.

We even bought "herbie" he's so cool, he functions with the use of a flashlight.. and is the cutest robot mouse that scurries about on the floor when ya shine a flashlight on him....

there were Bands, and entertainers, and demonstrations, and time to talk to the makers about their projects, there was sooo much food, not necessarily "good" but think Carnival style... Deep Fat Fried... UGH!!

but I made it and found the least "toxic" I'm just happy to be home

we both came home with sore throats.. must be from being in that room wth ALL those people... so today were just takin it easy,

we had a great weekend. we camped right on the grounds, with a perfect spot, right at the gate entrance, we had special maker passes that allowed us access to come and go as we wished..

it was a great weekend.. if a maker fair ever visits your area.. go check it out..

and go visit this site.... it'll show ya more than I have room or memory to type about...

www.makerfaire.com/

Enjoy!!
