Hmmm.... I'm actually a bit hard to get to know well. I like honest forthright conversation, good eye contact, good humor, affection. I like real people; not so hard for them to get to know me. But if I'm not quite sure who you are, you may never be quite sure who I am. I prefer being open, but have learned that many people aren't open and aren't comfortable with openness, so I may test the waters a bit before opening up.
I'm always interested in meeting people, but for me Tribe is an adjunct to the real world, not a substitute for it. Almost all of my Tribe friends are people I've met live more than once. The few others I have had valuable interactions with online. I'm not driven by friend count or profile hits, but rather quality of contact. I have pruned my list occasionally (and I'm sure the people pruned never realized it). So if you want to add me as a friend, I welcome it if you think there's an actual likelihood of us interacting. And when you make the request, say something about why you're doing so: was there something in common in my profile? Do we know someone in common? etc. I have otherwise taken to declining random requests...
