I started bellydancing with a class over 3 years ago now. I had some tap/jazz/ballet training in my youth, along with some cheer leading (no, I don't know WHAT I was thinking with that decision), and much instrumental training. I focused more on the private flute lessons through high school and college, adding recorder with the Collegium Musicum at U of D. I even played some Indonesian instruments with the Gamelan, when it still was at U of D (and I still want to bang on the gong all day). But I missed my dance, and got hooked again when I visited Casablanca in DE and saw Maya dance. I didn't start classes for another few years. Should have started earlier, but hind sight = 20/20 and all, I'll just enjoy what I can. Not sure I would even want to dance in a traditional restaurant setting, but I'd love to get involved with Renaissance festivals and drum circles. I also sew many of my own costumes, and may get into sewing more for others. In "real life", I've got 2 degrees in Math and just finished one in statistics.
