Think you have mastered your isolations? Join Kassar for a workshop that will push your boundaries and train your mind and body to connect and move in unique ways. We'll layer basic isolations, expanding your technique repertoire and movement vocabulary. An open mind and a basic mastery of tribal isolations is recommended, but not required. This challenging workshop is open to belly dancers of all levels.
After the workshop, Join DCTribal as we celebrate the holiday season with some dancing and live music! Bring your hip scarf, drum and friends to enjoy the evening's festivities. There will be a few performances and a some surprises. Come dance with us!

Calling all musicians!
DCTribal is hosting a spring hafla on March 15th (Saturday), and you are invited! The hafla will be featuring live music from local artists, as well as a swap meet / yard sale! we have a great space with plenty of room for musicians ~and~ dancers
we will also be hosting a drum workshop by Daveed (from Turku), so bring your drums!

4. A minimum of 10 submissions (i.e., 1 submission each, from 10 individual artists) must be received, or contest will be cancelled. However, an artist may make multiple submissions.
5. Winning submission will be announced at the April 18th Cheeky Monkey show at the Palace of Wonders, 1210 H., St. NE, Washington, DC. WINNER MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN.
6. All submissions become property of Cheeky Monkey Sideshow.

It's that time again! for the Third Annual Belly Horror show!
If you missed it last year, I happen to know that you are ~still~ kicking yourself. well, don't be that tool again! Make sure you get out to see this once a year spectacular that is the Belly Horror Show, one of the things that make October the best month of the year.
This will be my directorial debut, and quite possibly a hint of things to come. Clovis and Shael have really been working their pasties to the bone on this one. Afro fusion cannibal burlesque with shrunken head pasties. complete win. Worth the price of admission alone! But you get so much more!

Mmmhmmm..... honestly, I was feeling very ugly on the coldest night of this past war, and my girl just stepped right up and slapped a smile on my ass... er.. I mean..face. Yep, slapped a smile right up on my face, and made me feel like a woman again! as silly as that sounds, it's true. Don't believe it? then fuck off, bub. My brief encounters with Ms. Mab have been adventures - you never know whats going to happen next or what she's going to say next. She is full of boundless energy and humor, and she is an amazing drummer and singer.

Monkey mOnkey moNkey monKey monkEy monkeY. So yeah, I've known this Gypsy fer a while. We've plundered, picked, plucked, pooped, pissed off and pickled more than our share of vermin. All in the name of a larger coin purse. Oh, yeah, sure so she can Drum and Dance and stuff (whoopdiedooles!). It's the late night assault Mabbacus that no one REALLY sees. The stealthy-ninja-like-poisedlikeaweazeljumpingonasnake Mab that peeps dont know. Haha! and you thought she was all gems and no copper. Just remember, the next time you're at an event and you "seem" comfortable at someones encampment-be warry of that "Extra Pint of Ale" the guest gives you. You may find yourself falling under the spell of that "Amazing Flame twirling Gypsy of untold beauty". The brilliant and dashing thechnicolors of her ensemble. The seductive movements of her Cobra-like enchantment. But by then its too late. I've already snatched yer loot, drank the Guiness and given the hyde-E-ho (or "Which ho, that ho?"...depending) and as quickly as you fell in love, your heart (and wallet) are broken all over again.

I think my cup is empty - I might have tipped it over and emptied it out upon the sand. I see it lying there, on it's side, with a few dregs puddled in the bottom.
I remember once, my cup was full. I tipped it out then too. I thought I was giving it to something else. watering it. only time will tell if that worked.
I am presently unsure how to fill my cup again. so, I'll just look at a picture of a bunny with a pancake on it's head.
what a fabulous time in Richmond yesterday. working with paolo garbanzo and the mezmer society, was complete bliss.
don't kick yourself for missing it last night, you have another chance....come out to the Palace for a ruckus good time!
