Heavyweight Dub Champion (San Francisco)

performing Live in Ashland on their Spring 08 "Deep Deep Dub" Instrumental tour

Created in the mountains of Colorado in 1997, Heavyweight Dub Champion is a musical entity here to reclaim sacred space through ritualistic performance and sonic alchemy. HDC communes with Warrior Spirits in the creation, production and performance of their vibrational healing aural mandalas. Their debut album, "Survival Guide For the End of Time" won numerous awards in the State of Colorado, including Westword Magazine's Colorado Album of the Year. Their upcoming release features multiple tracks with KRS ONE, Killah Priest, Dr. Israel, Apostle, Stero Lion, Elf Tranzporter, Wailer B, Lady K, and others. All music falls under a specific credo described in the Last Champion Manifesto, included in "Survival Guide." The mission of Heavyweight Dub Champion and Champion Nation is the Unconditional Liberation of the Human Race. All music is created from scratch by the sonic shamanistic alchemists: Resurrector, Patch, and Totter Todd. "Survival Guide" features scratching by DJ Hot Daddi 36-O and their as of yet untitled follow-up album features scratching by DJ Illnaughty.

DJ Ion (Ashland)

DJ Ion, from Ashland Oregon, mixes a variety of bass heavy electronica covering the spectrum of progressive, organic and funky breakbeats, while crossing over the boundaries of hip-hop, reggae, crunk, dubstep, glitch-hop, midtempo and downtempo styles of music. Every set is arranged in the moment, providing an improvised journey of expression based on what the artist feels from the audience, making each performance a completely unique and exciting experience.

Since his debut in the summer of 2001, DJ Ion has continuously expanded upon his résumé opening for artists and sharing stages up and down the west coast with The Mutaytor, Bassnectar, Hyper, Bassbin Twins, Ooah, edIT, Kraddy, Bill Bless, 30 Hz, BLVD, Breakbeat Buddha, Mozaic, Carbon Community, Random Rab, Bluetech, Haj, Spiro, Patricio, Oscure, Chris Sia, Soul Eye, Organik Time Machine and many, many more. He has played at venues such as, the illustrious Burning Man festival in Black Rock City, Nevada, Cirque du Soleil grand opening afterparty in San Francisco, California, Coachella music festival in Indio, California, Emerge-N-See music festival www.emrgnsee.com, and the Summer Circus music festival www.myspace.com/summercircus. In the studio, DJ Ion has collaborated with Spiro (New York, NY) to produce his first single “Ion Jam.”

EOTO - SCI Fidelity (CA/CO)

Jason Hann and Michael Travis (percussionist and drummer from the band The String Cheese Incident) compose this brand new 100% improvised live breakbeat, trip-hop, house, and drum n' bass project.

Drawing from the ethos of some of the great DJ's and computer artists of the world, they use cutting edge technology to create truly original and melodic dance music in the moment, with the undeniable power of live drums. The music is all created on the spot, recorded, then mixed and remixed live to create an ever evolving musical experience.

Since the project is 100% improvised, every night promises to be a unique dance experience. Hann and Travis play different roles in this band than in SCI. Jason plays the drum kit, percussion and sampler, while Michael is in charge of the tonal elements, playing bass, guitar, and keyboards, and hand percussion and live mixing.

BLVD feat. MC Souleye

w/Sleepyhead and DJ Ravicher opening and between sets


Friday, January 18th

BLVD is a three-piece band that fuses live instruments with electronic
samples to create a truly unique sound. Combining elements of house,
breakbeat, and rock, their high-energy sound is perfect for the dance
floor. Drummer Dylan McIntosh surrounds himself with an array of acoustic
and electronic drums, merging beats and samples to lay down an unwavering
rhythmic foundation. Electric guitarist Curtis Sloane adds tight melodic
progressions and looping patterns, as well as triggering programmed
samples. Bassist Tripp Bains glues the sound together with a deep low end
and fluid pounding attack. As a trio, they rely heavily on their
production skills in the studio. By creating samples and synth lines they
combine an organic live sound with the repetition and melody of electronic
music.

Souleye is a Colorado based conscious-wordsmith MC, believes that music is
a true healing art. His choice to perform freestyle and completely
improvisational allows the present audience to participate and be involved
in the creation and collective energy of the music. Much like life, each
performance is genuine and can never be replicated. Unafraid to challenge
paradigms, Souleye has been bridging gaps and crossing paths between Hip
Hop, Drum & Bass, Electronic, Blue Grass and FUNK.

His freestyle abilities allow him to sit in with any band or DJ, bringing
along his vibe of sincere energy and love for each performance.
Constantly globe trekking in collaboration with artists including Zilla,
Bassnectar, The Glitch Mob, Michael Franti, String Cheese, On The One,
Blvd, and the Everyone Orchestra, you'll find Souleye's schedule to be one
of the busiest on the MC scene today.

Sleepyhead is a young diverse Psy-Step Producer, Live PA, Sound designer, and Spectrum Filler and 1/2 of Live PA project COSMEA. Sleep has rocked on all sorts of high points in land.. Over the water mark that is.. U.S. East West North South.. MExico, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Has collaborated and performed with Sub-Id, Matt Butler, Souleye, Sydefx, Ooah, Bassnectar, Eoto, The Fungineers ECt. I promote boundless free thought thinking...Travel... Love...Creation...The representation of Color through sound texture.

DJ Ravicher is currently based out of Mt. Shasta, and will be providing local support with his tasty style of breakbeats.
