There are some musicians whose music makes the soul come oozing out of every pore, and restore faith in the Most High wherever it may be flagging. Unfortunately, they sometimes turn out to be jerks.. but not Maria!
At once an intergalactic prophetess and happy-go-lucky bardic companion, you are a light and beacon for those who know but cannot yet speak. May your songs be many, your heart be light, and your voice be the keys to the kingdom of heaven for all that can hear (or your eyes for all those who can see, you pretty Child of God, you)!
The world isn't dying, it is only with child. Jah Guide and Protect.

Maria is a living, breathing embodiment of the best ideals of the hippie generation. Born several decades too late to be part of the original Summer of Love, she nevertheless took up the tattered psychedelic banner of the flower children, and carries it with love and affection. Whether busking on the Haight, performing in Hawaiian clubs, or serenading Burners on the Playa, she poses the same question eloquently asked by another musician -- "What's so funny about peace, love and understandiing?" -- and shows us all that one can live with grace, beauty, and positive energy in a broken world.
I am pleased to call Maria my friend, and wish her only the best in her quest to keep alive the dreams of the original Sixties counterculture.

We Love You So Maria Mango...
Starseed set free,
that's what I see in your eyes,
peace flowing, love growing...
like flowers and butterflies...
rainbows, unseen,
in their soft green disguise...
deep oceans, sweet potions
that soothe and mesmorize...
and there you are, the avatar
of all that's hippie fine-ness,
in your birkenstocks, woolen socks,
faded jeans and hippie dress...
with a hippie-ish hat on the hippiest head
in the Haight-Ashbury...
and i've gotta say:
Oh, oh, oh, we love you so Maria Mango!
Oh, oh, oh... so please take us with you
wherever you go... Oh, we love you so...
Joyful voice, simple choice
for bliss in your songs...
with that universal harmony
you invite us to sing along...
from bus stops, to coffee shops,
in the park and on the street
you're the messenger of hippie angels
to the people you meet...
and way up in hippie heaven
ol' Chet has to smile...
Janis winks and Allen thinks
how they knew, all the while...
you'd carry that torch
like the olympic flame...
until everyone else could see
that hippie dreams and reality
are one in the same...
and they want to say:
Oh, oh, oh, we love you so Maria Mango!
Oh, oh, oh... so please take us with you
wherever you go... Oh, we love you so...
Just before sunset,
up on hippie hill...
there's music and laughter
and memories to fill...
green grass, green trees,
green bud... it's all good...
so, breathe it all in Maria,
it's your neighborhood...
and we just want to say:
Oh, oh, oh, we love you so Maria Mango!
Oh, oh, oh... so please take us with you
wherever you go... Oh, we love you so...
so please take us with you,
wherever you go...
we'll even follow you up north
through the cold, sleet and snow...
but definately take us with you
the next time you go back to Hawaii!
-----------
These were only the first impressions,
when our friendship was so new...
There is so much more already,
SO much more dear amazing angel...
Thank you Maria, thank you...
namaste and bliss dearest one!

Oh, my dearest friend, Maria!
I couldn't sum you up in any number of words, you are an eternal song. You live so truely and completely in joyful service and communion with your loving creative source, I am annointed by your presence. Everyone you meet, you greet and give to in MotherFatherGod Love, whether through song, words from the heart, food and clothes kickdowns or pure service. From the old homeless, drunk hardcores on Haight street to the white robed chanters to God, you see all as equally worthy of your time and Love. You are one of us Angels who remembers who you are and what you came for. I cannot say how sweetly your songs eternally touch my heart and remind me in the dearest ways of the truths i've always known, but still forget sometimes. You are such a clear channel.
I am so honored to know you, and i know you'd tell me how very mutual that sentiment is. Although I know that's true, and I know how your beauty mirrors my own, I still kinda put you on a pedastal sometimes. You seem so untouched by any deep wounds in your soul...I know you've been through your share of heartache, but there is a depth and purity to your loving foundation that remains untouched, and such a passion in you to give the huge Love your life has brought you, to the world. I feel somehow that between us, I hold more of the dark from my past. But you ignight my light by being so optimistic and thankful no matter how bad things appear to have been or be. You always raise me up by challenging me to take my own best advice in my darkest moments that I forget...just like my daughter! I know how hugely blessed I have been and am to have you in me and my daughter's life more often than most...even your mother is envious! And when I say goodbye to you, it IS with a tear and a smile because I know you belong to the world; you are such a beautiful hummingbird light. Your presence is a gift to others, and so many more need you more than I do. You are like an Angel in a story who comes along when there is a great need for you, and who goes when it's time for those you serve to fly out on their own.
I know this whole thing sounds hella melodramatic, but you make me feel more complete unconditional love than anyone I know! It IS very dramatic to me! It is so easy to Love you unconditionally, for that is how you Love; looking at you, I am in awe of my own beauty. You live your songs. You are absolutely for real, through and through, and that is a rare gift, indeed.
You will always be surrounded by all that is of the highest service to all beings, for that is what you radiate from your core. How blessed I am to know you and serve the world with you and all our Family of Light! Let's make the ideal real!
In Loving surrender and service,
Sabryna
