Urgent message from the management and the Cat Volunteer Support Group of San Jose Animal Care Center

<div>Dear fellow volunteers,
This is an urgent message from the management and the Cat Volunteer Support Group of San Jose Animal Care Center:

We are URGENTLY seeking foster homes for kitties that have been sick with URI (Upper Respiratory Infection). These cats are our adoptable cats and they all have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, health checked and micro-chipped. To bring these friendly kitties through all that process and then euthanize them because of URI and space issue is just unnecessary and wrong. All they need is your care and a quiet, clean bathroom for sometime to get over the cold. The shelter will supply you with food, litter, medication and consultation with our vet Dr. Tyson and our vet techs.

The center does not have a foster program for the public at this point. Only volunteers are allowed to foster shelter animals. Please remember, any space you can make for a sick cat is a space where one life can be saved. Some of our foster parents even took extra steps and found homes for their foster kitties while they were fostering. Then the adopters just simply went through the proper procedures as soon as the kitties recovered and passed health check. We strongly encourage all of our foster homes to do the same. This will help to ease any congestion that might be caused by fosters returning to the shelter.

Procedures aside, saving lives is our number one concern at this moment. We try to do what we can to save one life at a time. PLEASE, consider fostering a sick kitty if you had an extra bathroom or bedroom. Come to the shelter and fill out a Foster Application Form and submit it to Kelly our senior attendant ASAP. You can find the forms in the volunteers&rsquo; room.
We also would like to share with you this slideshow:

Thank you and we hope to see you soon.

    </a>
										<div>to volunteer my spare time to the San Jose Animal Shelter on Monterey Road.

They just opened their new, modern and beautifully designed facility in November 2004.

With my bilingualism, business experience, Speech communication degree, I KNOW I can help make a difference to the shelter.

I'd like to educate people about spaying and neutering their pets.

Over 1,000 cats were euthanized last month due to over population and not enough adopting families.

I want to help change those statistics! </div>
