100% Mediocre

These posts from my alma mater's alumnae message board have me cracking up:

B. Banner:
Hey guys,
I hope you won't flame me, but I'm hoping you can help me out. See, here's the problem. I have a secret identity. Not a sexy one like Peter Parker or Clark Kent. I mean, those guys are totally wussy. "Oh, I can't tell you my true self or ever let you love me because you might get hurt." Whatever. They don't turn into some big green beast at the first sign of anger. It makes me so mad! I just ... read more

I have some idiosyncratic philosophies regarding meat consumption. I won't eat "baby animals"--lamb, veal, etc.--but will eat beef, chicken, fish, and pork. I won't eat duck because I've somehow come to associate ducks with baby animals in my mind. And even though I'll eat beef and pork, I won't cook with them at home because they're too bloody and gross. The only meat that I buy semi-regularly is chicken. Fish occasionally makes an appearance in my freezer, but it has a tendency to stay... read more

This post originally talked about how this blog no longer represents me and how all of the posts were written a year ago, when I was in a very different place. That was so much easier than what I had been planning to do, and it avoids the problem of what to do with other people's comments.

Okay, first, the doctor: I told her that I wanted to have my thyroid checked because I knew it was dysfunctional. She made a note of the condition on her paper and then said, "...and you're taking medicine for it." I sheepishly cut in, "...Uh, no. I haven't taken medicine for it for the past three years." She scolded me: "That's really not good! So you were taking medicine for it, and then you stopped?" Apparently that messes with the endocrine system and makes it even more dysfunctio... read more

1. I found this while doing some research at work today:
Rep. Thomas C. Corrigan (D-PA) introduced a bill that would outlaw retail sales of lollipops flavored like marijuana and those lollipops that contain hemp oil, and he is investigating whether the bill would apply to internet sales as well. Legislators in Michigan, New Jersey and New York also have introduced bills to ban the candies, reported Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
