hey tribers,

some of you may have noticed a story in yesterday's nytimes (front page biz setion) about cisco buying part of tribe. while i cant provide more detail yet, i can assure everyone that cisco is not buying the tribe.net site, which will continue to run independently.

i'm excited that tribe is one step closer to a sustained future. the next one is to be cashflow breakeven which is close too.

pls email me with any questions or post comments here.

Hi Marc -- wow, that's great news!

So are you licensing the underlying software platform to Cisco or are they buying it outright and then you are cross-licensing to keep running Tribe? Or neither? Are they integrating it (somehow?) with 5 Across? I am sure I'll find out more soon when it is formally announced, but was just curious. :)

We can't be sold..
but we won't be shocked and appalled by someone who wants to help with infrastructure.
That would be wrong.

Good luck Mark. Wwe're all depending on your good sense...
Peace.

Congratulations!

I want to thank you for Tribe, I think Tribe is wonderful.

I have met many cool people, made friends, gone to great events and learned a lot through Tribe.

I think it's the best of all of these type of sites.

Congrats Marc. I read the Times article. If it keeps Tribe going, it sounds like a solid financial, strategic move.

Cheers!

I always knew it.
When Reid Hoffman (of linkedin) asked for hot companies, I couldn't help but say you. ;) Even if that wasn't the most political thing to say. ;)

Supporting Tribe
Hi!

I don't want to see tribe go and would love to support it somehow. Is there anyway to set a fund up? I bet amny would be willing to pay $5 (just as an example) to have another option or just a "gold star" of some sort next to their name saying we supported tribe financially!
