</a>
										<div>Just came back from a trip visiting my parents and am filled with wonders on how to deal with parents getting old. I know that everyone has to deal with this someday, I know i am lucky to still hvae parents alive ,but I feel it just came too soon in my life. Most of my friends have parents in their early 60’s, and mine are in the late 70’s.

Top it off,my father has Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, and each time I go home, I am seeing him getting more destroyed by these diseases. So, my question is, how do you deal with parents who talk about death, who just look like they want to give up?

I actively practice being a source of love and positive energy to my family, but it is hard. When I go home, I buy all organic food and vitamins for my parents , hoping that they will change. Yet, when I come back to visit (usually ever 5 months,), I still see the same food in the fridge (yes, that’s gross, I know) and the vitamins still not opened. I know I must surrender and just give lots of love and hugs, but I want to do so much more. I feel a bit useless, me living in LA and them living in NY. Part of me wants to move back home and take care of the family, but I know that would not work. Has anyone ever dealt with parents getting old with an illness, while you were living so far away???

And then the final icing on the cake is the wicked stepmother from the east, very much like Cinderella. When I was home, I was all ready to surrender to forgiveness to her, for all of the pain she has caused me in my life. And then, the next day, I overheard her speaking to her friends saying “That Marla and her stupid drum, when is she going to really do something REAL with her life”. Man, 20 years on this musical path and she still does not get it. I do want to forgive her, love her, but it is challenging when you hear these kinds of words. Has anyone ever dealt with step parent drama? Wanting to put it all in the past and have it be a beautiful teacher instead of a fire-blazing deamnon dragon?

Thanks for your listening, feels nice to share this with the tribe family…off to do some drumming meditations….
