Friday April 1st
First Friday ArtWalk, 5-8pm
featuring Visionary Art by Amoraea Dreamseed
with music by Richard Williams & Scott Miller

Amoraea’s mystical artwork translates the essence of Spirit into visually encoded images intended for interactive holographic engagement with one’s Higher Self. Described as ‘luminous portals’ and ‘maps of the psycho-spiritual landscape,’ Amoraea’s pioneering work is a visual engineering of consciousness that penetrates into the archetypal domain of the soul. Employing the mediums of acrylic, watercolor, and digital design, Amoraea’s visionary art represents a synthesis of various sacred concepts and metaphors derived from the primal gnostic wisdom behind all spiritual traditions, and depicts themes of co-creation, sacred relationship, connection to our Higher Self, and direct active participation with Source. Each ‘ensouled’ image is intended to attune viewers to heightened states of consciousness and emotional qualities, bringing one into his or her own transcendental awareness. Like a living shrine or sacred gateway, they are powerful images to place at one’s altar or space of meditation to reflect one’s own innate divine qualities and perfect ascendant nature. The intangible realms of spiritual awareness are here made visible to access, interact with, and create more definition for the soul.

Kirtan with Dave Stringer

Featuring special guests Jaya Lakshmi, Daniel Paul & Craig Kohland

8pm $25 at the door, $20 presale online at; cultureworks.inticketing.com/eve...2688

One of the most compelling and innovative musicians to have arisen from the yoga communities across the country, Dave Stringer has been profiled in publications as diverse as Time, Billboard, In Style, and Yoga Journal as a leader of the new American kirtan movement. Kirtan ( from the Sanskrit word meaning "to sing" ), is an age-old practice of rhythmic call-and-response mantra chanting that has become popular as a participatory live music happening in hundreds of yoga studios across the US. As Dave says, at a kirtan "You're not just listening to the music, you are the music."

Dave's sound marries the transcendent mysticism of traditional Indian instruments with the exuberant, groove-oriented sound of American gospel. A spontaneous and articulate public speaker, he probes the dilemmas of the spirit with a sly and unorthodox sense of humor. His work translates the ancient traditions of kirtan and yoga into inspiring and thoroughly modern participatory theatre, open to a multiplicity of interpretations, and accessible to all.

Jamie Janover

Doors 8pm, show 8:30pm, $10

Jamie Janover is recognized as a true innovator. His considerable creative output includes: being a master of the ancient percussion stringed instrument called the hammered dulcimer, inventing and performing on an instrument he calls the "mini-kit" (a miniature amplified drum kit), playing pyrocussion (fire drums) and creating the RealmsMobile (a recumbent tricycle with the mini-kit attached, enabling him to ride and play drums simultaneously).

By combining the innovations of modern technology with the wisdom of ancient instruments, Janover achieves a creative balance between the electronic and the acoustic to create a unified field: music reflective of the nature of modern times.

For many years, Janover has maintained a rigorous international touring schedule with several acts including: LYNX & Janover, ZILLA (w/ Michael Travis from SCI and VibeSquaD), PRAANG (w/ EOTO & Steve Kimock) and The Everyone Orchestra (w/ a revolving lineup). Jamie is also a veteran of hundreds of collaborations and guest appearances, having performed on stage with artists including: Phish, Bela Fleck, String Cheese Incident, G. Love, Umphrey’s McGee, Keller Williams, Beats Antique, Stanley Jordan and many others. In the last 2 years alone, Janover has performed at over 50 festivals in countries as diverse as Japan, New Zealand, Portugal, Indonesia, Australia, Canada & the USA. He is currently touring as a solo artist, performing live PA set style electronic shows using his unique live rig which includes hammered dulcimer, laptop computer, mini-kit, sampler, sitar, electric kalimba, midi controllers and percussion.

When not playing music, you can find Janover connecting dots around the world in his extensive travels and collaborations in multiple creative realms including creating stunning images as a professional photographer, sculpture works using natural found objects and being an official emissary for scientist Nassim Haramein of the Resonance Project, delivering fascinating presentations on the physics of unified field theory. Jamie Janover also produces music events including an annual electronic music festival in Colorado called SONIC BLOOM.

Hot Buttered Rum

9pm, $15 at the door, $12 presale online at; cultureworks.inticketing.com/eve...2690

“Stunning instrumental and vocal virtuosity."

– Relix Magazine

“Few things rejuvenate the soul like a warm fireside drink after an exhausting day in the snow. Hot Buttered Rum has that effect. Their original songs are instantly familiar and inviting, and their easygoing versions of timeless classics (the Beatles, Hank Williams) belie the intricacy of the arrangements.”
–San Francisco Chronicle

Initially formed as an acoustic string band, seven years of constant touring has transformed Hot Buttered Rum into a plugged-in, percussive powerhouse that wows critics and fans alike. Their left-coast rock reveals an access to jazz, country, and world music that few groups can match. While the band's music belies simple categorization, its songwriting and stage chemistry delights listeners at every turn.

Hot Buttered Rum’s story is one of evolution. The “high altitude bluegrass” era captured on their first studio album, In These Parts, found the band enjoying success at such diverse stages as the Newport Folk Festival, Bonnaroo, Grey Fox, High Sierra, Wakarusa, and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Along the way, the group shared the stage with some of today's most accomplished artists, including Phil Lesh, Bela Fleck, Ben Harper, and Nickel Creek’s Chris Thile. In 2006, acoustic pioneer Mike Marshall produced Hot Buttered Rum’s second studio album, Well-Oiled Machine, and captured the sound of a hard-touring band charting its course along the highways and byways of American music.

Dub Lounge International's (DLI) live show is about as rootsy as they come. Ranging from original dancehall grooves to solid old school standards, guest vocalists are often invited to accompany their sultry 3-part harmony driven set. With a live-dub mentality, DLI empower listeners, and players alike and consider them involved in the creation of their sometime improv driven melodic meditations.

Beginning as a recording project co-produced by drummer Dan Lloyd, and bassist Norman Baker, the crew expanded their dub onslaught by enlisting Jon Kimball on guitar, Darin "Diamond Dread" Pearson ..s, and Tali Ras on percussion, harmonica, and vocals. Having all played together with Winston Jarrett and his Solid Foundation Band, DLI continue sharing their blend of fair-trade organic roots while staying true to an original Jamaican sound.

Delhi 2 Dublin
Doors 8:30pm Music 9:00pm
$15.00

About Delhi 2 Dublin
Delhi 2 Dublin continues to break the mould with the May 4th release of its new genre-busting album, Planet Electric. It’s as if the band has been sent on a mission to further spread their sound beyond the planet and out into the galaxy. They describe Planet Electric “as the buzz of the world plugged into a large socket, electrifying the people and charging up their energy”. To capture the dynamism of their live shows, all of the tracks on the album were road-tested for months before recording. They also spent ten days and nights writing the material as a group, an approach that has led to this album being much more representative of the band as a whole. The icing on the cake was mixing the album with noted UK producer Diamond “DJ Swami” Duggal (Apache Indian/ Maxi Priest/ Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.)

Delhi 2 Dublin are road warriors. They have played major festivals in both Canada and the U.S. including Bumbershoot in Seattle, Earthdance in California, High Sierra in California, Stern Grove in San Francisco as well as such diverse events as SXSW in Austin, the Keelung City Ghost Festival in Taiwan and the Olympics in Vancouver. The band has an ambitious schedule planned for 2010. They will perform concerts coast to coast in Canada, everything from electronic music festivals like Evolve in Nova Scotia and Shambhala in British Columbia to festivals like Harbourfront in Toronto to the Winnipeg and Calgary Folk Festivals, before heading back to the U.S. for more dates like the Harmony Festival in Santa Rosa. Where else would you see a whirling dervish fiddle player, a guitar/sitar player in a kilt, two constantly-in-motion percussionists (one Dhol player and one Tabla player) and a singer with the ruggedly handsome good looks of a Bollywood idol?

DreamingBear Baraka Kanaan is an internationally renowned award-winning author of eight books, transformational spoken word artist, and eco-peace advocate who elegantly blends quantum understandings of the universe with inner expressions of the heart. He is the founder of The Lovevolution Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering personal and universal transformation through ‘edutainment’ (making learning fun) & universal inspiration. “I have devoted my life's artistry to cultivating a living language of love spells for the new paradigms that captivate the senses and tickle the heart into a new consciousness that is playful, romantic, compassionate, and full of laughter.” The foundation for DreamingBear’s work as a transformational spoken word artist is deeply attuned to the natural world. His work was further defined by a year spent living in the wilderness, alone and without all the conveniences a modern life provides. While in a deep communion with nature he began to take his artistry to a new level and developed many of the works that have proven to be inspiring to so many. Upon recognizing a great need for humanity to converge more deeply with the natural world, DreamingBear went on to spend many years of his life living off the grid making nature his canvas of choice as he sought to create new paradigm languages to inspire a higher level of consciousness.

Join us for dinner.

"As a solo artist, Facknitz clearly developed a driving rhythm style on the acoustic to propel his music. When his sound is backed by a band, the layers of rhythm and harmony are quite tasty." - Bill Reed, Colorado Springs Gazette

Dance on

The real message of the Dance opens up the vistas of life to all who have the urge to express beauty with no other instrument than their own bodies, with no apparatus and no dependence on anything other than space.

Ruth St. Denis

Dance, when you're broken open.
Dance, if you've torn the bandage off.
Dance in the middle of the fighting.
Dance in your blood.
Dance, when you're perfectly free.
-- Jelaluddin Rumi (13th century)

but if a living dance upon dead minds
why,it is love;but at the earliest spear
of sun perfectly should disappear
moon's utmost magic,or stones speak or one
name control more incredible splendor than
our merely universe, love's also there:
and being here imprisoned,tortured here
love everywhere exploding maims and blinds
(but surely does not forget,perish, sleep
cannot be photographed,measured;disdains
the trivial labelling of punctual brains...
-Who wields a poem huger than the grave?
from only Whom shall time no refuge keep
though all the weird worlds must be opened?

but if a living dance upon dead minds

Sarah Palin...

Friends, compatriots, fellow-lamenters,

We are writing to you because of the fury and dread we have felt since the announcement of Sarah Palin as the Vice-Presidential candidate for the Republican Party. We believe that this terrible decision has surpassed mere partisanship, and that it is a dangerous farce—on the part of a pandering and rudderless Presidential candidate—that has a real possibility of becoming fact.

Perhaps like us, as American women, you share the fear of what Ms. Palin and her professed beliefs and proven record could lead to for ourselves and for our present or future daughters. To date, she is against sex education, birth control, the pro-choice platform, environmental protection, alternative energy development, freedom of speech, gun control, the separation of church and state, and polar bears. To say nothing of her complete lack of real preparation to become the second-most-powerful person on the planet.

We want to clarify that we are not against Sarah Palin as a woman, a mother, or, for that matter, a parent of a pregnant teenager, but solely as a rash, incompetent, and all together devastating choice for Vice President. Ms. Palin's political views are in every way a slap in the face to the accomplishments that our mothers and grandmothers and great-grandmothers so fiercely fought for, and that we've so demonstrably benefited from.

*First and foremost, Ms. Palin does not represent us. She does not demonstrate or uphold our interests as American women. It is presumed that the inclusion of a woman on the Republican ticket could win over women voters. We want to disagree, publicly.

*Therefore, we invite you to reply to; womensaynopalin@gmail.com
with a short, succinct message about why you, as a woman living in this country, do not support this candidate as second-in-command for our nation.

Please include your name (last initial is fine), age, and place of residence.

We will post your responses on a blog called "Women Against Sarah Palin," which we intend to publicize as widely as possible. Please send us your reply at your earliest convenience—the greater the volume of responses we receive, the stronger our message will be.

Thank you for your time and action.

VIVA!

Sincerely,

Quinn Latimer and Lyra Kilston
New York , NY
womensaynopalin@gmail.com

**PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY! If you send this to 20 women in the next hour, you could be blessed with a country that takes your concerns seriously. Stranger things have happened.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Palin is a social conservative. She has called herself as "pro-life as any candidate can be":[53] she would permit abortion only in cases where the mother's life is in danger,[104] and has supported bills to outlaw late-term abortions and to require parental consent for abortions in Alaska.[105] Palin is supportive of contraception [53] but she backs abstinence-only education and is against "explicit sex-ed programs" in schools.[106][107] She opposes same-sex marriage[53] and supported a non-binding referendum for an Alaskan constitutional amendment to deny state health benefits to same-sex couples.[108] She supports capital punishment.[109] Palin supports allowing the teaching of both creationism and evolution in public schools, but not to the extent of requiring the teaching of creation-based alternatives.[110]
Palin strongly supports an individual's right to bear arms, including handguns. She also supports gun safety education for youth.[111]
Palin has promoted oil and natural gas resource development in Alaska, including in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).[59] She has opposed federal listing of the polar bear as an endangered species warning that it would adversely affect energy development in Alaska. [114] Palin does not believe that global warming is human-caused.[115] She supports the hunting of wolves by low flying air planes.[116] This topic was one of the first to be brought up by environmental groups, who mentioned it while many media outlets were focusing on her daughter's pregnancy.[117]
Palin supports the Bush Administration's policies in Iraq.[118][119]
Goddess Alchemy Project in Ashland this Sunday!
Goddess Alchemy Project w/APOSTLE & DJ QUEST
Sunday 10-05-2008 8pm at Stillwater
in Ashland, Oregon
Bringing forth a timeless science through a live, lyrical experience of “more than one sista on the mic at a time”… this crew gives voice to the potent medicine of Goddess Alchemy rising. Empowering the revolution from within, these creatresses synergize their individual skills to weave together an evolutionary, artistic collective grounded in the ancient ways of women’s wisdom. In collaboration with many artists and producers, Goddess Alchemy’s sound alchemizes a fresh, feminine flavor by integrating elements of underground hip hop, world accents, spoken word flows, and soulful melodics. Combine this with ancient texts, quantum physics, ancestral roots, multi-dimensional symbology, and an all-female cipher… the result to this equation is a new, musical science they call “Open Source Soul Floetics”. Utilizing multi-media as they’re tool of mass creation, The Goddess Alchemy Project fuses music, visual art, spoken word poetry, dance, their al.KEM.y Designs clothing company, and community outreach to bring sacred intention to the forefront of artistic momentum.
