Happy New Year!
As i began planning my year in dance, i wanted to post a brief update on classes. 2009 will be another year of learning for me, though it will be coupled with exploring choreography and new performances. Years of extensive training have provided essential cultural context, historical knowledge and technical growth...and now comes the time to put it to work and say something new, something mine. I am indebted to my teachers and close friends who have accompanied me in this p...

Yes, I will be teaching this coming semester!
Although I've got a few trips planned for study (San Francisco and Spain), I couldn't pass up the opportunity to be in the studio. Contact me if you have any questions about my teaching approach and what is covered in the semester. My classes are *demanding* but we strive to create a safe, informative and challenging environment. (Please note that the pool of substitute teachers I lean on include Jenn, Bella, Asharah and Mavi--amazing ladies an...

Dancers and Friends,
My schedule is finally up for Spring 08 classes i will offer. My apologies for the delay in posting the info up, life has been a little hectic lately.
I finally received my ATS Teacher Certification from FatChanceBellyDance, and attended my second GS--this time at the mothership which makes it a much more intense and fulfilling experience. AMAZING! With Suhaila's blessing at the Charlottesville, VA workshop this past weekend, i will also be attending the Level II ...

Today is the final day of the Fat Chance Teacher Training.
Im exhausted...I keep dreaming of the studio, drums and flowing skirts, and a huge part of me just doesn't want to leave the bay area anymore. My two most prominent belly dance teachers are here (Carolena being one of them, of course) and the rapport that we have built among the GS/TT group will stay with me forever.
In the last ten days I've been trying hard to figure out how my classes and teaching style will change and evol...

OK, so it hurts. A lot. Suhaila warned me, and i still remember how i almost jumped into her lap crying the first time she squeezed my thighs to check my IT bands.
Rolling the first time made me tear up, sweat, curse, and finally recall how calm and centered i had to be during natural childbirth.
I kid you not, i had to go there....
Now i still wince and sob a little. BUT, my body feels different--more aligned. My left knee is not giving me that scary weak feeling i was starting to l...
