Yeah, fucked up situation.

There was a huge beetle flying around the bedroom last night...-creepy lookin' thing. It flew with a wild, reckless abandon that only insects trying to locate a light source have. Eventually, the cursed tiny monster made its way safely inside the overhead fixture - more of a translucent plate hanging from the ceiling than a chandelier... but the open quality of it ensured that the tiny demon could take flight into the airspace around my girlfriend and I, without notice, and possibly attack. This was an unacceptable situation. I stood watch with a weapon - a small book about how to make candles... However, the beast remained impregnated in its dish-lair, discernible only by the ghastly silhouettes of its spiny appendages on the surface of the fixture. I devised a plan. A sticky wand! A long stick with duct tape wadded on the end! AHA! I would grab it effortlessly, and become the hero of the horrendous situation. So, I fashioned my weapon with haste - and stood wobbly on my toes atop the mattress of the cluttered bed, trying to fish around into the fixture to snag this ruiner of mellow nights. However, this brilliant plan was not without its setbacks. The sticky wand proved more difficult to wield than I had presumed, and suddenly it was obvious that the angle I was stabbing with was beginning to stress the structural integrity of the floating plate. In a matter of seconds, the plate shattered into a few rather large pie shaped shards which flew in several directions. the largest shard fell straight down with the force of the glass explosion propelling it to terminal velocity into my laptop computer, sitting directly below the battlefield. The large shard broke into a couple smaller fragments, but not before managing to inflict a gaping plastic laceration on the right of the keyboard. "Surely no significant damage was done", I thought to myself... However, soon I would find out quite the opposite was true. There was no time to think of such casualties, because more dire situations were at hand - the flying menace was loose, although dazed and moping on the comforter of the bed. I used my sticky wand to snag it, and toss it out the door. And this, my friends is where the saddest part of the night began - when I placed my laptop onto a nearby chair, I was confronted with a screen on my monitor almost as frightening as the beetle had been, earlier that night... it was the blue screen of death! The glaring white characters were going on about 'physical memory dumps', and other technical jargon of equal intimidation. I sat quietly, and softly...and restarted the computer. Bios was starting... good sign. Wait. ....more waiting..... hmm. No windows loading screen. Restart again. the same result. Yep - the operating system was not booting up. After a diagnostic was run soon after - I realized what I was dealing with was a damaged hard drive. IDE device was toast. Because of a fucking beetle. I cleaned up the rest of the broken glass, and had to kind of chuckle about the absurdity of what had just transpired. Though, this morning, I'm just kind of pissed.
