about me
Ever since I was two years old, I knew I wanted to be a dancer. My parents were a lively couple and never missed an opportunity to party. So, for the last 28 years (and counting!) I've seemed to pick up where they've left off. With that much time under my sparkly belt, it's no surprise that I've had the good fortune to meet some truly inspirational people who continue to give me the motivation to continue doing what I love.
After much arm twisting (just kidding!), it's nice to stay connected with my friends and mentors both local and international. I'm no stranger to some of you and I thank you all for your kindness. To those who don't already know me, there is always room for one more friend. I've welcomed every opportunity for friendship since the world is so small, you never know who you're going to end up working with sooner or later.
I've been studying exclusively with Kaeshi Chai for the last two years and thankfully she has had the patience to be my mentor. Although I didn't have much stage experience at the time, I had chosen to study with Bellyqueen because i knew they were the only dance company that would embrace and incorporate my embarassingly large vocabulary ranging from Afro-Caribbean to Ballet to Polynesian.
In only two short years, I've met so many other wonderful and talented dancers as well as musicians. I've somehow had the amazing luck to learn from other notable performers: Rania Bossonis, Marina Darowish, Louchia Tchoukri, Ansuya, Bozenka, Amar Gamal, Anasma, Fayzah, Amina, Blanca, Rachel Brice, Dina, Neena & Veena Bidasha, Kami Liddle, Mavi, Carol Vance, Heather Shoopman, Jillina, Tiny Love, Hypno, Morganics, Suraya Hilal, and so many others.

Greetings and salutations,
Now that last year has faded away into our memories and left us all with a ton of pictures to weed through, I think it would be nice to have everyone pool together their pictures from New Year's Eve. Those of us who either were too busy having a good time or forgot to bring cameras along to the festivities shouldn't be left out of the loop.
That said, I have several of my own pictures to share with all of you and as always comments are welcome. For those who...

As I looked up at the Full Moon and fell under Her magickal spell, I welcomed the familiar calm that envelops me when I enter the trance. As my eyes focused dreamily on the silvery orb, my eyelids began to grow heavy and blurred my vision so that the light was all that I saw, not the darkness surrounding it.
It was then that I found the gate to The Summerland, the place where all good people and animals go when they've completed their earthly missions. It's not any of the myriad forms of...

Waking in a panic from the murky depths of sleep, I find myself gasping for air and shivering as the cold sweat makes the thin turquoise silk sheath cling stubbornly against my skin. The room is dark, save for the light of the last dying ember amidst the pile of incense ashes in one corner. I look to my left and see that Salahadin is still very much sound asleep.
I run quietly through the palace to the central courtyard leading away from the harem, careful not to disturb the peaceful slu...
