Official Homeowner!

Yay! Jamie and I are officially home owners as of today! I can't wait to move in and make it all ours. I can't wait to have a space to live that's all my own. No more shoebox apartments and driving around for 20+ minutes to find a parking space when we have to pee like a race horse! Yay for being able to paint and have a garden and feeling a sense of permanency!

Yay for love! Yay for us!

Need healing thoughts and energy

My brother-in-law was shot on Saturday evening by their crazy neighbor. He is one lucky s.o.b. as the bullet when through his mouth and out his neck just barely missing everything. He's having surgery to repair one of the main arteries in his neck today.

Just need some healing thoughts and energy for him.

UPDATE:
He didn't get to have the surgery today because his blood wasn't thin enough. It'll be postponed till tomorrow. *crossing fingers*
The longer his artery goes damaged, the higher the chances of stroke.

But I'm not worried. He'll be just fine. That's just what I told his son and damn it I'm holding to my word.

melting!

My co-worker asked, "If any of you are thinking about going outside on your lunch break and melting, don't worry, I've already done it for you." She looked as though she'd been working out... all sweaty and overheated.

"Nice!" I shouted out. "I was planning on going out to the park and laying about like a lizard... yay for the heat!"

She looked at me funny.

Okay so I love the heat, I feel like I'm floating from happy when the sun is out and its finally warm enough to go outside without a jacket or sweater. Yay for summer! Yay for Washington finally getting some seriously needed sun and heat!

*ehem*

happy.

*ADDENDUM*
I went to the park for lunch... which is absolutely wonderful because they are putting on concerts in the park every day till late August from noon to 1:30. It was so great to sit on the steps, read my book, listen to live music, basking in the sun... and watching the old hippy dance around with his scarves.

Simply beautiful, my life.

Happy Monday!!

I just got a promotion "officially!" Effective immediately, I am no longer a freakin file clerk... Now I'm a legal secretary in training. Yay!!
This is fabulous news in itself, but the fact that my salary just went up 10K is HUGE!! I'm beaming today, absolutely happy as can be! Yay me!

In other news, I had an amazing time at Critical Mass:V and am totally ramped up for Burning Man. Which I was actually kind of stressed out about because I won't have enough vacation days paid while I'm gone for the week and half, but that doesn't matter now does it? heehee!!!

The "C" word...

I got a call this morning from my sister, Debbie, who lives in Greece. Usually, I'm pretty ecstatic to hear from her since I rarely get to speak with her. However, this particular call from her wasn't a call I ever wanted to get.

About a month ago, she had surgery to remove her thyroid gland because it was swelling and causing her problems. The only way to fix her was to have the gland taken out. She'd be on hormones for the rest of her life to keep her in balance. The alternative would be the thyroid continuing to grow and cause her severe problems down the road.
Everything went well, the surgery went great, no problems. Friday she got a call from the doctor to tell her that her test results came back. There was some bad news. There was cancer in her thyroid gland and although she was lucky to have it taken out when she did, they didn't get all the cancer out. The doctors say that she is going to be fine, that the cancer is very mild and she won't have to go through chemo. She will have to take pills and radiation for a while and be confined to isolation for two days with no contact with another person while she goes through the most potent part of treatment.

It wasn't a call I wanted to get. She wanted my advice on how to handle telling our parents though. Our mom would freak out at the mere mention of the "C" word. So we decided to only tell Dad what is going on, and just tell Mom that she is in Athens for checkups and blood work. I don't think my mom would handle hearing this kind of news very well. Her daughter, so far away from us, going through cancer treatment, the stress alone would be too much for her.

Help me send good healing vibes to my sister. She needs it.

Seattle... Here I come (I hope)

I did some major apartment hunting this weekend. In four hours, I saw a small handful of apartments. Most of which I didn't really want because they were a bit too far removed from downtown. However, the second one I looked at, although it is a total dump on the outside, is the perfect location. Capitol Hill baby! I gave them my app., my $300 deposit, and credit fee. I'm thinking I'll get it and will be ecstatic to the point of bursting. Seriously, it will be within walking distance to downtown, walking distance to my gym!! I can't wait. *happiness*

I'm still waiting on the law firm job. I need patience but I don't like having to wait a couple of months before I get hired. I feel like the opportunity is just going to fade away. I'll have to wait till the 16th to really know what is going on and if I truely start on Feb. 1.
If life is playing me just like it does... it could be handing me something even better and may be the reason for the law firm job being put off for such a long time. I was just forwarded an awesome opportunity at another company that would be perfect and ideal for me. An entry level position working for the legal department of a company that is heavily affiliated with Microsoft, as a legal administrative assistant. It's an IT consulting company or something like that which is nice since I have IT background with my current job. It seems *perfect* but I won't assume it is right for me until I get it. :) *pure optimism here*

If goodluck and determination take me for a ride here, I'm signed up and ready for the adventure.

HELP! Apartments in Seattle??

I need to find a place to live, pronto! As of the 11th of January, I need to have some other place to call home. I'm looking for a studio or 1 bdrm for $650 or under and allows a cat.

If you know of anything, North, South, West Seattle... or wherever, please, please let me know.

Just to let you know, I've been searching nwclassifieds.com and craigslist, along with countless other websites, so I'm hoping word of mouth might return better results.

Thanks!!

Finally... It's Final!!

It all started out with me browsing through the college catalog looking at courses. I had begun to feel worthless and underacheived. I disliked my job and especially the knowledge that I would never get any farther with the company than I already had. I realized that in order to ever do any better than what I was doing, I'd simply have to sit down with myself and figure out what I'm going to do with my life. Well why not become a legal secretary?

What? Where did that thought come from? I have no idea, but the courses to get a certificate and degree were looking pretty interesting to me and I thought, "Fuck it! Its time to do something!" I set my mind and heart on a goal to become a legal secretary and work at an established law firm in Seattle.

So off to college I went. I was nervous and scared that I'd be too "stupid" to be successful. After completing my first two classes of the degree and nearly getting 100% in my English class, I discovered I really could do it.

Now, after a year and a half, I'm graduating. I've gotten myself a job at a HUGE lawfirm in Seattle. Although, I won't be starting out as a legal secretary, I am still going to be employed there as a file clerk. My next goal?? Get my ass in the desired position within the next 6 months to a year. And damn it!! I'm going to do it! :)

Wish me luck!
