Della's weekend workshop Mon, September 24, 2007 - 11:08 AM
Della had her workshop this weekend - for you local ladies who missed it - you missed a good thing! It had been a long week and I was sooooo tired, and I must confess I spent more time sitting and watching than I did dancing, but I still felt that I learned some things.

Siham Ali and Masani Azura were the teachers. I spent the first half of class watching Masani's hands in fascination. She is such a graceful drummer - her hands just seemd to dance. I loved the way she could flow from one rhythm to another - from baladi to masmudi to rhumba and back again with such grace. Siham's teaching was wonderful - she has such a warm personality and it really came out during her teaching .

The next half was Masani teaching and Siham drumming - and again, it was fun to just watch. Siham is a beautiful drummer as well and Masani is such a vibrant person, I think one would be hard-pressed to come away not feeling inspired.

Thank you Della for a wonderful workshop!!!!

My Testimonials

September 25, 2007
Masani is one of my favorite instructors. I've attended several of her workshops and she alwasy teaches something new. She is an amazing woman and an equally as amazing dancer. She's also a wonderful friend! =)

Thank you, Masani!

We received the DVD from Cirque du Beledi: MECCA the other day and Christiana and I both tear up when we see Masani dance!!! That was such a lovely, heart-felt performance!

We also apreciate how much she talked about presentation and performance during her Kashlima workshop. It was greatfully received!

If you have the opportunity to learn from this wonderful woman, embrace it with both arms!!!

Masani is eye candy to watch! Her performances always capture my imagination and her stage presence is incredible!!! She is my fire goddess and delightful and fun person to chat with. An inspiration for a newbie like me.

Masani put the D in Diva too. I mean that in the best way.

She'll remind you to be the best that you can be, gently if you need it...or with a kick to your butt if that's what it takes. She's kicked my butt a lot over the years.
Masani has also been one of the women to remind me not to worry about the stuff that doesn't matter, and to focus on what does matter to me, and that's been a treasure.

Be sure to take one of her classes...she has a lot to offer.

Masani can dance. Imagine all sorts of emphasis on the final word in that sentence. Her dancing is filled with vibrant personality. She is so supportive of dancers on all levels. She sees potential everywhere, and her creativity allows her to turn the humblest of materials into extraordinary costumes. She allows herself to dream, and her dreams must be full of flying and all sorts of wonderful adventures. I tell my students to watch her perform, because she is one of the best dancers I know. And now we're back to my opening declaration: Masani can dance.

My Blog

I gotta crow! I usually don't watch "American Idol", but once I heard David Cook sing on a local radio station, I've been following his progress on You Tube since then. I watched the show for the first time last night (the finale) and was pleased. David Cook, well done!
