Greetings and Blessings to all our friends and family, who have been patiently waiting as we get to know this young man and find his name.

He was born on October 17th, 2006 at 8:24 pm, Pacific Daylight Time. It was a clear, warm night, with a sky full of sparkling stars and no moon in the sky. This time of year is about halfway between the Harvest Moon, under which it is light enough to harvest, and the Hunter's Moon, under which it is bright enough to hunt at night. Also occurring this week, and peaking last night, the 21st, is the Orionid Meteor Shower, visible on clear nights to the Southeast, radiating from the constellation Orion. We have chosen the name - Orion Autumn Songhand - for this most precious gift we have ever received. On Saturday morning, October 21st, the young one gently woke his parents at 4am & while he nursed with his mother with a perfect view through the bedroom window, his Grandmother Mary and Father bundled up for the blessing of watching falling stars from the Orionid meteor shower. There were short ones and long ones, fast and slow; each a sweet reward for patience and presence. That morning we knew we had found his name. Orion also has very special hands which his mother and grandma noticed very soon after his birth. They have an artistically magical, musical quality; a grace and power in their length and strength, and we combined the timely word Autumn with his unique name, "Songhand." Mom, Dad, and Grandma participated in giving him a naming ceremony of our own creation on Saturday evening, surrounding him with symbols of our love and many special gifts that represent his familial connections, along with many gifts from the five elements, all to honor him as the greatest gift of all. Josh and I feel so wonderful and grateful for the outpouring of love and blessings for the three of us in these very special last few days. He has opened our hearts so wide as to give us a new birth and a powerful, constant reminder of true bliss in every moment. In addition to the effort we took in finding a unique name for this person that fits him well, we also feel that his self-identity is his to find and create. We would embrace any decision he make in the future to include an existing family name. Here is some more information on Orion's astrology, and some links to some information about the constellation and mythology of Orion. We encourage you to read these links, or look into any other literature about Orion. There's so much to this name that it would be difficult to include all that is meaningful to us in this letter. Sun sign: Libra Moon Sign: Virgo Rising Sign: Gemini Year of the Dog Mayan Birth Glyph: Yellow Rhythmic Human en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orio...thology%29 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orio...llation%29 With our deepest love and gratitude, Joshua Corey Laufer and Raining Faith
All in all, it has now become clear that there is some turbulence in the system.

Stormy weather indeed. We have learned the ways of alchemy from old masters. Recipes for uprising, writ into our very DNA by the plants we have eaten. All of this time, we have managed to feed, cloth, shelter ourselves, Kneading, Weaving, Dreaming an entire existence out of sound and light. And yet, in these shifty shaky times, we sometimes wonder if we will have The Dough to keep kneading, The Thread to keep weaving, The Dream to keep dreaming. We have chewed on this nut-meat for a long time, my friends. And it is possible that the meal we have prepared no longer can feed us. and it is possible that the thread we have prepared no longer can cloth us. and it is possible that the dream we have dreamt no longer can dream us. The dear wise woman of cooking, Julia Child, said that there are three rules to follow: 1. Know how to handle hot things. 2. Keep all of your knives sharp. 3. Have fun. If we were the grain to be eaten, If our body was the bread to be broken, What recipe would you have spoken? We who are searching for a new way, Seeking the Eternal One. If the life you have been cooking no longer can be stomached, May I humbly suggest; A New Recipe.
