After several years of knowing in my heart... got the tests.. and how the biology backs the inner knowledge.. I'm intersexed.

Not quite male. Not quite female. Not especially butch. Not especially femme.

And yes.. it makes SO much sense to me. So many things from my past that puzzled me, now make a great deal of sense.


Even here in San Francisco, at or near the heart of the Sexual Revolution & with many many Sex Education resources.. the vast majority of folks have barely ever heard of "intersex", much less have a conversation with someone who is openly intersexed.

Intersexed folk are a very invisible & marginalized group.. even tho they make up approximately 1% of the population (see ISNA website).I suspect a good part of it is the discomfort of folks about the topic/concept. The biological existence of Intersexed folk is an antithesis of the Gender Binary.

Intesexed folk show gender to be much more of a continum (vs. 2 and only 2 distinct options) & rife with a fluid (vs permanent static & forever unchangable) nature.

And I think that scares or at least creates discomfort for a lot of people.

I'm here to answer what questions I can & ask my own questions too.
