Comedy at Brainwash on Thursday

I'm going to be doing the open mic at the Brainwash this Thursday at 9th and Folsom. Come hang out, laugh with some good comedians, laugh AT some bad comedians, and generally have a good time.

I'm at it again!
I know this is short notice, but I'm doing Roosters tomorrow night (Wed.) Doors open at 7:15, show starts at 8.
I'm putting together an audition DVD to send to club owners and I need a strong 7-12 minute set to video tape.
The only way to get that much stage time is to bring a group of people to see you.
So, I'm asking my friends to come to another show.
If you can't make it, yes you are still my friends!
If you can make it, yes, I'll buy your drinks.

Blue Lagoon Show Report

Last night was my first performance at the Blue Lagoon Bar's Comedy Night in Santa Cruz.

I must say, I'm impressed with how Lindsay Blaz has pulled together a little comedy club in the back room. It's a room separate from the main bar, lights are low, little candles on the tables, fairly comfortable chairs for the guests, good stage, etc.

I had a good show, I think. Did about 15 minutes of solid comedy, got good laughs, without having to scrounge for material. I would have done more, but I wasn't getting paid and we had an appointment for a hot tub at the Spa a block over, so I wrapped it up.

It was nice that there wasn't a shopping list of comics. Only about 6, I think. And Lindsay isn't really running timed sets. Basically, you could just go as long as you want, and when you were done, you're done. It's a nice change. Takes a lot of the pressure off. I think she only does a light when someone is really bombing.

Anyway, next show is August 6th at Roosters, unless I do the Blue Lagoon again next week. I just love hot tubs. :)

The San Jose Improve Open Mic.....

SUCKED!!!!

I'm only working at Roosters from now on.

I did pretty good. I did my five minutes, did my usual clean show. I stood out because I was the ONLY clean comic. Everybody else was just seeing how disgusting they could be.

The guy who was running the show, THE DIRECTOR OF THE SHOW, said "fuck" more than 40 times in a 7 minute set. Actually, it was way more than that but I lost count at 40.

Then the next kid started saying stuff about priests raping kids and I'd had enough, and I walked out into the lobby.

Apparently, I started a general walkout. I'll probably never work there again, which is fine by me. It's significantly better than being ejected from a leper colony (to quote Robert Preston)

Anyways, it would have been a sucky night EXCEPT while we were chatting in the parking lot two girls and a guy came up to me, told me how funny I was, asked when I was appearing next, AND ASKED TO TAKE A PICTURE WITH ME.

HELL YEAH!!!! I'M ON THE RIGHT TRACK!!!!
