Mikio is one of the good guys.

What is it that binds us? There is a certain darkness that is not sinister but smells of places deep within the earth, that entwines itself subtley into our waking lives with glints of fierce yet fully empowered desire like snakes' eyes contemplating the moon. What ancient lineage did we share, love, impossibly familiar, I am still high with the weird and magnificent joy of meeting lost family.

Lover of the most wild, vision prince in the court of edgewalkers, keeper of boldest dreams, radical believer, sacred conjurer, you are perpetually blessing the world just by being here. You are weaving a magical web with life, connecting people and changing lives, with your patient, unfaltering optimism, your willingness to share the wisdom accumulated by a life lived with curiousity and integrity. You are my inspiration and one of my favorite people on the planet. Thank you & Mad Love...

Mikio is one of those cats you'd be insanely jealous of, for his intellect, his talent, his vision, & his overwhelming charm,... except he's also one of the most approachable, loving cats I've ever met.

If there were more Mikio's on the planet, the place would be ore like those places you only find in books.

My only regret is that our divergent paths have let us away from each other,... I would have much to learn at your feet,...

Mikio is my uncle.
I remember wearing a blue cape and jumping on his bed to wake him up in the morning.
I will always love him.

finally hearing mikio spin only elevated my already mile-high opinion of him. he is a man of humble grace, quiet competence, and mad love. this one drips freek sauce and shines so bright you'd think he belongs in the heavens. and yet he moves and shakes it among us. mmmmmm.

The first time I met Mikio I was stunned by his beauty. I don't think I could actually talk much, my eyes just kind of followed him and I kept sneeking peeks at him.

Every year I looked for him again at Starwood, but didn't actually see him again. How wonderful to find him again after all these years on Tribe. And how even more wonderful to get to know him better, and find that he's just as stunning a spirit inside as out.

Awaiting my next chance the Universe will bring us along the same paths again...you can never have too much beauty...

we met many years ago, or was it life times ago? we weave ourselves in and out common grounds, friends and experiences. always this man has held a special place in the " Heart Zone of Co-Creators". i can only begin to imagine the many lives Mikio has touched, through work, play, art, expansion, compassionate listening and exceptional support. i believe that you make the world a better place, just by being there! the salamander, will always remind me of this....

recently i was talking with a mutual friend of ours who said "...if i were in middle of bombs dropping and knew that they only way to save my child's life was to give my child to Mikio, i would do it with out a doubt.!"

well that conversation led me to putting my words into action and writing testimonial.

you inspire me, and many, many people!
i look forward to watching how our worlds will meet and we what we will co-create!

always, and in all ways,
imani

I first met Mikio in 87 when I went to work for his graphic arts company in New Paltz, NY. Throughout the years, I've been amazed by his creativity and authenticity.
There's a clear transmission from his soul and personality to the mediums he chooses to work through that lucidly represents what a great person he is. He's a true friend with a great sense of humor and a supportive voice of honesty.

how to describe zee great artiste mikio in such limited space?

i first encountered mikio via his artwork. i was a young deadhead out wandering the tie-dyed highway and soon realized that the artwork of mikio, phil brown and ed donahue was among the best psychedelic art to emerge in the rock and roll world since, well, rick griffin, stanley mouse, alton kelley, victor moscoso... ie the original san francisco poster art crew...

i contacted mikio regarding a psychedelic art project i was working on, "tarotpin: the tarot of the deadheads" -- a grateful dead / psychedelic art tarot deck. the deck has gone through a handful of transformations, at least half a dozen road blocks and seen me through a lot of personal change, but in that time, mikio has become one of my closest friends.

he is a great conversationalist (he can out talk me two words to one, no small feat to those who know me), has impeccable rendering skills as an artist, and has a french accent easily as tacky as any this side of monty python's holy grail, all of which are talents that come in handy when working alongside me in our travelling art gallery turned temple of debauchery, the merlin's wheel gallery.

and, truth be told, when i was down in the dumps over a relationship that had been on the rocks, he was also right there as a friend and brother, which spoke volumes more to me about his character than even his art or our grand schemes to take over the world via psychedelic art infused craziness.

plus his partner of twenty years belly dances with a boa constrictor. that's gotta say volumes about the guy, too.

God help me I swore I wouldn't Blog

"Our dearest Kelley passed early this morning, peacefully at home. He returned home last Wednesday, so very happy to be out of the hospital and back home. Marguerite was by his side, as she has been from the beginning. The family asks for solitude and will announce a memorial to celebrate Kelley at a later date. In lieu of flowers, an account will be set up at the Western St. branch of Washington Mutual to raise funds for a bench in a Sonoma County park. Peace and much love to Kelley's immedi... read more

Got this in email this morning:

"Dear Mikio,

To make a long story short, i was at earth day in golden gate park today, saw one of your T-shirts, and heard you were no longer with us, but I'm hoping you are, having heard nothing of the sort, I think it's a wild rumor, and, please correct me!

missing you, hope you're well,

steve enzer (from Stephen and Robin's way back when)"

Now strangely enough if this is actually a rumour with legs on it it will have been the third such ghos... read more

This may sound strange

In the past few months I've been noting the synchronicities instigated by tribes "random friends photos on your home page" feature and the random 10 friends icons that pop up in your "friends" module.

I've always assumed that most of the near oracular behavior had to do with algorithms that weighed & balanced how recent photo's were posted and who was logged in at what time, etc. I have been pleasently amused and quite gratified at the deepening of frioendships b... read more

I just had the oddest and (in retrospect humorous) experience in self observation.

My cell is caput, lost somewhere is last weekend's Soul Fire. As it happens next month where we're switching to broadband phone and for package timing reasons we'd decided to go a month on the cells and not have a long distance service. I toasted another clutch treating my Subaru like a truck hauling gear so my cars in the shop. ........well just an hour ago my cable modem stopped working.

Here I am wi... read more

I dragged myself over to the computer and I'm sitting here in a reasonable state of delerium with a fever and a big ugly redish purple blotch on my thigh from a necrotic spider bite of some sort.

My niece and I were clearing a sizeable pile of debris I had accumulated and neglected in my yard when an irrate evicted brown tenant scuttled off the scraps I was holding. I didn't notice a bite at first but almost a day later a red burning itchy welt began to grow on my thigh. I'm about 5 days... read more
