Treasured toy of a long ago past

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/milkmanamok/blog/8e057bb9-0779-45c9-ac67-eb708309c246"> <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/e12/d62/e12d623c-3835-4211-a87a-0aa99332bfb1.thumb" width="65" height="51" alt="" />
    </a>
<div>Back when the best toys involved more than their fair share of danger. . .

I searched for this bad boy on the Web a couple years back and found. . . nothing. Was I merely hallucinating my favorite toy? Was it all just that really bad dream where you get the best toy ever, your mind totally comprehends its mysterious yet complete &amp; inner functioning. . . and then you wake up and it never existed? So nice to finally find it it here:

http://www.feelingretro.com/toys/Ride-On-Toys/krazy-kar.php

I assume they stopped making these because little fuckos might ride them down the stairs. I know I did.

Pretty sure mine was called a Crazy Wheel. . . it had a spiral design on the wheel. . . and it could haul ass. You cranked the wheels in opposing directions to spin in place, until you puked. Try that with a Big Wheel! Infinitely superior and very rad!

I finally grew out of my beloved Crazy Wheel (or I think my parents made it disappear) and I had to move on. . . to FIRE!

Methinks I must make a bigger one that accomodates my more adult monkey frame.</div>

<div>The problem: neglected books in the basement collecting dust. The other challenge: chasing down elusive books that have gone out of print. I am amazed by Bookmooch - www.bookmooch.com - one of those rare killer applications that has materialized out of the noise of that thar intraweb.

It works like this. . . you list books you want to get rid of and agree to send them promptly when people ask for them. You get points in bookmooch credit for both of these tasks. Search for the books you want, if anyone has them in their inventory you can mooch them, and then they send them to you. . . for free.

In only a couple of weeks, I've scored several excellent finds (including Cormac McCarthy's The Road - the week it was published). My stacks of forsaken pulp are disappearing at a rapid pace. . . and reappearing in the hands of people who want to read them. All for the modest price of a little postage. Awesome.</div>

Happy Ramadam-dam-dam

<div>Big meal plans are in the works for the first iftar "break fast" of Ramadhan. We miss the sunset rush, but the 7 train whips us to the far reaches of Jackson Heights, Queens, where the Kebababish Palace discreetly seats us in the corner, following some rapidfire negotiations in Urdu, so we may irreverently enjoy some brown-bagged cervezitas.

Amidst a feast of tandoor fish, BBQ yardbird, goat dhal, and most flavorful sesame &amp; garlic naans, the plans for Project Skyjuice are hatched. The crackle of lightning and peals of thunder shall rumble across the desert floor as we unleash our funk jihad from the Kashmiri Sound Machine. Goats will be roasted, virgins will be sacrificed, and the Sufic geometries of the Dream Machine shall subject believers and skeptics alike to hypnotic trance states.

It is said that Ramadhan is the month in which Satan and his minions are locked away in Hell to prevent them from misleading, deceiving and whispering in the ears of believers. That may be, but we'll nevertheless be hard at work conjuring the reality of such visions as only Nostradamus could have prophesized.

<div>Some of this year's hilarity from the Dreamtime festival - www.dreamthefuture.org
------------------------------------------------------------

How fucking far in the middle of fucking nowhere do you have to go to play your shit and not have to put up with this fucking bullshit!?!?!
     -- DJ Juanito

I don't. . . think. . . I know. . . how. ? . ? .
     -- Ricky

Quiet zone!?!? This isn't the fucking quiet zone! THIS IS THE LOUD ZONE!!!
-- DJ Juanito (all the way from fucking New Mexico)

You gotta treat it like a woman. You can't just turn it on and then walk away.
     -- Milk

This isn't a smoking jacket. This is my playboy costume.
-- Alex (at the very advanced age of 12)

MOOOOOOO!!!!!
-- Ricky (aka the Interrupting Cow)

National Ice Cream Day is a very important holiday to me. Would you be so kind as to help me celebrate it some more?
     -- Milk

Thank you, Dr. Whippet!
     -- Tara

Bhakti Rasa is the most perfect music I've ever heard. But I have their CD and tomorrow when I listen to it I know it won't be.
     -- Ricky

So it seems like we have enough people now. When do we start taking down the corporations?
     -- Stan

Next year we'll guarantee we'll play a minimum of 20 hours of amplified music every day.
     -- Yahya

I believe in the equality of man (and woman, I might add). And I believe that religious duties consist in doing justice, loving mercy, and endeavoring to make our fellow-creatures happy.
-- Thomas Paine (quoted between songs at Kan'Nal's performance)

A Killer Pigeon Show

    </a>
<div>Long overdue return to Los Angeles for the third leg of the Canceled Flight tour - www.canceledflight.com - and Big Daddy Jay's birthday. Pigeon lovers and pigeon haters alike mashed it up at street art gallery Lab101. I dropped the head bobbing beats from my perch above the melee. The pro-pigeon activists took it to the streets. And our serial pigeon exterminator / author A.V. was a no-show until the afterparty debauchery. Too many "house specials" there left me feeling fragged the next morning, the heavy dose of sun and salt water from our afternoon boating expedition only amplified the pain.

All in all a funny little town, where I'm quite satisfied to remain a tourist in the capable hands of others. A big plus of the weekend was the small world reunion with long lost amiga Penelope, visiting from NYC.

Canceled Flight comes home to roost in D-Town on August 5th at Andenken www.andenken.com - great things are in the works to make it the most memorable dirty bird encounter yet.</div>

Apogaea - Far from Earth

<div>Re-entry is always a buzzkill. But I'm still feeling the rejuvenating effects of interstellar travel and three days of freakin' it wildstyle with some of the most high powered mutants in the galaxy. My mind still reels from the Ballarium, the Bass Cave, the Aspen Groove, the Tempting Tree, the towering Tiki Dude, the ARAX Jungle, the Fire Tribe, their scary Buddha burn, and bouncing little freaks at Poked in the Eye.

Bhakti Rasa playing the burn? That was like the Mermen back in the day. Nothing goes better with my wood-fired pizza than a little Spatula by fireside. I can hardly contain myself in anticipation for the hilarity of the next Miss Apogaea Beauty Pageant. My eternal love for the luscious Pink Pussies (Hotza! Hotza!) - for their gentle warmth, strong pussy liquor, and gracious hosting of yours truly (hurry up with that damn website already).

And thanks to all the cool new freaks I met, plus those who pitched in helping us with the Casbah, and of course the kick-ass comrades who busted a nut making this an exceptionally successful &amp; memorable experience.

P.S. My favorite quote concerning this event comes from a wise old Bug: "I have seen the future of Burningman. . . and it has trees."</div>
