Communication is a very important skill. Unfortunately, communication is at the root of many issues within the Hellenic religious community, when we attempt to discuss our religion with those from the greater Pagan community, and even when the greater Pagan community has discussions with itself. Words have meaning, and knowing the meaning of words is important to being able to discuss issues in a civilized manner, and being able to make your point. Of course, this is not a universal problem, ... read more

When speaking about Hellenismos, it is said that Hellenismos has no absolute or strict doctrine. While our religion is identified by a basic theology and the use of and adherence to specific traditions, sacred texts, and mythology, personal theologies are acceptable. Hellenismos though, at the end of the day, is more a religion of abstract ideas and values, developed through both personal and communal experiences (emphasizing the qualitative value of the practical, emotional, insightful, and ... read more

“Trust, but verify” was the United States’ mantra during the 1980s concerning the old Soviet Union and arms control. The principle is simple. Trust people are going to do what they say, but do not be so gullible to not verify that they are keeping their promise. This post issues a warning to those involved with so-called religious organizations to apply this standard. Any organization that asks you to donate money, time, or talent must be held accountable. We must trust, but we must also have... read more

The performing of ritual sacrifice seems to be the most worrisome religious act for many who are new to Hellenismos. There is some fear involved in burning items as offerings to the Gods. Some misconceptions exist that the process is complicated or difficult. Among others, there is even an idea that the act of sacrifice is an out dated, antiquated method of worship that has no place in modern society or religions. In this post, I want to address the different forms of sacrifice, the different... read more

Ok,I know this may sound strange/stupid,but while i am not into magic,i try to meditate quite often.Well,I was able to feel the "energy"(mostly by trying to visualisate an aura over my body),and my my mom could feel it a bit,as when i put my hand very close to her,she told me she felt like she touched the monitor of the tv,after it was on for a time. This is also what I feel.....some kind of stings,as there was a bit of electricity over my body.Is it possible?

Quote from Eo_Thorne on Today at 11:08am:

Is it just me or are Green Witches mistakenly considered Hippies? Â

No, not really. Â Some older witches like Susan Weed, is an old Hippie from the days of Woodstock. Â Some Hippies were activists...now it is termed mainly "reclaiming". Â Now, Ms. Weed is an herbalist among other things.

There were some Hippie communes strung around the US, primarily on the West Coast. Â They susbsisted as much as possible off the land. Â They grew their own food,etc...and herbs ( used old methods...green). Â Herbal medicine was used more than it had been for many years. Â The word "Herb" was also used to mean "Weed" (marijhuana), so, I think, that's where the confusion is.

Also, there were many from that era who went on to become ecologists, etc....as well has herbalists. Â The looseknit group I was in all became professionals of some type, physicians, attorneys, nurse...

Yeah, that second video was QUITE disturbing.  The first tho, in a way, is a little more disturbing... more eye-opening.  They ("church" members) refuse to be part of the program, and defend themselves and their beliefs...  And intolerance is built into the belief system, it seems.  I find that disgusting. Â

Â And, based just on what little I know about cults - what I've read - and after seeing those videos, I believe Scientology is DEFINITELY, Without A Doubt, a cult. Â

Â The way people are sort of brain-washed in the "auditing" sessions... Â how that gal who went in undercover was made to feel like there were things wrong with her - things only THEY (the "church" - Scientology) could fix - it's a con game... Â the way they discourage communication with "undesirable" family and friends (read the Wiki), and encourage any means of "dealing with" critics... Â This is a cult. Â

Christian activists briefly disrupted a Hindu invocation in the U.S Senate on Thursday, marring a historic first for the chamber and showing that fundamentalism is present and shouting in the U.S too. Invited by the Senate to offer Hindu prayers in place of the usual Christian invocation, Rajan Zed, a Hindu priest from Reno, Nevada, [...]

July 20, 2007 — A large 2nd-century bath complex believed to be part of a wealthy Roman’s luxurious residence has been partially dug up, archaeologists said Thursday. By John CastellucciJournal Staff Writer  PAWTUCKET — On the face of it, there was nothing irregular about Rhode Island Pagan Pride’s plans for a Sept. 22 autumnal equinox festival in Slater Memorial Park. by Terry Rombeck It seems like discussions in faith circles about the evils or virtues of Harry Potter have simmered down since the first books and movies originally came out.
