Black Cat ( local favorites » bars / clubs / cafes ) "Smoky but has good shows" If they could only do something about the awful smoke! That's the California in me coming out, I suppose. Pretty much my only complaint! Great places to eat dinner nearby. Free water (always a luxury these days)... and cool black and white, tiled ... read more

Old Ebbitt Grill ( local favorites » restaurants ) "Good oysters, so-so dining!" Pomme Martini-- I make a better one myself. The service was ehhh... the food was pretty good, but the oysters were in fact delish! I would go for oyster happy hour.. $1 oysters from 3-6pm and 11pm-1am.

Bishops Coller ( local favorites » restaurants ) "Great... except for the smoke" I know, I'm not in California anymore but I still have to rate restaurants and bars on ambiance. Smoke totally destroys an otherwise great place to be. Seating outdoors on a lovely evening can be an hours wait. Great fries! Great portobella sandwich.
