There are few people that live their life with complete integrity. I don't have a microscope so I cant see if all the molecules are aligned, but I would guess that Mr. M is one of those who is aspiring to at every moment of the day. This type of awareness is rare indeed. Most people won't see it or applaud it...but it's there. It wll be people like Mr. M that change the world. In small steps that build up into a waterfall.
somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond

First, I called in the bird. Birds speak to me when I see them. They do things that are impossible for me -- they can fly! They show me that perhaps I can fly too, in my own way. Second, I called in the plane. The plane is a manmade device. It's large, mechanical, and perhaps it is the manifestation of one of man's greatest technological achievements. The plane makes the impossible possible -- it allows man to fly! In fact, the plane makes flight away from earth possible. It shows me that perhaps anything is possible. Thirdly, I called in super. "Superman!" I called. We need superman. But, superman was slow to react. Why was I calling in this superhero from childhood? Well, it was a dream, and so eventually with much coaxing superman showed up. But, by that time the dream was over. So here I am with Superman in my mind. I attended three days of workshops where we discussed Abundance and Sustainability. I realize that Superman represents many things for me. Superman shows me the unknowable -- what is beyond the possible and the impossible -- Beyond the known and the unknown is the unknowable because the unknown can be known, but there is something else... Superman can fly. In the stories, superman comes to the rescue. He saves the world, right at the last minute. He saves his love Lois Lane by swooping in and catching her from falling. And, superman is a story. I realize that I don't need to rescue anyone except perhaps, to do so out my own selfishness. I can't save the world, even at this last minute -- I can't save the world. Some of the language in the sustainability workshop mentioned food SECURITY, SAVING the earth, and talked about an EMERGENCY. I am not sure that the world needs SECURITY, SAVING, and EMERGENCY. We need to awaken to what is real for us in this moment. And, we need to accept and feel our feelings when feelings come up. In seeing what we have lost, I think we need to mourn -- feel sad, and cry if that is what I honestly feel. Often when truths about what is going on are spoken, I hear "that's depressing!" And, yes perhaps what we are hearing is triggering me to depress my feelings. And, it's also triggering me to feel my feelings, often sadness, grief, mourning and a sense of great loss. Superman is the extrapolation in the exponential graph. The earth is approaching breaking points. Superman does not exist except as a story in our minds, he is not going to save us. The plane, our wonderful technology is not going to save us. Perhaps, our technology is the reason for the exponential graph. Lois Lane is flying. But, in reality she is falling because humans don't fly. And, as selfish as I am, there is nothing I can do to stop this fall. Perhaps, we fear the break down and the break up of our relationship with ourselves, our relations, and the earth. I am flying. I am falling. I am falling into grace. I am living close to the earth. And, I am listening. And, it's a bird.

The man who follows the crowd

will usually get no further than the crowd; The man who walks alone is likely to find himself in places no one has ever been before. Creativity in living is not without its attendant difficulties, for peculiarity breeds contempt and the unfortunate thing about being ahead of your time is that when people finally realize you were right, they'll say it was obvious all along. You have two choices in life: You can dissolve into the mainstream or you can be distinct. To be distinct, you must be different. To be different, you must strive to be what no one else but you can be. Anonymous
