It was fun but it left me ill from too much partying. We spent as much moneyt as we could to help the economy down there, as well as to enjoy ourselves. The city seems to be recovering but the big money is stuck in the pipeline right now. Once it is release there will likely be a NOLA renaissance. I will likely return, but I think an intervening year will be best before I decide.

I talked to my mother today and she of course, hung up on me. She's mad that I don't want to live with her, don't want to date one of her German friends, and won't drive down to her house at a moment's notice to take her various places. Now she says she won't take her anti-dementia pills. Of course it's hard to see how they've helped at all.

On a brighter note, I leave for New Orleans tomorrow, for the 6th time since 2001, and for the 4th Mardi Gras. It will be different, and peculiar. How... read more
