Aw, shucks...

January 1, 2008
Monique is unique. Truly unique, which is ironic since she's a twin. :)

She is beautiful, exquisitely feminine, multi-talented, and very grounded. With everything she has on her plate at any given time, its a wonder she has any time for leisurely pursuits. She is warm, compassionate, loyal and goofy at times. In fact, she whips out the goofy at those precise moments when no one is expecting it, and her comic flair and timing are a wonder to behold. She doesn't mind making fun of herself, which is also a rare attribute of a beautiful woman. I so appreciate that.

It has been an absolute pleasure working with her and getting to know her the past few years, and seeing her challenge herself and win. She is a wonderful woman, devoted mother and wife, and a model friend. She is an inspiration!

Plus, have you seen those gams?!?

Such a wonderful lady. Such a wonderful person.
Thank you for letting me into your world now and then. I will always have great admiration for you.
And you are a fabulous mommy, too.

She is beauty personified! But beyond that she is a great friend, wonderful wife/mother, talented dancer and just a caring person. She always is able to tell me the thing I need to hear the most when I need to hear it the most! Besides Fiona LOVES Drake!

I suck at testimonials but I do know that Monique is a really good friend who cares for her friends and family above all else.
I couldn't live without her except when she tries to squish my head!

Nomi nomi, bo bomi! (Do you like that? I just made it up!) Oh, she of the alien head squishes! I miss my blonde. (John may have married you, but you're still mine. Mine I say! I just let John borrow you.)

It took me a while to take down my own walls to get to know her, but I'm so damn happy I did. Smart, gorgeous, talented, silly (yes, silly!), funny, caring, kind, and so much more. I'm blessed to have Nomique in my life.

What can I say but Wow! She is my soul mate, my heart, my love and my life. And I haven't even met her yet... just kidding. This woman would have already achieved sainthood for putting up with the likes of me, but to be spending the majority of her day raising our little devil spawn, I mean incredibly wonderful boy... she is stupendous. I know I probably don't say it enough each day to you, but Honey, I love you and you're the greatest. Real pretty, too. But you do inspire me every day and I can't thank you enough, except to say, I love you.

Brilliant, beautiful and sweet too. Monique is one of the most caring people that I've ever known. She keeps her husband and son at the forefront and her friends pretty close behind. That doesn't even begin to consider how talented she is at more things than I'm sure I know about (photography, dance, singing, art - talk about a renaissance woman).

I'm glad that she's my friend, someone that I can talk to about anything and always knows what to say back.

You Begin by Margaret Atwood

You begin this way:
this is your hand,
this is your eye,
that is a fish, blue and flat
on the paper, almost
the shape of an eye.
This is your mouth, this is an O
or a moon, whichever
you like. This is yellow.

Outside the window
is the rain, green
because it is summer, and beyond that
the trees and then the world,
which is round and has only
the colors of these nine crayons.

This is the world, which is fuller
and more difficult to learn than I have said.
You are right to smudge it that way
with the red and then
the orange: the world burns.

Once you have learned these words
you will learn that there are more
words than you can ever learn.
The word hand floats above your hand
like a small cloud over a lake.
The word hand anchors
your hand to this table,
your hand is a warm stone
I hold between two words.

This is your hand, these are my hands, this is the world,
which is round but not flat and has more colors
than we can see.

It begins, it has an end,
this is what you will
come back to, this is your hand.

Truth

Truth lies within ourselves: it takes no rise
from outward things, what'er you may believe.
There is an inmost center in us all,
where truth abides in fullness
and to Know rather consists in opening out a way
whence the imprisoned splendor may escape than
in effecting entry for light supposed to be without.

Shakespeare's Bloody Bits at Gig Harbor

somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near

your slightest look will easily unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skilfully, mysteriously) her first rose

or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;
nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the color of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing

(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands

Our Deepest Fear - Marianne Williamson

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of god. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of god that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Shakespeare's Sonnet 116

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:

O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wand'ring bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.

Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom:

If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
